Member of the House of Representatives from Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency Oyo State, Hon. Shina Peller, on Thursday held a special birthday celebration with the students of the School for the Handicapped, Adie- Omu, Ekunle Iseyin, as part of the activities to mark his 45th birthday anniversary.
Delivering his speech at the event, the headteacher of the school, Mr. Ogundiran Theophilus Adebowale, expressed the school’s profound gratitude to Hon. Peller for his love and concerns for the less privileged and for not only associating with them, but also for his willingness to help and assist them always.
“I salute your courage and love for these children that people call less privileged, for you to associate with them and ready to help them with what God has given to you; the entire staff, parents and children of this school say thank you,” the headteacher said.
In the same vein, Mr. Adebowale lauded Hon. Peller’s representation and various positive impacts that he is bringing to the constituency particularly in the areas of education, infrastructural development, job and wealth creations, as well as his various empowerment programmes for the aged, women and youths.
He said, “While lauding our amiable honourable for positive impacts that his representation has brought to our federal constituency in terms of education, job creations, empowerments of both young and old, infrastructural development, just to mention a few, more ranks on your shoulders sir.”
Similarly, the headteacher seized the opportunity to present the needs of the school to Hon. Peller which included vocational training centre and school bus to facilitate attendance and punctuality on the part of the pupils.
“We cannot but present to you our needs in the school since we all know that government cannot provide all the needs of the school, and moreso we are Oliver Twist,” he concluded.
On their part, the special students, who are gifted with so many talents, appreciated Hon. Peller through various presentations made by them.
In his remarks, Hon. Peller charged the students to strive for the best, adding that there is no limit to what they can achieve in life.
Recall that last year one of the students of the school, Wasiu Idris, was added to the scholarship scheme of Hon. Peller, bringing the number of constituents on his scholarship scheme to about twenty.
