Oke-Ogun Support Group for Bayewuwon Holds Strategic Meeting in Tede

The Coordinators of the Bayewuwon Support Group from the ten Local Government Areas of Oke-Ogun converged today, Thursday, 10th April 2025, for a strategic meeting held at the APC Party Secretariat in Tede, Atisbo Local Government, Oyo State.

This committed team of grassroots mobilizers represent the strength and unity of Oke Ogun behind the visionary leadership of Prince Kayode OyĂštunde Bayewuwon.

The meeting served as a platform to evaluate ongoing engagements, harmonize plans, and strengthen coordination efforts ahead of future political activities.

Each Local Government coordinator expressed their firm belief in the leadership capacity, grassroots appeal, and development-driven agenda of Prince Bayewuwon.

The meeting also reaffirmed their collective resolve to continue sensitizing and mobilizing support for his vision across all towns and communities in the Oke Ogun region.

The Oke Ogun support group remains a formidable pillar of the broader movement rooting for quality representation, unity, and sustainable development under the banner of Prince Kayode OyĂštunde Bayewuwon.

CCII, Ibadan Mogajis, ICPI Visit Oyo Police Commissioner, Seek Continuous Collaboration

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Mogajis in Ibadan land, and the Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative (ICPI), is set to collaborate with Oyo State Police Command to curb crimes and criminalities in Ibadanland, and Oyo State in general.

 

The stakeholders said the collaboration became necessary for the peace and development of the ancient city.

 

Speaking while leading a delegation on courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police in the state, Johnson Adenola, CCII President General, Barr. Ajeniyi Ajewole assured readiness of the stakeholders to work with the Police so as to tackle criminality in Ibadan.

 

Others in the entourage of CCII President General include President of Ibadan Mogaji, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori, ICPI Coordinator, Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade, members of Committee over-seeing land grabbing matters in Ibadanland, Mogaji Olasukanmi Azeez (Mogaji Asa) and Mogaji Adekunle Adeleke (Mogaji Odeku) among others.

 

The delegation welcomed the new Commissioner of Police in the state and condoled him over the death of a Deputy Commissioner of Police that recently passed on.

 

The team solicited support of the Police, saying it has always been in their character to always support the Commissioner of Police in the state, which past Police Commissioners had also been cooperating with Ibadan people to get rid of land grabbing matters and other social vises.

 

According to the delegation, their collaboration with the Police has reduced crime rate in Ibadanland and Oyo State at large to bearest minimum.

 

In his remark, the Police boss lauded the delegation, saying he has heard about efforts of the delegation towards curbing crime in the city, and he is ready to work with them.

 

He noted that the support of the delegation has reduced the stress of Police to the bearest minimum.

 

He however said he is happy and be willing to work with the delegation, saying he will always support whatever that will bring peace and development to Ibadanland and Oyo state in general.

 

Highlights of the event include exchange of gifts and group photographs with the Police management team in the state.

Agbosoye Ruling Family Defends Prince Tajudeen Oloyede’s Nomination as Next Onibise

The Agbosoye Ruling Family, Komu Ibise in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State has taken a firm stand in defense of Prince Tajudeen Oloyede Jadesola’s nomination as the next Onibise.

This development comes amid alleged misinformation surrounding the selection process for the next Onibise of Komu following the passing of the late Oba Thomas Opoola Olaore Folawiyo I, who died last year.

Agbosoye family’s explanation was contained In a statement titled- Setting the record straight on nomination of Prince Tajudeen Oloyede as the next Onibise, and signed by the chairman and secretary of ARIINA Agbosoye Family, Chief Amuda Adekunle Oke and Prince Olawale Oyedeji respectively.

In the statement, the family clarified that Prince Oloyede’s nomination was not an impulsive decision but rather the result of a formal meeting held on April 3, 2025, adding that the meeting was attended by all key stakeholders from both the Agbosoye and Folarin ruling families including representatives from the Itesiwaju local government council.

The family noted further that the meeting was essential in addressing the vacant stool of the Onibise.

