The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has planned a civic reception for Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the new National Secretary of the party.
Basiru, who served as the spokesperson of the Ninth Senate, will be honoured with a grand reception by the party in his home state, which is particularly organised by the APC in the Irepodun/Olorunda/Orolu/Osogbo Federal Constituency of the state.
The reception, which is expected to bring together party loyalists from across the country, will hold at Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Nigeria Railway Premises, Old Garage, Osogbo by 11am on Saturday 19th August 2023.
Basiru, a doctorate degree hoder, is a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice for Osun State and a commissioner in the Ministry of Regional Integration and Special Duties. He also had a stint in the academic world as lecturer in the Osun State University before his election into the Senate in 2019.
His appointment as the National Secretary of the APC is seen as a boost for the party.
The civic reception, according to party officials, is an opportunity to celebrate the senator and his achievements in public service at the event, which promises to be a grand affair, with top party officials, political leaders, and members of the public expected to attend.
The APC is urging all party members and supporters in the state to come out in large numbers to welcome Senator Basiru and celebrate his appointment.
