Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) on Tuesday urged the people particularly Ibadan indigenes to desist from defamatory comments on the succession to Olubadan of Ibadanland throne.
CCII stated that king makers and other stakeholders are on the verge to resolve the matter, assuring that the successor to the throne will be announced and inaugurated soon.
Pacesetter news understands that there have been controversies over the succession to the throne of Olubadan following the death of Oba Saliu Adetunji, the 41st Olubadan.
Speaking with journalists on Tuesday in Ibadan at a press conference to usher in this year’s “Ibadan Cultural Festival and Official Launching of ‘www.Ibadancultural festival.com’,” the CCII President General, Prince Yemisi Adeaga noted that all issues relating to succession to the throne will soon be laid to rest.
The CCII President General added that this year’s cultural festival calendar was already concluded before the departure of the late monarch, saying that the program was to promote culture, tradition and development that have taken place in Ibadanland.
“The festival would showcase to the world that Ibadan is made up of great men and women as well as people of great standard in terms of human capacity and developmental projects”, Adeaga said.
He however said that the 10 days program of the event include: Oke’badan parade and cultural display, special Jumat service, Amala day, royal visit to Olubadan, award night among others.
