Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Oyo State, some residents in the state have warned political gladiators in the state, particularly a former Governor of the state to desist from comments that could heat up the politics in the state.
They lament that the body languages and utterances of the former Governor against a particular governorship candidate is uncalled for and could lead to something else if not curtailed.
Our correspondence can deduced that an Ibadan Senior Chief and an elder stateman attitude has created a lot of misgivings within the space of Nigeria politics and has been cautioned to play the game according to the rules.
Some of the residents who pleaded anonymity alleged that the former governor allegedly worked against the candidacy of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that he has also started working against the re-election of Governor Seyi Makinde.
“Tinubu at a point in time assisted him during challenges.
“The ex governor tackled Tinubu and never supported him. He collected money from Atiku and urged people to vote against Tinubu as it is unfair to be working against the success of a Yoruba candidature.” The people declared.
They however said there must be consistency in the affairs of politics in Oyo State particularly Ibadanland, adding that people in the state are now wise and intelligent enough to choose who will be their next governor without been brainwashed or forced.
