The Legacy Stars of Ibadan (LSI), an affiliate of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), has decided marking its 20th anniversary with a series of events aimed at celebrating its contributions to the community and its continued commitment to the development of Ibadan.
Founded in 2004, LSI has grown into a pivotal organization within the CCII, promoting cultural, social and educational initiatives.
The weeklong celebration kicked off on Saturday, May 18, 2024, with a press briefing held at the Ibadan House, Oke Aremo. Mogaji Saheed Oyewale Abiola, President of LSI and Barrister Oladepo Kazeem the organization’s secretary disclosed this while addressing members of the press.
“Good afternoon, gentlemen of the press. We are thrilled to share the exciting activities planned for our 20th anniversary.
“Our goal is to celebrate our past achievements and look forward to future contributions to the Ibadan community.”
Abiola highlighted several key achievements of LSI, saying, “Over the past 20 years, we have successfully organized numerous educational programs, outreach initiatives, and cultural events that have significantly impacted our community. Many of our proudest moments include fighting for the appointment of an Ibadan indigene as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, among others.”

Thanksgiving Service at Methodist Church Nigeria, Wesley Cathedral, Elekuro, Ibadan at 10 AM.
Friendly Match between LSI and The Royal Group (TRG) at Olubadan Stadium, Ibadan at 4 PM.
Day 3: Thursday, May 23, 2024
Rural Medical Outreach at Ajanla Village, Ibadan at 11 AM.
Day 4: Friday, May 24, 2024
Community engagement at Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam, Idikan at 1 PM.
Day 5: Saturday, May 25, 2024
Grand finale at Jogor Centre, Liberty Stadium Road, Ibadan starting at 11 AM.
This day will feature an Inter-Secondary School Debate Competition at 8 AM among 10 public schools within Ibadan, including Saint Gabriel, Government College, Yejide Girls, St Theresa, Ibadan Boys, Oke Ibadan, Baptist, Oke-Ado, and Ansarudeen, Oke-Ado.
Distinguished Guests and Entertainment
The grand finale on May 25th will be graced by several guests. Engr. Femi Babalola FNSE, Chairman of Jogor Centre, will serve as the Chairman of the occasion. The event will also feature Oloye (Engr) Dotun Sanusi, Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, and Agbaoye Kola Karim, Agbaoye of Ibadanland, as Special Guests of Honour.
Barr. (Chief) Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, President General of CCII, will be the Chief Guest of Honour, while Chief Mustapha Adebayo Oyero, former President General of CCII, will be the Father of the Day. Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs) Mutiat Olayinka Ladoja, Cultural Ambassador of Ibadanland, will be honoured as the Mother of the Day. Additional guests include Com. Akin Oladejo and Legacy (Mogaji) Saheed Abiola Oyewale, LSI President.
The celebration will feature music by the renowned Alhaji Abass Akande Obesere PK 1st, ensuring an entertaining and memorable occasion.
The event is organized by the anniversary committee chaired by Legacy (Dcn.) Ademola Alabi JP, with Legacy Gbolasire Oluseye serving as the secretary.
