The governor of Oyo State, Mr Seyi Makinde has been described as an hypocrite, going by the way he reacted to the killing of two police officers at Iwo-Road area of Ibadan, recently.
A retired police officer, Chief Akinbowale Makajuaola, condemned the indifference attitude of the governor while speaking with journalists in Ibadan, on Tuesday.
He noted that the governor is fond of playing politics with happenings in the state forgetting that he bears the brunch for every single soul lost in a manner that the two police officers died being the Chief Security officer of the state.
Makanjuola, stated that:”The #EndSARS protesters in Ibadan officially announced last Tuesday to discontinue their protest in order to review, reenergise and restrategise. One of the reasons being that hoodlums, disguising as #EndSARS protesters had hijacked the protest.
“But on Wednesday 21st, two police officers were murdered and burnt by irate mob around Abayomi-Iwo road area of Ibadan. The mob even tried as much as threatened to burn the Iwo Road Police station at Testing Ground area”.
“Some hours after, a video surfaced where the Makinde exchanged pleasantries with the mob of suspected murderers of the two policemen. According to the report, the governor was going round to calm nerves.
“Since the inception of the Seyi Makinde-led administration, His Excellency’s style has always been “playing to the gallery.”
“Let’s recall some instances. When the Customs Service supplied FGN COVID19 rice to OYSG and some quantities were said to be inedible. Rather than the OYSG to return the spoilt rice in peace, the government went to town with the news to gain cheap popularity”.
“During the Ondo State governorship election, where governor Makinde was the chairman for Eyitayo Jegede (PDP) campaign, the governor goofed in the management of information concerning the would be Returning Officer. Rather than to contact the Ondo REC, to get his fact, His Excellency, Makinde, went to town with unsubstantiated half truth.”
Makanjuola also stated that:”The most painful part of the story is that when the governor visited the scene of where the police officers were killed, he did not show any form of empathy. The corpses were right there on the floor and the governor did not even look at them.
“Another reason I said governor Makinde is playing deceptive politics is the recent attack on the palace of Soun of Ogbomoso by irate youths, where some properties were vandalised. The governor paid a visit to the palace and gave the sum of 10 million Naira to the traditional ruler for the repair of the damaged properties.
“He later through his Chief Press Secretary told the whole world that he donated One Hundred Million Naira. It was when the traditional ruler came out to say via a letter that the governmenor should hold on to the remaining Ninety Milliion Naira and use it for the empowerment of the youths that the truth was revealed.”
Makanjuola, however, concluded that Makinde should as a matter of urgency stop playing politics and give the people of the state the best they can get as indigenes.
With due respect to the ex officer sir! I don’t blame the governor(Makinde) but the police authority who also did not give loud recognition to the sad event! They also took it like a pinch of salt! I know surely one day everyone of us shall give account of our deeds before our Creator! 😢
