Nyesom Wike governor of Rivers, and his allies, including — Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Seyi Makinde of Oyo and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu were absent as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flagged off its presidential campaign.

The party ahead of the 2023 general elections began its presidential campaign on Monday at the Godswill International Stadium in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom.

This indicated that the crisis rocking the PDP is far from being settled as several talks to pacify the Wike’s camp appear to be abortive.

The aggrieved governors and members of the camp have shunned the party’s activities, indicating that they are not ready to support Atiku’s presidential ambition.

Those present at the event include; Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of the PDP; Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate; and his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa.

Others are former senate presidents David Mark, Bukola Saraki and Anyim Pius Anyim, former lawmaker representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye among other top party officials.

Governors at the venue include Godwin Obaseki of Edo, Douye Diri of Bayelsa, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom, Darius Ishaku of Taraba, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi and Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa.
