The Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo Chapter (now Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo) has joined the academic family in congratulating Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan over his appointment as the pioneer Vice Chancellor, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo by the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE.
In a release personally signed and made available to the press by the Branch Chairman, Dr. Michael Bamidele Ojo (MOB), the Union describes the appointment of the renowned Economist, Educationist and current Dean, Center for Economics and Finance, University of Ibadan, Nigeria as “a right decision by the Oyo State Government. Indeed, His Excellency, Gov. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde deserves a thumb up for this historic feat.”
Quoting the release, “We received with joy the appointment of a renowned Economist, Educationist, Distinguished scholar and current Dean, Center for Economics and Finance, University of Ibadan, Nigeria, Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan as the pioneer Vice Chancellor, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo by the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, FNSE. As a Union that has followed the activities of this government on the transition of our dear College to a University properly, we commend the choice of the Governor for this exalted position. It is our hope that the new Chief Executive and pioneer Vice Chancellor will bring his wealth of experience to bear in building an enviable University system.
“Prof. Olanrewaju Olaniyan Adeyemo is a friend to us as he has a track record when he served as the Council Chairman at the College of Education, Lanlate. He is undoubtedly a round peg in a round hole and we are very sure that he shall bring his wealth of experience into laying a solid and enviable foundation that we shall all be proud of. We look forward to working with him while we hope he shall partner with the Governor, particularly in advancing the cause of educational development. We are sure that having him from the ivory tower coupled with his experience in governance and understanding of labour unions, will ease the realization of many of our agitations with the Oyo State Government.
“It is important to specially appreciate and acknowledge the efforts of the Chairman, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education Implementation Committee, Professor Ayodeji Omole for a job well done on the upgrade of our College to a University status. He indeed demonstrated academic and leadership prowess throughout the exercise.
