Three persons have reportedly been killed in the clash between some youths and operatives of the Amotekun Corps in Tapa, Ibarapa North Area of Oyo state on Wednesday.
A source told Pacesetter news that the clash started when some officers of the security outfit went to disperse some youths who were having fun during a street carnival.
The source added that the youths were having a carnival and they were expected to close by 10pm but they didn’t. He said that Amotekun told them to stop but it took them some time to stop their sound system.
“In the course of trying to stop the carnival, there was an argument between the boys and the Amotekun which made the boys throw stones at the Amotekun officers.”
“Along the line, the Amotekun started shooting directly at them and now, at least three people have been confirmed dead while many people were injured.”
“Bullets are being removed from some people who did not partake in the carnival at all.” He stated.
Meanwhile, the Commandant of Amotekun Corps in the state, Col. Olayinka Olayanju, while confirming the incident, said he was already on a fact-finding mission to Tapa, the scene of the incident.
“I am on my way to Tapa. I am on my way to Tapa. I can’t tell you anything now until I investigate. I am on my way to Tapa, ” he said.
