The Oyo State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has reiterated its commitment to the advancement of democracy and good governance, despite the seeming ungratefulness exhibited by those it claimed it “helped to power”.
Oyo ADC, rising from a State Executive Committee Meeting held at its Oke-Bola, Ibadan Secretariat, insisted it would not be disappointed, particularly as those it claimed to have helped to power, have become turncoats, and have failed to reciprocate kind gestures, but that as a party, it would continue to organize strategically, forge partnerships where necessary, and even position itself to win elections.
Recall that the African Democratic Congress (ADC), was one of the coalition parties that helped secure victory for Governor Seyi Makinde, then candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), over the then ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which was poised for victory, having won 2 out of the 3 Senatorial Districts and 10, of the 14 House of Representatives Slots in Oyo State, and that, that coalition, which saw Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, Barrister Sarafadeen Alli, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde SAN, and others, governorship candidates of the ADC, ZLP and SDP respectively relinquish their ambitions, in an arrangement midwifed by former Oyo State governor, Senator Rasidi Ladoja, has broken down irretrievably, with a series of back and forth tirades, between Governor Makinde, and the coalition parties.
The State Executive Committee Members who affirmed their loyalty to Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, equally passed a vote of confidence on the Rev. Ezekiel Adeniran-led Executive Committee, promising members it would continue to reward their unflinching support, loyalty and commitment, and that, according to the 6-point Communique signed by Rev. Ezekiel Adeniran, the party’s Acting State Chairman, Pastor David Orolade, and the Assistant Organising Secretary, “the good times shall return”.
