The Forum of Oyo State Indigenes in Nigerian Law (2021/2022) session has appealed to Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde to approve the prompt disbursement of the bursary for 2021/2022 set.
The appeal by the law students was contained in a press release jointly signed by the Chairman of the Forum, Ayomide Gbolahan and the General Secretary of the Forum, Oyekanmi Samuel.
The Law students who commended the Governor for his payment of bursaries to previous sets of the Oyo Law students and the giant strides he has achieved in the development of Oyo State since he took over, appealed to him to promptly approve the disbursement of the bursary for the 2021/2022 set.
“We are using this medium to first of all commend our Governor, the builder of the ‘modern’ Oyo State for the overall development we are all witnessing since he took over the mantles of leadership in Oyo State. We are calling on our Governor who has paid bursaries to the two previous sets of the Oyo State students in the Nigerian Law School to equally approve the prompt disbursement of the bursary for the 2021/2022 set.
“We respectfully want to inform His Excellency that the Director
of Administration and Secretary to Council for Legal Education in Nigerian Law School Headquarters, Bwari, Abuja has forwarded the comprehensive list of 218 Law School Students of Oyo state origin for 2021/2022 session to Oyo State
Scholarship Board for further processing for the award of bursary.
“We also want to inform our Governor that the Executive Members of Forum of Oyo State Indigenes, Nigerian Law School, 2021/2022 academic session have made several attempts to no avail to pay a courtesy visit to Your Excellency in order to commend and appreciate you personally for the good job you’re doing in Oyo State. We also want to inform His Excellency of the students support for his second term in office.”
The Forum added that the current economic situation in the country is seriously affecting the students in law schools, noting that prompt disbursement of the bursary for the 2021/2022 set of Oyo State origin will go along way in assisting them.
