The member representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency of Oyo state in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, on friday attended the congregational jumat prayer at the Ayete central mosque in Ayete town, Ibarapa central local government area of Oyo state, where he formally informed the muslim ummah of his intention to contest the governorship seat of the state.
Olajide Odidiomo, used the occasion to seek prayers and support from the muslim community on his aspiration to succeed Governor Seyi Makinde at the expiration of the governor’s tenure.
Addressing the congregation shortly after the prayer session, the federal lawmaker said his decision to seek the governorship position was borne out of consultations with stakeholders, community leaders and supporters across the state.
According to him, the aspiration is driven by a desire to consolidate the developmental strides recorded in the state in recent years while expanding opportunities for economic growth and social development.
Olajide recalled that he had earlier declared his intention to contest the governorship seat, noting that his vision is anchored on continuity, inclusive governance and development.
He urged the muslim ummah and residents of Ibarapa and other parts of the state to offer prayers for divine guidance and wisdom as he forge ahead with his ambition.
“The journey ahead requires the prayers and support of our people. Leadership is a sacred responsibility, and we must approach it with humility, sincerity and a commitment to serve the common good,” Olajide said.
The lawmaker also commended the people of Ayete and the broader Ibarapa region for their long standing contributions to the political and socio-economic development of Oyo State.
He assured the community that his aspiration, when realized, would prioritize balanced development across all zones of the state, including the Ibarapa axis.
Responding, leaders of the Ayete muslim community commended Olajide for what they described as courage and determination in offering himself for the governorship position.
They expressed optimism that his experience in public service and legislative work would be beneficial to the state, noting that leadership requires individuals willing to step forward with ideas and commitment.
They offered prayers for the success of his political journey, urging him to remain focused on the ideals of service, justice and development.
