South West Media Stakeholders have said the senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, Senator Osita Bonaventure Izunazo deserves to be elected Senate President for equity and fairness.

Members of the group described Izunazo as a shining example of competence, honesty, probity and character.

This was contained in a communique read by one of the Directors of the South West Media Stakeholders, Mr. Kolawole Ilori in Ibadan, on Saturday.

The group also explained that Senator Izunaso’s candidature would not only be groundbreaking, but the most ideal compromise choice to establish a lasting mutual relationship between the Legislature and the Executive, for the betterment of Nigeria and her people.

It equally stated that it should not be a matter of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) zoning the position to certain region, adding that the personality of the occupant of the office of the Senate President goes a long way in the global recognition of the office and by extension the recognition of Nigeria at global level.

According to the group, the Izunaso’s choice will be the much-needed ‘Balm of Gilead’ to douse the general tension in the South East.

The group expressed confidence that of all those jostling for the post in terms of cognate experience, Izunaso stands shoulder high over others when his parliamentary experience and exposure are put in perspective.

The group argued that the post of Senate President should not be given to somebody who has a history of criminality just because he is a ‘good man’.

It further noted that the Izunaso’s bridge -building abilities and capabilities across political divides and geo-political zones tower above his closest rivals for the position.

The group added that Izunaso’s strength of character and dynamism are the essential ingredients the 10th National Assembly would require to galvanize all the political tendencies for a prosperous Nigeria.