Discrediting a report by the Folarin ruling family that none has been nominated as the next Onibise, Agbosoye family explained that during the meeting convened by Chief P. O Oladeji, chairman of Onibise community, Prince Amuda Adekunle Oke nominated Prince Tajudeen Oloyede Jadesola as the next Onibise, while Prince Saka Oyetunji seconded it without any objections from attendees including those from the Folarin Ruling Family.

In reaffirming Prince Oloyede’s nomination, the Agbosoye Ruling Family highlighted the backing of Chief Adedokun Yunus, the only kingmaker of Ibise Komu alive, who was present during the crucial meeting.

The family therefore expressed disappointment that despite the clear support during the meeting, Folarin family later issued a provocative statement falsely portraying Prince Oloyede as an impostor.

The Agbosoye ruling family concluded that the lack of nomination from the Folarin ruling Family themselves during the meeting further corroborates the collective agreement on Prince Oloyede’s rightful nomination and urged everyone to disregard their false narrative.

The statement read in full:

“In recent days, a concerning narrative has emerged regarding the nomination of Prince Oloyede Tajudeen Jadesola as the next Onibise of Komu.

“The Agbosoye Ruling Family of Ibise, Komu, finds it essential to clarify misinformation being disseminated by the Folarin Ruling Family.

“Following the passing of the late Onibise, Oba Thomas Opoola Olaore Folawiyo I, it is vital for the community and the public at large to understand the facts surrounding this significant leadership transition.

“Prince Oloyede Tajudeen Jadesola stands as a highly respected and cherished member of the Agbosoye Ruling House. His nomination was not an impulsive decision but rather the result of a formal meeting held on April 3, 2025, attended by key stakeholders from both the Agbosoye and Folarin families along with representatives from the Itesiwaju local government council.

“During this meeting, convened by Chief P.O. Oladeji, Chairman of the Onibise Community, discussions focused on the future of the vacant stool of the Onibise. It was within this context that Chief Amuda Adekunle Oke nominated Prince Oloyede Tajudeen Jadesola , a move seconded by Prince Saka Oyetunji, demonstrating a unanimous consensus without any objections from attendees, including those from the Folarin Ruling Family.

“Despite the clear support during the meeting, the Folarin Ruling Family later issued a provocative article titled “ONIBISE OF KOMU STOOL REMAINS VACANT,” falsely portraying Prince Oloyede as an impostor. This claim misrepresents the reality of the nomination process and serves only to confuse the public.

“The Agbosoye Ruling Family urges everyone to recognize the legitimacy of Prince Oloyede’s nomination, which has been backed by the only kingmaker of Ibise Komu alive, Chief Adedokun Yunus, who was also in attendance.

“The lack of nomination from the Folarin Ruling Family themselves during the meeting further corroborates the collective agreement on Prince Oloyede’s rightful nomination. Their subsequent statements contradict the unity demonstrated at the meeting, leading to confusion and misinformation within the community.

“Moving forward, the Agbosoye Ruling Family stands firm in their confidence that Prince Oloyede Tajudeen Jadesola has been rightfully and unanimously nominated as the next Onibise of Komu.

“As customary practices dictate, the family now await final confirmation from both the Itesiwaju local government and the Oyo State government. We believe that transparency and adherence to tradition will guide the next steps in this important transition.

“In light of these developments, the Agbosoye Ruling Family calls upon the community and the general public to disregard the misleading narratives propagated by the Folarin Ruling Family.

“An accurate understanding of the events surrounding the nomination process is crucial for preserving the integrity of the Onibise title and ensuring a harmonious transition of leadership.

“With the support of both ruling families evident in the nomination process, we look forward to a new chapter in the leadership of Komu, marked by unity and progress under the esteemed guidance of Prince Oloyede Tajudeen Jadesola once confirmed and installed by the governments.”

Bullion Records Premieres Harcher’s New Tracks, Love, Jo Si in Lagos

As the entertainment industry globally await the release of the latest single by the Bullion Records’ song writer and music super star, Abdul Rahman Yusuf, popularly known as Harcher, the debut has been premiered at the two famous clubs in Lagos metropolis, namely Westend Sports Bar and Eagle Club on Wednesday and Thursday consecutively.

