The Ekiti State University Alumni Association, USA Chapter, has elected Mr. Victor Ademola Adanri as its new chairman, with a pledge to strengthen unity, deepen alumni engagement and support the growth of the institution at home and abroad.
In his acceptance speech delivered shortly after the announcement of his victory, Adanri expressed gratitude to members for the confidence reposed in him, describing his emergence as “a profound responsibility” and promising to lead with transparency, urgency and integrity.
He commended the electoral committee headed by Dr. Ademola Daramola, alongside Mascot Ijamakinwa, Bunmi Adebayo, Lucy Igbinoba and Mopelola Fatuga, for conducting what he termed “the freest and fairest election in recent times.”
Adanri reserved glowing tributes for the chapter’s founder and immediate past chairman, Mr. Adeolu Tinubu, whom he described as “the architect of the association’s foundation.” According to him, Tinubu’s vision, passion and commitment transformed the USA chapter from a dream into a thriving reality.
“Under his stewardship, this chapter did not merely exist, it flourished. He brought structure where there was none, created opportunities where there were gaps and inspired all of us with his dedication. Truly, he is a pathfinder, a trailblazer and a torchbearer,” he said.
Unveiling his agenda, the new chairman said the chapter would focus on three key pillars: strengthening the association as a dynamic and connected community; expanding its capacity for giving back through fundraising, mentorship and collaborative projects and fostering meaningful partnerships with local communities, global alumni bodies and EKSU itself.
Some of the initiatives outlined include alumni mentorship circles for young graduates and students in the U.S., cultural and fundraising events to support scholarships and infrastructure projects, as well as closer collaboration with the Global Alumni Executive Council and EKSU management.
Adanri called on members to bury differences and rally behind the new executive in the spirit of unity and friendship that dates back to their days on campus.
“This is the beginning of a glorious era of our association. Let us all be involved. This will be an open and accessible administration for all and to the benefit of all,” he declared.
He assured that the USA chapter would remain committed to building on past achievements while carving a vibrant future that reflects the excellence of Ekiti State University and contributes meaningfully to the development of Ado-Ekiti.
