Hon. Ademola Ojo, an All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives aspirant in Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency has debunked speculation of his defection to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He told newsmen on Tuesday in Ibadan that the rumour of his possible defection was a figment of the writer and his sponsor’s imagination.

An online medium ‘Peoples Conscience’ reported that Ojo had defected from the APC to PDP and Gov. Seyi Makinde has given him the House of Representatives ticket for the constituency.

Ojo called on members of the APC in the state to disregard such baseless and unfounded rumour, describing it as the handiwork of some mischievous opponents.

According to him, “I just heard that the owner of this online medium is working for some political opponent. What he has just done is yellow and irresponsible journalism.

“He needs to be thought a lesson, so that he will henceforth adhere strictly to the ethics of the profession if you needed to practice at all.

“I have told my lawyer and sent the publication to security agencies including the DSS. He will learn his lesson,” he said.

He wondered what the publisher of the libelous report tend to gain from destroying him with unfounded and baseless report against his personality.

“As a journalist, it is your responsibility to publish balanced and verified reports. This report is aimed at blackmailing me. It is the handiwork of some mischievous opponents.

“The publisher of this story knows the ethics of journalism before allowing himself to be used for this hatchet job. I will sue him for allowing himself to be used,” he said.

He added that the era of someone writing to tarnish people’s image was gone and whoever feels he or she is above the law needs to be thought some lessons.
