The All Progressives Congress (APC), its national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have been barred from conducting any form of primary by a Federal High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State on Monday.
According to the ruling, the judgment given by the court will remain pending the substantive suit which kicks of on June 11 2020.
With this new development, putting the ruling into consideration, the governorship primaries of the APC in Edo state slated for June 22 may be put on hold.
Meanwhile, the party had earlier on Friday last week scheduled official pasting of names and qualifications of the six candidates contesting for the governorship ticket under APC for Monday (today) and Tuesday. The list were supposed to be pasted at the party Secretariat, in Edo State as well as national secretariat in Abuja.
The decision to publicly paste the contestants names, according to the national Publicity Secretary was reached to allow reactions from the public and party members to avoid disqualification of party’s candidate by the court or INEC after the election.