The premiere of the two tracks, Love and Jo si (dance to it) at the two events lived up to its billing as Harcher showed the stuff he is made of amidst loud ovation from the listening audience.

At the Eagle Club, where he performed with Oritse Femi, Harcher was glad to perform on stage with the famous “Igbeyawo and Oro Aje” crooner.

Speaking at the events, Harcher said he was happy with his performances at the events where his tracks were premiered.

“I lived up to expectation, as I turned the whole place ‘upside down’. That was the expectation for the nights and I thank God I did not disappoint my fans.

“I started writing music at an unbelievable young age. My motivation has been the love for music and seeing others doing well also added to the motivation.

“My message to other music producers, writers and singers is that they should keep on writing, just keep dropping them in the studio. You don’t know which one will be accepted by the listening public. Keep writing and singing on your bed, in the sitting room, just keep it coming.

“I know it is not easy, but continuity is the key, you don’t know when that moment will come.

“For me, this is just the beginning, not the end. There are more to come. I always write songs from fantasy and experiences. Whenever you see Harcher it is going to be a vibe”.

Harcher said the great Late Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Davido and Olamide are top among his role models.

Speaking at the events, the Chairman of Bullion Records, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo said he was happy to be at the premiere of Harcher’s Tracks because according to him Harcher is a young and talented song writer and musician.

“Our aim in Bullion Records is to bring young and talented artists to limelight. So we are determined to bring Harcher to the great stage. Our expectation is that he will release his album before July this year when he is billed to perform in London.

“At Bullion Records we are determined to discover young talents and bring them to the limelight and this we will continue doing”, Ajadi said.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of Bullion Records, Mr Femi Elegbede said Harcher is a versatile artist.

“He is a young guy coming up and he has the zeal to succeed. He is the rave of the moment. He is all over the place. I am happy and impressed at the reception during this premiere. Harcher is a stand out artist. He doesn’t copy others. He is an artist in his own right.

“Enough of your excesses” – Ibadan Mogajis, CCII, Baales, ICPI, other stakeholders warn Oluwo over alleged burning of Lagelu LG grader

The Mogajis in Ibadanland, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Baales, Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative (ICPI) and prominent sons and daughters of Ibadanland have knocked the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi over an incident that led to burning a grader belonging to Lagelu Local Government of Oyo State.

 

The stakeholders said the incident happened following an initial press release by them, issued to warn Oluwo to desist from trespassing on Ogburo land, a border community between Oyo and Osun States.

 

A statement jointly signed by the President of Ibadan Mogajis, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori and ICPI Coordinator, Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade lamented that a grader belonging to Lagelu Local Government was burnt down because the Local Government chairman is grading all roads in the local government belonging to Oyo State, which Ogburo area is not exempted.

 

According to the stakeholders, the perpetrators allegedly mobilized themselves and burnt down the grader overnight around the Papa area.

 

“Ibadanland has now resolved to tackle the issue because many had already been injured, monarch of the community, Ologburo installed by Olubadan has already been sacked and banned from entering the community.

 

“Ibadan people have resolved to mobilize ourselves and escort Ologburo back to his palace, and we are ready to mount the Ibadan bill board to the boundary at a date to be announced.

 

“We are now waiting for whoever has two heads to come and stop us from getting to Odo-Oba, which is a boundary between Ibadan and Osun State.

 

“The Iwo people alleged that Lagelu local government is grading their land, they are claiming that Oyo State is grading their land, the grader is about to get to Papa before it was burnt down overnight.

 

“You can imagine a property worth millions of naira belonging to Oyo state that was burnt by the Iwo people.”

Oyo South Senator, Alli Illuminates Ibarapa With Solar Streetlights

Residents of Ibarapa zone in Oyo South have started enjoying improved night mobility, thanks to solar-powered streetlights installed by Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC–Oyo South) across three Local Governments.

