Two chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have joined other party stakeholders in reacting to the ongoing reconciliation process within the progressive family in the Pacesetter state.

In his reaction, an ex chief whip of Oyo State House of Assembly and chieftain of Oyo APC, Hon. Adigun Murphy has lauded the reconciliatory efforts of the Acting National Chairman of APC – Governor Mai Mala Buni, Governor Kayode Fayemi and ex Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala in making sure that the lost glory of the party in Oyo State is restored, describing it as positive moves in a positive direction.

Hon. Murphy was giving his commendation four days after the well-attended expanded reconciliation meeting of the party, held at Jericho Ibadan residence of Governor Fayemi.

The former lawmaker called on gladiators and members of the party to close ranks and build a united and stronger party in the state.

“It is time for all aggrieved individuals and groups to put the past behind and forge ahead. It is time to collapse all factions and groups of the party in the state and unite firmly behind former Governor Alao-Akala” he said

Hon. Murphy further advised those opposing the leadership of Otunba Alao-Akala not to underrate or take the Ogbomoso-born politician for granted because he has a lot of positive ideas, experiences and programmes that he could offer the party.

“It is visible to the blind and audible to the deaf that Otunba Alao-Akala is the only capable person that can provide qualitative and purposeful leadership for Oyo APC. We must cherish and appreciate Alao-Akala by tapping from his wealth of experience, because this will assist APC to reclaim the lost glory in 2023.”

However, ex Chairman of Oyo SUBEB – Prof. Soji Adejumo while expressing his displeasure over the outcome of the Edo gubernatorial elections, frowned at the externalisation of reconciliatory process in Oyo APC.

In his words, “with the outcome of EDO State election, I think the Grand theatre playing out in Oyo state must come to a quick end and move to the arena of reality before it is too late”.

“The current approach of resolving party issues in Abuja or in the domain of people external to our peculiarities is an exercise in futility and a road to nowhere. It’s a mere dissipation of useful energy. What we need is our home grown roadmap that will be collectively agreed and taken to higher levels for critical appraisal and adoption. Not the other way round. The clock is ticking” he concluded.
