The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has said that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is repositioning the economy of the country to better the lives of Nigerians.

In a statement to mark the 61st independence anniversary of the country, Oyo APC said Nigerians will start to see the results of the Buhari administration’s efforts on economic diversification soon.

The statement signed by Oyo APC caretaker committee publicity secretary, Dr. AbdulAzeez Olatunde, said, “it is not only absurd but funny that the political party and the people that fritter away the oil boom of the early years of the 21st century are still walking the streets of Nigeria as free men and women, and worse still criticising all the repositioning agenda of the Buhari government.”

“The profligate sixteen years of locust, between 1999 and 2015, when Niger qia had the luck of good sales on the mono-dependent oil economy were frittered away with nothing to show for it, whereas other serious countries were diversifying their economy.

“However, with the election of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015, who met ’empty treasury’, and with 33 of the 36 states in Nigeria unable to pay salaries of workers and also failing to honour statutory obligations, we knew that Nigeria is already in serious economic recession.Infact, having had five decades of infrastructural deficit, the Buhari administration began infrastructural revolution to revamp the country’s promising prospect at independence.

“Today, as Nigeria marks its 61st independence anniversary, the stable electricity supply which looks impossible is now almost back with us, with homes across the country now having minimum of 10 hours of electricity power daily, unlike years back when it could be like day dreaming for such.

“Also, train services that had collapsed has been successfully restored.

“One of the multiple infrastructural revolution of President Muhammadu Buhari is the second Niger bridge that linked Asaba, Delta State and the commercial nerve center of the South East, Onitsha, which had been “completed on paper” by the PDP government that bled Nigeria black and blue. The second Niger bridge was started by the government of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2017, and would finally be commissioned all things being equal in the first quarter of 2022.

“Our roads that have become death traps are being aggressively fixed and with unbroken continuity in the next six years, Nigeria is bound to reclaim its promising glory of the independence day in 1960,” the statement said.

According to Oyo APC, the acquisition of six Super Tucano figther jets that were delivered in July and six months training of military personnel in the United States showed that the Buhari administration is ready to tackle insecurity across the country.

“The Buhari government’s assurance to do away with all forms of insecurity before the first quarter of the year 2022 should be taken as its bond. The recent military operations in Zamfara, Sokoto and Katsina States is a pointer to that fact,” it added