The solar project aims to enhance safety, stimulate local economies, and address infrastructure needs in Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa North and Ibarapa East, covering several wards and underserved communities.

In Ibarapa Central, installations were done in Ita Abass to Imeleke Chalet, Igboora (Ward 5 & Ward 6), Olokodo area, Igboora (Ward 9) and Famadex Road, Idere (Ward 1).

In Ibarapa North, the solar streetlights were installed from AUD axis to Odo Eran, Igangan(Ward 4), Ayete’s Ward 2 got installations from C&S Church to Odo Ide and Oluwafin Street, Ikogba Downward, Tapa (Ward 9).

In Ibarapa East, the solar streetlights were installed at Alhaji Oyedepo Street, New Eruwa and Obadara Street, Orita Eruwa in Ward 5 and Sango-Alariya road in Ward 6 all in Eruwa.

Also in Lanlate, the installation were done from Isale Togun Wayside hotel road through Olorunsogo to Akorede junction (Ward 8) in Lanlate.
The streetlight project joins other interventions by Senator Alli, such as youth empowerment, educational programme, agriculture, healthcare and provision of other infrastructure.

These efforts reflect the lawmaker’s drive for inclusive, impactful representation across Oyo South Senatorial District.

With this installation, Senator Alli has shown that focused, grassroots leadership fosters development.

Speaking on the development, Senator Alli reiterated his commitment to equitable resource distribution, saying the lights symbolises safety, empowerment and inclusion. It is a promise made and fulfilled.

Senator Alli emphasised that every community deserves attention and that Ibarapa remains vital.
The lawmaker said that the zone would soon witness the implementation of more developmental projects.

He listed some of the upcoming projects to include healthcare centres, boreholes, construction and renovation of schools and several others aimed at improving the living standards of the people.

‘Odidiomo’ Installs Another Set of Solar Street Lights Across Constituency

Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, member representing Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west federal constituency of Oyo State at the National Assembly, has fulfilled another key campaign promise with the recent installation of 100 units of 3-in-1 solar street lights across the federal constituency.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, the lawmaker announced that the project, which is part of a broader effort to address infrastructural challenges and improve public safety, has now been completed. “This initiative is aimed at enhancing the quality of life for our residents, providing a reliable source of light, reducing energy costs and contributing to environmental sustainability,” Mr. Mustapha said.

The completed installation covers various communities within the constituency, thereby extending its positive impact to both the Ibadan North-west (IBNW) and Ibadan South-west (IBSW) areas of Oyo state.

The project beneficiaries include:

1. Mechanic Village, Olopomewa, Eleyele – IBNW

2. Mechanic Village, Ologuneru, Eleyele – IBNW

3. Hausa Community, Eleyele – IBNW

4. Afonta Community, Dugbe – IBNW

5. Igbonna Community, Popoyemoja – IBSW

6. Oja-Oba/Oritamerin Market – IBSW

7. Ogunleye Community, Liberty Road – IBSW

8. Sawmill, Dogo, Apata – IBSW

Mustapha noted that the selection of these communities was informed by a detailed assessment of areas in dire need of improved public lighting. “We identified specific locations where the new solar street lights would not only improve night-time visibility but also foster a sense of security and progress in the communities.”

He said, Hon. Olajide, who is widely recognized for his hands-on approach in addressing local challenges, is committed to delivering on his electoral campaign promises and reiterated his dedication to the developmental transformation of his constituency.

“The installation of these solar street lights is another step in our journey towards a better future for our communities. I am confident that these improvements will enhance public safety and contribute to the overall well-being of our people,” the statement read in part.

It further added that this latest development adds to a series of transformative projects already spearheaded by Hon. Olajide, while more are expected in the coming months, as part of the lawmaker’s sustained commitment to uplifting the standard of living for his constituents, bearing in mind his determination to invest in green energy solutions while addressing pressing infrastructural deficits in urban and peri-urban communities across Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west federal constituency of Oyo state.

Ayedero Of Yorubaland, Shina Peller Absent At Alaafin of Oyo’s Coronation

The Ayedero of Yorubaland, Hon Shina Peller was on Saturday absent at the coronation and installation of the new Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I as the governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Saturday performed the coronation.

