Making a Case for Conferment of a National Honour on BOVAS Filling Station Boss, Dr. Victoria Samson

The story of incessant fuel scarcity is no more a news to Nigerians as it has become a recurring decimal. While we were basking in a seeming euphoria of having got out of it last year, long queue started at filling stations across the country in almost three months now while news of having it till after the 2023 elections have just been broken.

However, it interests many Nigerians just like I, that BOVAS Filling Station has remained ever consistent just like it has been over the years. I must specially commend the Managing Director, Dr. Victoria A. Samson for standing tall and out despite the pressures arising from the fuel scarcity.

The Managing Director is a marketer per excellence having an experience of over twenty-five (25) years in the Oil and Gas industry as dealer with both Texaco Nigeria Plc and Mobil Plc.

She was the first Nigerian to win the highly competitive Texaco Latin America West Africa (LAWA) Award for Best Overall Dealer in 1990 for the highest sales in both regions combined.

She is the Matron of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), NNPC/PPMC Satellite Depot, Ejigbo, Lagos State and Apata Depot Ibadan, Oyo State.

Her philanthropic gestures in educational advancements in the area of scholarships to indigent students and infrastructural facilities in schools are unparalleled.

As a Nigerian, while I have not met this woman for once in my life, I find it difficult to keep silent in publicly commending the management of BOVAS under the amiable leadership of this God-fearing woman who is undoubtedly using her business to preach the gospel of a better nation. Till now, BOVAS is aggressively ameliorating the suffering of commuters by consistently selling at #180.00 per litre. Infact, people feel pleased queuing at any of her stations considering the price margin to buying at #250-#270 elsewhere.

Premised on the foregoing, I wish to call on the President and Commander-in-Chief, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari to consider bestowing a National Honour on this responsible and progessive-minded citizen, Dr. Victoria A. Samson. This, if done, will not only spur her to do more but will encourage more Nigerians to join in building a nation of our dreams. Sincerely, this woman deserves a GCON honours like the Dangotes of the world.

Indeed, Nigeria can be a better place for all through governmental encouragements.
