The Archbishop of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province, Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion and the Lord Bishop of Ibadan North Anglican Diocese, His Grace, the Most Rev’d (Dr ) Williams Oluwarotimi Aladekugbe made the call during the New Year Thanksgiving Service with the Theme “God leads and protect His Own “at the Cathedral of St.Peter Aremo, Ibadan on Sunday.
The sermon was contained in the press release issued and signed by the Diocesan Communicator Chief Ayoade Solomon Olugbemiga shortly after the service.
According to Archbishop Aladekugbe, the only sure way presently available to us is God’s protection considering several challenges facing us,which include insecurity, hunger,anger, poverty, unemployment and fear of unknown among others.
Describing God as omnipotent , omnipresent and omniscient, the Clergy enjoined us to be nearer to God by constantly reading our Bible, allowing Holy Spirit to minister unto us, listening to God’s voice and taking wise counsel (Ephesians 6:20).
” The benefits of being obedient to the words of God and allowing Him to protect you include;the security of your lives and property, enjoyment of inner peace, joy, provision of your needs,, guidance and most importantly eternal life”, the man of God further assured.
Finally, he prayed for NIGERIANS, saying that with God as our protector,we should fear no evil as our God of covenant will surely see us through the year 2026.
The Thanksgiving Service was attended by the clergies and their wives, legal luminaries, traditional rulers, business tycoons, family and friends from diaspora and the congregation from all walks of life.
