Osun Partners FG To Tackle Tropical Diseases

Osun State Government under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke has partnered with the Federal Government to combat the Neglected Tropical Diseases across the state, especially in the rural areas.

 

The state government intensifies the quest for improved health care service delivery in the state,with a special programme that begins in Ife-South Local Government Area, with the training of health workers,for free distribution of drugs to curb the menace of the “Neglected Tropical Diseases” NTDs like: “Schistosomiasis” known as snail fever,”onchocerciasis” river blindness and other NTDs.

 

Speaking on the objectives of the programme,the state Coordinator for Amen Health and Empowerment Foundation,a private partner for the programme, Emmanuel Mariere says,the programme is aimed at improving the health of the grassroot dwellers, while urging the “Community Drugs Distributors (CDD) ,and other volunteers to ensure their services reach the less-privileged in the society.

 

 

On his part, Dr. Olajide Fatoki who led the supervisory team of the World Health Organization urged the grassroot dwellers to cooperate with the health workers,to ensure the success of the programme.

 

On hand to receive the team of the health officials was the Caretaker Chairman of Ife-South Local Government Area Honourable Muyiwa Aroke, who was represented by his Supervisory Councilor for Health Honourable Muyiwa Kolajo.
