By Oluwakemi Ishola

As outrages and protests continue across Nigeria over the harassment, extortion and extra-judicial killings of innocent Nigerians by operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, the Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content and Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Oloye Teslim Folarin has condemned the extrajudicial killing of Mr. Jimoh Isiaq by a policeman during #ENDSARS protest in Ogbomoso on Saturday.

Oloye Folarin, in a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity- Comrade YSO Olaniyi, said he was extremely displeased about the inhumane actions of officers of FSARS.

While commiserating with the family of the killed Jimoh Isiaq, the three-term Senator called on the Oyo State Commissioner of Police to unveil the trigger-happy policeman behind the gruesome killing with a view to prosecuting him in order to serve as deterrent to other erring officers.

The statement read in part:

“I condemn in strongest and unmistaken terms the extrajudicial killing of one of our youths in Ogbomoso, in person of Jimoh Isiaq. This is one death too many in the hands of the operatives of SARS as the Nigerian media is replete with reports of similar treatments and murder of other innocent Nigerians in different parts of the country”.

“Senseless harassment, maiming and killing of unarmed citizens is completely objectionable and unacceptable. Police officers are to protect Nigerians and make lawful arrests. I appreciate the determination of the Inspector General of Police to ensure a comprehensive reform and overhaul of the operations of the police unit – FSARS, he must order Oyo State Commissioner of Police to unveil the officer that shot dead the young man with a view to prosecuting him”.

“While I commiserate with the families and friends of late Jimoh Isiaq, I pledge to join other stakeholders to seek justice for the victim” he concluded.
