Oyo Labour Unions To Meet Workers Thursday

The Oyo State Labour Movement have unanimously agreed to meet all her members at NLC State Secretariat, American Quarters, Agodi, Yidi,Ibadan on Thursday.

According to the Unions, the emergency call-up comes as the state government led by Engr. Seyi Makinde is yet to meet the six cardinal demands of the Labour within the four-day ultimatum which the deadline it gave the government expired on Monday 24th July, 2023.

This is contained in a communique jointly signed by the chairperson, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC Oyo State Chapter, Mr. Kayode Martins and chairman, Trade Union Council, TUC, Oyo State Chapter, Comrade Olatunbosun Olabiyi made available to newsmen on Wednesday directing all workers in the state to resume work at NLC Secretariat for deliberations on Thursday 27th July from 7.45am in the morning which would enable the congress of workers, slated for Thursday to decide on the next line of action for the leadership of labour in the state over its planned industrial actions.

Recall, the Labour Leaders had last week Thursday requested payment of salary deductions arrears and subsequent payment of full salary; palliatives for workers and Oyo residents; upward review of pensions; payment of leave bonuses from 2021; payment of gratuity to retired civil servants that have been stagnated since 2021 and release of promotion letters for the promoted staff and lift embargo on promotion for 2021 and 2022.
