Concern Stakeholders, Ibadan Chiefs, Applaud Oyo Assembly Over Intervention In Ogburo Community

Concern Stakeholders including Chiefs, Baales, Mogajis, sons and daughters of Ibadanland has applauded the Oyo State House of Assembly, following its intervention in Ogburo, a boundary community between Oyo and Osun States.

They described the intervention as a welcome development, saying the step taking by the House would give relief to residents of the area.

There has been dispute over who owned Ogburo between Oyo and Osun State which has led to some fracals in the community.

A statement jointly signed by President of Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative, Barrister Niyi Ajewole, who also double as the Central Council of Ibadan Indigienes (CCII) President-General, it’s Coordinator, Mogaji Asiwaju Nurudeen Akinade stated that the intervention is capable of bringing lasting solution to the dispute.

According to him, relationship between Oyo and Osun State has been cordial from time immemorial, warning those causing trouble in the area to desist or face the wrawth of law.

The statement said, “Odo Oba remained the common boundary between the two States just Asejire is well known as a natural boundary at the Ibadan – Ikire ends. One wonder why the some people with the Ibadan/Ikire assertion and refused to recognise the Odo Oba theory.”

Recall that Ibadan Chiefs warned those behind causing crisis at Ogburo community, Odo-Oba to desist, saying the community belong to Ibadanland and not Iwo in Osun State.

They said the community can only have one monarch, which is the Ologburo of Ogburo, His Royal Highness, Oba Victor Oyedepo Olabamji recently installed by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, HIM, Oba Mohood Olalekan Ishola Balogun, Alli Okunmade ll saying any other monarch aside that is none and void.

According to them, Ibadanland owned Ogburo community from time immemorial, saying all the past Oluwos of Iwo are aware of the fact that the community falls within Ibadan area.