The event which was performed nearly three years after the demise of the former Alaafin, Lamidi Adeyemi III was attended by who is who in Nigeria.

Though the occasion was graced by eminent traditional rulers across Yoruba land as well as political and religious title holders, conspicuously missing at the coronation is the Ayedero of Yoruba land, Hon. Shina Peller.

The late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III on August 2021 installed the former Lawmaker that represented Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola, Iwajowa federal constituency, Hon Shina Peller as Ayedero Of Yorubaland and his wife, Ayobola Peller as the Yeye Ayedero of Yorubaland.

By this title, many observers believe Peller is an Oyo ceremonial title holder and should ordinarily be in attendance at the coronation of the new Alaafin.

Makinde Approves New Alaafin of Oyo

He was however not seen within the vicinity of the venue, nor his name mentioned for as long as the event lasted.

Efforts to get in touch with Hon. Peller to get his reason for not being in attendance at the Alaafin coronation proved abortive as calls put through to his media aide, Kola Popoola was not answered at the time of filing this report.

Ladoja, Adegoke, Members Of IBSE L.G Traditional Council Pay Condolence Visit To Adeojo, Olunloyo Families

The Ibadan South-East Local Government Traditional Council led by Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja on Tuesday paid a condolence visit on the families of late People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain, Chief Yekini Adeojo and former Governor of Oyo state, Dr Omololu Olunloyo, who passed on last week respectively.

Other members of the Council led by Oba Ladoja were Chief Adeniran, the Abese Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Nureni Akanbi, the Iba Oluyole, Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke (FCA), Aare Egbe-Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, Olooye Lekan Alabi, Maye Olubadan of Ibadanland and others.

Late Alhaji Adeojo, who was also the Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland died in Lagos last week Friday, while Dr Olunloyo was announced dead in a private hospital on Sunday morning in Ibadan.

Speaking on behalf of the Council, at the residence of the two families, the Maye Olubadan of Ibadanland, Olooye Lekan Alabi described the demise of Alhaji Adeojo and Dr. Olunloyo as a great loss to the people of Ibadanland and Nigeria at large.

He noted that the icons played their parts in putting the state capital on the global map in politics and education.

Speaking on behalf of the Adeojo’s family, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo thanked the council for their support to the family.

Ibadan Chiefs, CCII, Mogajis, Baales, Other Stakeholders Caution Oluwo Over Alleged Trespass On Ogburo Land

The Mogajis in Ibadan land, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Chiefs, Baales, Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative (ICPI), prominent sons and daughters of Ibadan land has urged Nigerians to call Oluwo of Iwo land, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi into order to stop trespassing in Ogburo land, a boundary community between Oyo and Osun States.

The stakeholders also warned Oluwo to stop relegating and distorting Yoruba custom, culture and tradition.

According to them, it’s high time Oluwo stopped all his atrocities, saying silence of Ibadan people should not be taken as a sign of weakness.

Recall that prominent Ibadan Mogaji, Alhaji Abass Oloko, recently warned the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, to refrain from denigrating Yoruba culture by calling himself an Emir.

Oloko had expressed his concerns regarding the implications of such title, which he believes undermine the rich traditions of the Yoruba people.

A statement by ICPI Coordinator and former Ag. Secretary General of CCII, Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade said the Iwo monarch has turned himself into a monster and continues destroying Yoruba’s legacy. He is not the first Oluwo, all his predecessors have never been this controversial.

“Oluwo was seen moving round the VVIP canopy in the presence of all the traditional rulers and prominent personalities almost disrupting the event procedure during the official coronation of Alaafin.of Oyo, who is he trying to impress ? That’s very Childish?”

The stakeholders gave Oluwo a strong warning concerning the Ogburo land dispute, saying there has been strong evidence as well as a gentle man agreement between Oyo and Osun States who agreed that Odo-Oba is the boundary between Oyo and Osun.

They said the way Oluwo is trespassing Ogburo land and harassing Ologburo, his families and subjects has become a concern which should stop henceforth.

