Jubilation as Akinremi wins at Appeal Court, defeats Omotoso for third time

The Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan on Tuesday affirmed the lower Tribunal’s judgment which confirmed a lawmaker representing Ibadan North federal constituency,Ā Hon. Musiliudeen Olaide Akinremi popularly called JagabanĀ of Oyo State as the winner of the February 23 Election into the House of Representatives,Ā 
Akinremi Jagaban of the All Progressives Congress garneredĀ 17,048 votes toĀ defeat Mr. Ademola Omotoso of the Peoples Democratic PartyĀ who had 16,237 votes.
Ā Akinremi emerged as the only candidate of the APC to win in Ibadan metropolis, where the opposition Peoples Democratic Party tsunami consumed the aspiration of other parties’ candidates, including Governor Abiola Ajimobi, seeking senatorial bid in Oyo south.

Like the tribunal’s earlier position, the appeal court judges on Tuesday, said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was right in its declaration of Akinremi as the winner.

Amidst jubilation galore by his supporters from across wards 1 to 12 in Ibadan North federal constituency, Akinremi Jagaban took to his verified Facebook and remarked thus: “Thank you God; thanks to the good people of Ibadan North.
“The judgement shows that the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency cast their votes to support our course in the last general election.
Akinremi Jagaban continued, “We thank Almighty God on all the court judgement so far. Finally all court cases have been won and we shall have enough time to see to more amenities that awaits our Federal Constituency.
“This judgment will give me ample opportunity to be more focussed on attracting federal government projects; greater employment for youths in Ibadan North; empowerment for traders, artisans and my foundation (Prince Akinremi Foundation will be more strengthened to support more needies.
“More importantly, I will participate more actively in the lawmaking for the greater good of the people of Ibadan North in particular, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole,” Akinremi Jagaban added.
