Oyo State has recorded 31 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the state to 107. The State is now 12th position on the Nigeria COVID-19 log.
The Executive Governor of Oyo State and Chairman Oyo State Taskforce on COVID-19 made this known via his official facebook page
According to Makinde, “the COVID-19 confirmation tests for thirty-one suspected cases came back POSITIVE. Thirty of these cases are members of staff of the same organisation based in Ibadan South West Local Government Area. The organisation has been shut down and will be decontaminated”
The governor urged members of the public to remain calm as the situation is under control. He said the state Taskforce has Intensified contact tracing.
“The remaining one case is from Egbeda Local Government Area. So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State as at 8 PM today, is 107”
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Control of Disease (NCDC) on Saturday 16th May 2020 has confirmed 176 new cases in the FCT and 13 other states.
According to NCDC via its Twitter handle, total confirmed cases in Nigeria now stand at 5621; 1472 have been discharged and 176 deaths have been recorded so far.