“He is the only Yoruba Oba relegating and distorting the beauty of our culture and traditions, we call on all Nigerians to warn Oluwo before Ibadan get annoyed with him.

“Ogburo issue has gotten to the last bus stop, we are not happy with him, looking at him with ease doesn’t’ mean that we are weak.

“He should stop trespassing on Ibadan land because everyone knows that Odo-Oba is the boundary between Oyo state and Osun State.”

The stakeholders’ observation came amidst growing concerns about the preservation of traditional identities within the Yoruba community and trespassing on Ogburo community.

Sarkin Sasa Title Not Recognised, Says Olubadan

The Olubadan of Ibadanland His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr.) Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin 1) has declared the title of Sarkin Sasa null and void and not recognised by Ibadan Traditional Chieftaincy Law.

 

The declaration was made during the Olubadan – In – Council meeting held at Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan on Monday.

 

“Chief Akinade Ajani Amusa is the recognised Baale of Sasa land in Akinyele Local Area and the accredited representative of the Olubadan of Ibadanland”, Olubadan confirmed.

 

“Let it be noted that any individual or group of persons in Sasa land are under the authority of the Baale of Sasa land; Chief Amusa Akinade Ajani. It is therefore imperative to accord him the appropriate respect and authority. Any disobedience to his directive will be met with serious sanctions as it will be considered an affront to the Olubadan stool” Olubadan warned.

 

It would be recalled that the 8th day firdaus prayer of late Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin Kastina was observed on March 8 2025 at Sasa, Ibadan which turned out to be the turbaning ceremony of Ciroma, the son of the deceased as the new Sarkin Sasa without the approval of His Imperial Majesty, Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Bayewuwon Visits APC Zonal Leaders Across Oyo Zone

In a move aimed at strengthening party unity and fostering grassroots engagement, Prince Kayode Oyetunde Bayewuwon, Chairman of the Prince Kayode Oyetunde Bayewuwon Foundation, has paid strategic visit to the zonal leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the four Local Governments that make up Oyo Zone: Atiba, Oyo East, Oyo West and Afijio.

During the visit, Prince Bayewuwon engaged in fruitful discussions with party elders and stakeholders on issues of development, youth empowerment and inclusive political participation.

 

He emphasized the need for sustained collaboration and unity among party members ahead of future political engagements.

 

The visit reaffirms Prince Bayewuwon’s deep commitment to the progress of the APC and the overall development of Oyo State.

The recent deaths of two prominent sons of Ibadanland has been described as losses of two rare gems of Ibadanland by His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr.) Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin 1) in his commiserations with all sons and daughters of Ibadanland on the demise of the former Governor of Oyo State, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo and prominent businessman and politician, Chief Yekeen Adeojo.

According to the statement from the palace, the paramount ruler, noted that these deaths in quick succession have diminished the number in the Ibadan pool of elder statesmen.

Describing the late Former Governor of Old Oyo State, Oba Olakulehin stated

” Dr Victor Omololu Olunloyo, a foremost mathematician was a first class brain who stood tall in the Nigerian and international intellectual space. His election as Governor of Oyo State was a turning point that blazed the trail for the emergence of Ibadan indigenes as Governor of Oyo State.

“ We will recall that this was a most defining moment when the Ibadans voted for one of their own and true to his name Victor, he became victorious in the Gubernatorial electoral battle of 1983. Though short-lived, his tenure was a significant watershed for Oyo State politics”

Chief Olunloyo, who also held the titles of Balogun of Oyo and Otun Bobasewa of Ife, passed away in the early hours of Sunday.

The Balogun of Oyo and Otun Bobasewa of Ife, Dr. Olunloyo, was the first Rector, Ibadan Polytechnic and first Rector, Kwara State Polytechnic, among other notable appointments. His long record of service to the nation and humanity is a source of pride to the Olubadan Palace, even as his family and the entire nation come to terms with the reality of his passing the statement from the palace noted.

