Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde; his wife, Omini; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi; the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambari; pioneer Vice Chancellor, Caleb University, Lagos, Professor Olurotimi Tayo are among nine Nigerians to be honoured by the Ibadan Recreation Club (1902) next Friday.
Makinde is to be invested as grand patron of the club, Omini as honorary life member, while Oba Ogunwusi and Alhaji Gambari will be inaugurated as patrons and Olurotimi as a Trustee.
Others to be honoured are Chairman, Ibadan Business School, Mr Yinka Fasuyi; and Managing Director, AMNI International Petroleum Company Limited, Mr Tunde Afolabi as patrons; while former Chief Whip, Osun State House of Assembly, Babayomi Taiwo; and former President of the club, Mr Olagoke Oladinni will be decorated as trustees of the club.
President, Ibadan Recreation Club (1902), Mr Olumakinde Oni made this known while addressing journalists at the club premises, on Monday in Ibadan.
Asked what informed the choices, Oni said the honorees boasted of proven integrity, past successes in their various fields, exemplar philanthropy, wealth of experience, renowned societal standing, great resources and remarkable educational background.
With the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji serving as Royal Father of the day, the honorees and guests will be launching a legacy project.
Oni added that the set to be inaugurated patrons, trustees and life member will help in sustenance of the club, existing since 1902, for generations to come
