With barely Forty Eight hours to the Edo State Governorship Election, the ongoing disbursement of the Micro Enterprise Enhancement scheme in Edo State approved by President Muhammad Buhari appears to be generating serious concern as many consider the move as a vote buying strategy by the All Progressives Congress, APC.

About Two Thousand Women and Youths from the three Senatorial districts in Edo State are to benefit from the Federal Government Micro Enterprise Enhancement Scheme which will run from Tuesday 15 September to Thursday 17 September 2020.

While the social intervention handouts to women and youths in Edo state may be a good initiative, some Edo citizens have questioned the motive behind the disbursement especially with the election around the corner.

The Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo state Chris Nehikare, believes the people of the state are entitled to Government welfare package, but questioned if it’s actually the Government disbursing the fund.

But the All progressives congress APC insists the disbursement of the handouts is not political.

Edo citizens will file out on Saturday to decide who emerges from the September 19 Governorship election and only a free, fair, transparent, and credible election can ensure the will of the people prevail.
