Oyo Majority Leader Mourns Former Governor, Akala

The Majority Leader of Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin has expressed deep pain and sorrow over the death of the former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala.

Adedoyin condoled with the state government, people of Oyo State most especially Ogbomoso indigenes over the passing of Akala whose contributions to the development of the state, and nation, will always be remembered.

The Majority Leader made his feelings known while interacting with the people who paid a condolence visit to him.

According to him, Adedoyin revealed the nature of the relationship between him and the deceased, saying he had lost a father in peace and in war.

He said, “Late Akala was my father in war and in peace. He was a respected officer, a good leader and a patriot.

“All those who came in contact with him have recognized him as a brave man of vision and energy. These qualities he brought to bear in his service to Oyo state and Nigeria as a whole.

“In politics, he was dogged to establish democracy and rule of law.

“The late Akala was a highly intelligent person and very brave in the face of challenges. He was prepared and did leave his post on a point of honour and principle. He was a worthy and a true son of Ogbomoso.

“Erin wo, Ajanaku sun bi Oke, Erin subu ko le dide.
Emi o mo pe erin o wo logun odun..
Idameji ilu ti won n pe lenikan.’’

He commiserated with the family of the former governor, who served the country, winning the governorship election in 2007, remaining steadfast and consistent in his progressive views, and working for the sustainance of Oyo state.

Majority Leader prays that the Almighty God will comfort the family of the former governor, and grant him a peaceful rest.
