A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Stanley Adedeji Olajide Odidiomo on Sunday lambasted political opponents for sponsoring media attacks on him over his last Friday’s declaration for second term in Ibadan Northwest Local Government.
Stanley Adedeji Olajide Odidiomo is a Federal lawmaker representing Ibadan Southwest and Ibadan Northwest at the National Assembly.
At the well attended parley with political leaders, associates and supporters on Friday, the lawmaker got the backing of the unprecedented crowd of party faithful to run for a second term because of his laudable achievements which included quality representation through sponsorship of bills and motions; educational support fund to students and building of schools; supply of transformers; four different empowerment for thousands of youths, women, artisans and others.
Reacting to the alleged disruption of the meeting, Stanley Adedeji Olajide Odidiomo in a statement he personally signed on Sunday said, “it has come to my notice that the false news circulating in the media claims that I, Honorable Adedeji Stanley Olajide (Odidiomo), Member Representing Ibadan Northwest and Ibadan Southwest Federal Constituency, during my official declaration for the second term in office at the Local Government meeting in Ibadan Northwest, came to disrupt the meeting with thugs. I believe this is the work of people who are trying to pull back the train of the progress of our dear state and are working to soil the good name of our dear Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, by dragging him.
“I specifically need to clear the air by giving the truth and a true picture of what went down.
Prior to my arrival at the meeting, my media team was on the ground to set up their props for live coverage. I got notified that theyāve been harassing them and have even been ordered to remove their shirts and identity cards showing support for me. They also told me there were loads of area boys on the ground extorting money from them. To ensure their safety, I had to notify the security personnel who escorted me to the venue.
“The reception by the party faithful on my arrival at the venue was warm as people came out enmasse to welcome me. But amidst the mammoth crowd, we could also see that some people were ready with thugs to cause chaos. Immediately, my escort and security personnel stepped in and scared them off by shooting in the air.
“I started my speech by urging the security personnel to stop shooting in the air so as to avoid panic in the area and also appeal to the good people who came out to support me.
”I never mentioned in my 40-minute speech that I had gotten the ticket from my leader, the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, hence I won’t be seeking the support and prayers of my people.
”I only reiterated that the governor instructed us to be of one accord and allow peace to reign. I added that no one should, in my name, throw shades at my co-aspirants because myself, Fagbemi, and Bibire are all at peace and working towards the progress of this great party, PDP.
”All proceedings and speeches were covered live on my Facebook and Instagram handles with the username @adedejiodidiomo. So every peace-loving person could surf through the 40-minute live video to confirm the truth.
”I want to confirm to you that no fights or chaos ensued at the official declaration of my second term in office at Ibadan North-west Local Government. It is clear the degrading media reports were sponsored to tarnish my image, truncate the peace of the party under the leadership of my leader, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and distract the people from the good governance we brought to them.
”My story is about people. I can never and will never truncate their peace and love for me. I follow the lead of my able leader, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, and will never jeopardize his efforts to give us the Oyo State of our dreams”.
