In fulfillment of Governor Seyi Makinde’s promises to make life more meaningful and comfortable for the senior citizens in the Pacesetter State by ensuring that they are not subjected to any forms of hardship or suffering in the course of collecting their entitlements, the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, under the leadership of Prince Adebayo Adeyemi, has taken the distribution of gratuity cheques to the doorsteps of the beneficiaries across the various zones of the state.
The distribution exercise which kicked off in Ibadan, took the Pension Board team to Oyo town, from where they are to move to Ogbomoso, Oke Ogun 2 and 1 and to round it off at Ibarapa Zone.
While addressing the pensioners at Oyo East local government secretariat, Kosobo, Oyo on Tuesday, the Local Government Staff Pension Board Chairman, Prince AbdulFatai Adebayo Adeyemi, who was represented on the occasion by the Board Permanent Secretary, Alh. Lukman Akinola Muraina, used the medium to remind the retirees of the unfeigned love and care Governor Seyi Makinde has for them which culminated in zonal screening and verification, including on-line payment of gratuity to the retirees as well as death benefits to the next of kins of deceased pensioners in a hitch-free exercise.
The Permanent Secretary pleaded with the senior citizens to reciprocate the kind gesture by voting massively for Engr. Seyi Makinde and other Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in the 2023 general elections.
While pledging his readiness to follow all the laid down rules of the present administration whose priority is to make life more meaningful to all serving and retired workers in the Pacesetter State, Alh. Lukman Muraina assured the senior citizens that Makinde is poised to clear the backlog of unpaid gratuities his administration met, urging the pensioners to keep on praying for him to succeed and not to let the general masses down.
In their various goodwill messages, the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) Executive members of both the retired primary school teachers and local government staff appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde for the new style and high level of consideration given to the retirees by this mode of payment.
In her own remarks, Alhaja Kafilat Olakojo, the Executive Chairman of Atiba Local Government, reinstated the indelible achievements of GSM and why he should be voted in for the second term.
The occasion had the presence of all the Executive Chairmen of the four Local Governments in Oyo, the Oyo State NUP Chairman (Teachers wing), Comrade Dosu Akinpelu; the Secretary, ComradeTunji Ogunwale; the Oyo State NUP Chairman (Local Government retirees wing) Rev. Dr.J. T. Ayanlowo, and other executive members in Oyo zone, while the Heads of Local Government Administration (HLGAs) in Oyo East, Oyo West, Afijio and Atiba, together with their Directors of Finance, the Management team of Local Government staff Pension Board, Desk Officers of both Teachers and Local Government Desk and other important personalities in Oyo zone equally graced the auspicious event.