In the same vein, Oba Olakulehin condoled the people of Ibadanland, Oyo State, Nigeria and members of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) on the demise of Alhaji Yekeen Adeojo,

Alhaji Adeojo, a founding father of the PDP in Oyo State, former Deputy National Chairman (South) of the PDP who held the prestigious title of Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland passed on in the early hours of Friday.

“Alhaji Yekeen Adeojo was a prominent businessman, industrialist and philanthropist. He contributed immensely to the economic development of Ibadanland and Oyo State employing thousands, championing many charitable and philanthropic endeavours”

“ As a politician, he was a bridge builder and well respected as a political figure across Nigeria. A devout muslim, the Islamic community will miss his commitment and devotion to the promotion of the Islamic religion”.

Oba Olakulehin prayed for the repose of their souls and the fortitude to bear these irreparable losses by their immediate and extended families as well as Ibadan and Oyo State indigenes.

Jehovah’s Witnesses Open Doors to Public for Commemoration of Jesus’ Death April 12

Millions of people will be gathering this weekend to celebrate the most important event in world history, the memorial of Jesus death across the globe.

Jehovah’s Witnesses have embarked on extensive global campaign inviting people to join in the celebration of the Lord’s evening otherwise known as the last supper.

Speaking on an Ibadan based Success FM Radio programme recently, the Regional Spokesperson for Jehovah’s Witnesses, Professor Gill Adekannbi described the campaign for the upcoming event as a global phenomenon.

According to him, “The memorial of Christ’s death is an annual event and we are having a month-long campaign to invite friends, neighbours and family members to two special events we are going to have in the month of April.”

He explained that in the previous years, Jehovah’s witnesses used to have more than 20 million people gathering together to commemorate the death of Jesus Christ.

Professor Adekannbi who fielded questions from the programme anchor on various aspects of the event, noted that the memorial of Christ’s death would be coming up on Saturday April 12, 2025.

Just last weekend of April 5 and 6, millions of people listened to a special talk titled “Can truth be found?”, delivered in various local halls around the world.

“Jesus commanded that this should be commemorated in remembrance of Him. This is an event to show that we are obeying Jesus Christ. Again, we always seize the opportunity to express our appreciation for the greatest expression of love by God, sending His only begotten son to die for us.

“This makes it possible for us to enjoy peace with God. The occasion is also a time when we see hope that life will not continue to be as it is now. People face a lot of economic challenges, crises, violence and so on.

“What will be the permanent solution to these problems? It is God’s kingdom by means of Christ Jesus. On the occasion of the memorial of Christ, we reflect on this hope that is made possible through the ransom of Jesus Christ”, Professor Adekannbi said.

While responding to question on whether the attendees will have to make monetary offerings at the event, Professor Adekannbi said “No! They don’t need to come with any money. Everything is free! No collection at all! It is just to come to learn how we can show appreciation for God’s precious gift of His only begotten son for us to enjoy the real life, the eternal life. Language isn’t a barrier, this programme is going to be held in different Nigerian languages.”

Senator Alli mourns Olunloyo, says Nigeria lost rare intellectual giant

Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Governor of Oyo State, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo, describing his death as the end of a golden era of wisdom, scholarship, and statesmanship in Nigeria.

This is contained in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas and made available to newsmen on Sunday in Ibadan.

Senator Alli said Olunloyo was a towering intellectual and one of the brightest minds to ever serve in public office in Nigeria.

He noted that the late elder statesman was not only a former governor but also a respected mathematician, engineer, and renowned technocrat whose legacy would continue to inspire generations.

“The death of Dr. Olunloyo is a monumental loss to Oyo State and Nigeria at large. He was a symbol of brilliance, simplicity, and unwavering commitment to public service.

“His contributions to governance, academia, and the development of our dear state remain unmatched,” he said.

Senator Alli extended heartfelt condolences to the Olunloyo family, the good people of Ibadanland and the entire Oyo State.

He prayed that God would comfort the family and grant the departed soul eternal rest.

“We have lost a gem, a leader with rare intellect and an elder whose counsel was always profound.

“May Almighty God rest his soul in peace and grant us all the strength to bear this great loss,” the statement added.
