The Secretary of Bodija International Foodstuffs Sellers Association (BIFSA), Mrs. Oluwatoyin Alayande, has appealed to Christians in Oyo state to support Seyi Makinde by seeking God’s intervention for him to overcome challenges and have successful administration.
Speaking at the 2021 Choir Anniversary of the New Heritage Baptist Church, Eniosa, in Ibadan on Sunday, Alayande highlighted the importance of music and how King David in the Bible through music won God’s heart and received answers to his prayers.
She said: “Religious songs have been described as source of strength for relieving pain, elevating negative mood and solution in the time of troubles. I therefore admonish you brethren and all christians in Oyo state to intensify efforts in using spiritual and inspirational songs to seek God’s Intervention for governor Makinde’s administration to overcome increasing challenges.
“Oyo state needs your prayer to survive its security challenges and other lingering crisis. Likewise the traders’ body in the state, the coalition of traders, artisans, market men and women needs your prayers to triumph over the rebellious and saboteurs used by politicians and enemies of the state to foment troubles.
“Also, remember in your prayers the two heads of markets in the state, Alhaji Sunmaila Aderemi Jimoh and Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje, Babaloja-General of Oyo State and Iyaloja-General of Oyo State respectively. Pray that God should equip and grant them wisdom to win the battle against the looming food insecurity and persistent increase in the cost of foodstuffs in the state”.
In addition, she hailed the leadership of CAN in the state for distancing itself from traders’ crisis in the state.
“It is important that I commend the stand and courage of leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Oyo State chapter for refusing to take the advantage of the crisis in traders’ associations to raise Christian leaders among the traders and endorse them for the positions of Babaloja-General and Iyaloja-General since those working to upturn the choice of over 2 millions traders, artisans, market men and women in the state are Muslims. Of course, we know some religious leaders would have even done worst, but CAN distanced itself from the unholy behaviour which is capable of tarnishing the image of God. We should also not forget that our number one leader who keeps standing firmly and championing the struggle against injustice and illegality, Chief (Mrs.) Odunayo Kayode Danjuma is also a Christian, yet the immediate past chairman of CAN in the state, Pastor Benjamin Akanmu completely withdrew from further discussion when he noticed ignoble and unethical behaviours of those who claimed to be mediators during the meeting held at the house of a religious leader at Ikolaba, Ibadan.
“The opportunity I have today is a great privilege and must be well utilised. My appeal goes to CAN in Oyo State, do not relent in your prayers for a peaceful coexistence of all residents of the state and keep supporting, praying and advising the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde who needs more reliable, trustworthy, sincere and God-fearing religious leaders around him now than even before to escape from the greedy, dubious, manipulators and callous leaders whose aim is to milk Oyo state dry.
“Let me also advise our political, traditional and religious leaders to always remember that every of our activities while on earth shall be accounted for in the day of judgement. In addition, those worldly possessions diverting our mind away from God’s principle of equity, justice and fairness are vanities and they will perish,” she concluded.
