PHOTOS: Adedeji Olajide gives N78m financial grants to 500 constituents on Ileya eve

Monday was a special day for 500 PDP leaders and members in Ibadan South West and Ibadan North West Federal Constituency as the lawmaker representing the area in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedeji Stanley Oladeji popularly called Odidiomo donated N78million to his people as a form of economic stimulus to strengthen their financial status.

It was commendation galore for Stanley Olajide Odidiomo as the Chairman of Ibadan South West, Hon. Tajudeen Adigun and all party leaders present described the gesture as first of its kind.

According to Adigun and other PDP leders, this was the first time such gesture would be given to the people in the Council area,just as they prayed for Stanley Olajide Odidiomo to succeed in his efforts at lifting people out of poverty.

The lawmaker distributed the cash grants to the beneficiaries at his Ring road Adeoyo residence in Ibadan on Monday.

The beneficiaries of the grants were youths, widows and vulnerable groups in the constituency.

The empowerment programme was organised by the lawmaker in conjunction with the Federal Cooperative College, Ibadan.

Adedeji Olajide said that the programme was a package designed to help the beneficiary boost their businesses and cushion the effect of inflation.

According to him, the programme has three different categories of beneficiaries who got N20,000, N25,000 and N50,000 each.

He said the next batch would be for those to be given N100,000, N200, 000 and more, saying his people’s welfare was paramount to him.

 

He lamented the increasing rate of unemployment, poverty and inflation in the country, saying the efforts was to alleviateĀ  the sufferings of constituents.

“This programme is in conjunction with the Federal Cooperative College, Ibadan to give grant to women, youths and under privileged in my federal constituency.

“Today, what we have done was for 500 constituents. We gave them the grants because of the situation of the country now. We need to ease the pains of our people,” Stanley Adedeji Olajide Odidiomo said.

“This is the first tranche of this empowerment programme. We just gave financial grants to 500 constituents at a total sum of N78million. The next tranche will be for those in the categories of N100,000, N200, 000 and above,” he said.

The lawmaker commended the Ademola Babalola led executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in the state on the Journalists’ Estate initiative, which would be launched tomorrow by 11am at the NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku Ibadan by 11am.

Olajide lauded the initiative which is aimed at providing affordable housing for the Journalists, just as he called on all and sundry to attend the event and donate towards the affordable housing for journalists.

Mrs. Silifat Olanrewaju, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, commended Olajide for his kind gesture.

Olanrewaju, who is the PDP Ward 3 Chairman in Ibadan North-West Local Government, said it was the first time a representative of the constituency would do such for them.

She appreciated Olajide and prayed that God would continue to bless him abundantly.
