The United States Of America says it is reevaluating the migrant visa ban on some categories of Nigerians following its satisfaction with the level of compliance in information sharing and other concerns raised by its government.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mustapha Suleiman, disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the end of the inaugural meeting of the U.S/Nigeria Forum in Abuja.
According to Suleiman, the Forum would serve as a platform where both countries can progressively improve on bilateral relations and address concerns for the benefit of their citizens.
He added that the Nigerian government has put a lot of efforts in meeting the requirements which was why the U.S government is reevaluating its earlier stance.
He said The consular forum was agreed on earlier in the year during the Bi-National Commission of the United States and Nigeria which was held in Washington.
According to Suleiman, the Forum would serve as a platform where both countries can progressively improve on bilateral relations and address concerns for the benefit of their citizens.
Also speaking, U.S Ambassador to Nigeria, Mary Beth Leonard commended Nigeria on the progress made in information sharing and other concerns raised by the U.S government which led to the lifting of the ban.
