Oyo south senatorial candidate of Allied People’s Movement, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, has called on the Federal Government to urgently address the infrastructure deficit and security challenges facing Ibarapaland.
Hon. Olajide made the call while speaking at the 2nd Annual Diocesan Harvest of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Ibarapa Diocese, held at the Rev. Longley Memorial Methodist Cathedral, Oke-Agogo, Igboora, in Ibarapa-Central Local Government Area of Oyo state.
Olajide who said the region deserves a stronger federal presence beyond routine agencies, highlighted the urgent need to revamp the Igangan Grazing Reserve to spur local agricultural growth, restore the relocated Army barracks in Lanlate and improve on vital telecommunications infrastructure in the area among others.
Reflecting on the theme of the harvest, “Harvest of Fruitfulness”, the lawmaker, who currently represents Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-west federal constituency of Oyo state in the House of Representatives, commended the Methodist Church for its contributions to national development, moral discipline and quality education, noting with personal pride that as an alumnus of Methodist High School, Lagos /Ibadan expressway, toll gate, Ibadan, his own foundation was built on character and service.
He emphasized that true fruitfulness must translate into tangible improvement in the lives of the populace, noting that despite the region’s vast agricultural potential and hardworking people, Ibarapaland remains underserved by federal institutions and key infrastructure.
Drawing attention to the cultural and economic potential demonstrated during the recent World Twins Festival in Igboora, he urged both government authorities and private investors to leverage the region’s unique heritage to foster youth employment, rural development and local enterprise.
Unveiling his legislative agenda as he seeks to represent the Oyo south senatorial district in the senate in 2027, Hon. Olajide Odidiomo pledged to prioritize the critical needs of Ibarapaland through rigorous legislative work, sustained advocacy and strategic collaboration with federal agencies, the Oyo state government and traditional rulers.
He outlined plans to pursue robust federal funding for education, healthcare, skill acquisition, digital access, power and rural road networks, while ensuring that the development of the Igangan Grazing Reserve is executed in a manner that protects local community interests.
