Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin who is Majority Leader in the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Ogbomoso South state constituency has picked up from where he stopped helping to contribute to make laws that have direct and positive bearing in the lives of the people of the state.
Adedoyin who is on his second term moved many life impactful motions in his first term, an impressive record and he has proven he is not resting on his oars.
So far in the tenth assembly, he has moved four motions in two months – two in fifteen days – some which others co-sponsored with him. These are highlighted below:
1. Need for government to employ more public primary school teachers in Oyo state. The reason for this motion sponsored by Adedoyin fondly called Sanjay “is to forestall collapse of primary school education system in the state.” It was co-sponsored by Hon. B.O. Adeola.
2. Yiya ojo kan soto fun odun isese Yoruba ni ipinle Oyo. The motion co-sponsored by Hon. Gbenga Oyekola and Hon. Adebayo Gabriel Babajide he explained is “to give room for showcasing our much cherished value, custom, culture and tradition which is fast becoming moribund. Having a day set aside as ‘ISESE DAY’ will equally give our people who are traditionalists a sense of belonging, joy and satisfaction. While Yoruba culture and values will be promoted to outside world and this in turn will attract tourists and other fun seekers to our dear state.”
He added, “It’s very saddening that some of our offspring don’t know anything about our culture, custom, tradition, language, religion, food, songs, drums yet all these are being promoted and taught in their institutions of higher learning in places like Brazil, Cuba, Peru and these Akatas are identifying with these our values and culture with pride and dignity. We must not wait until these Oyinbos start teaching us our language, culture, customs and values before we do something urgent to arrest the negative trend.” It is gratifying to note that the motion was also passed. August 20 every year will now be set aside as Isese Day if Governor Seyi Makinde assents the bill.
3. Urgent need to take proactive steps to mitigate persistent increase in cases of kidnapping, killings and other social vices in Iseyin community and Oyo state at large, which he co-sponsored with Hon. B.O. Adeola.
4. Need for executive arm of government to take decisive steps to address perennial flooding occasioned by recent heavy downpour that had wrecked havoc on residents and businesses across the state sponsored by four lawmakers – Adedoyin, B.O. Adeola, M.A. Fadeyi and W.F. Akintayo.
