Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde on Monday presented brand new Land Cruiser Prado Jeeps to the out-gone and the newly elected chairmen of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Makinde while presenting the keys of the Jeeps to Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro who is the newly elected state chairman of the PDP and Alhaji Omokunmi Mustapha the out-gone chairman at Government House Agodi Ibadan, said the jeeps are parting gifts.
Governor Makinde who was ably represented by Senator Hosea Agboola described him as a kindhearted man who cares for the party and the masses in the state, stressing that If other governors can emulate his uniqueness, Nigeria will soon be great.
He said, “This is the first time we are having this kind of development in the state, and it is a very laudable event, I believed and pray that this party will continue to rule forever in the state so that our people can continue to enjoy the dividend of democracy.
“The newly elected chairman should allow the government to return to the party so that this good work can continue in the state”, Hosea said.
The Incumbent Chairman, Hon. Ogungbenro in his word said, “the people of Oyo of state should expect anything less because the governor has set the race, so we have nothing than to be focused.
He said, “Politics they said is power and power is the basis of development and we have seen for the first time possibly after Awolowo and Bola Ige what politics is all about, so the people of Oyo state should be expecting better things than what we are currently witnessing.
“The era of six months salary deficit has gone, the era of infrastructural deficit has gone, education has been reformed, with what is on ground we should expect more because our governor is an amiable leader of the party in the state and south west and is also focus and that is what we need.
“The era of those who are not prepared to lead is gone, you have to work hard if you want to serve your people”, Ogungbenro said.
In his speech, the out-gone chairman of the party, Hon. Mustapha said, I’m just too happy as regards what the governor has done for us because this is the first time we are experiencing this great gesture, and I must say that we are making history today, especially in Oyo State PDP to see this kind of arrangement.
“This is the first of its kind, this is the first gathering where we will be having the outgoing Chairman of the party and the newly elected chairman coming together and to be hosted like this, which means we are handling over to each other and this has never happen in the history of Oyo state.
“God has made it work perfectly because I come from Oke-Ogun, the newly elected Chairman also come from Oke-Ogun, so we are brothers, after eight good years of our party in the opposition, we brought back the party to government and we are here doing the handling over, my prayer is that as God has made it that we are opportuned to snatch back the government from the APC I wish it continues and by the grace of God we are going to cover our eight years without any hindrances.
“My message to the newly elected executives is to allow love to reign among themselves, they should not allow anybody to come in between them, to divide them because where there is peace and love, there will be success”, Mustapha said.
Also present at the presentation of the car gifts are the well wishers of the beneficiaries, some PDP party chieftains, the Chief press Secretary to Governor Makinde, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, PDP State Publicity Officer, Engr. Akeem Olatunji among others.
