Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has sent a letter to Oyo State House of Assembly, seeking an approval to extend the tenure of Local Government Caretaker Committee for another three months.
Tenure of the caretaker chairmen in all 33 and 35 local governments and LCDAs ends on 19th December 2020.
The House Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, during its Monday plenary, disclosed the house would liaise with the house committee on local and chieftaincy matters before it considers governor’s request on Friday 18th December 2020.
The Governor’s Letter Read in part:
It is my wish that the House of Assembly gives this request accelerated hearing to avoid creating a vacuum in the governance of the Local Government Councils.
The Speaker Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin who read the plenary said the House will work inline with the report generated by its Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
Hon Ogundoyin assured that the request will be attended to by the House on Friday during its plenary.
