The Chairman of Fresh FM Nigeria, Dr. Yinka Ayefele, MON has commiserated with the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde over the demise of his mother, Mrs. Abigail Makinde who answered the final call yesterday, Thursday, 14th October, 2020 at the age of 80 years.

In a release signed by his Publicist, David Ajiboye, Dr. Ayefele said ” it was most shocking to hear the sad demise of our dearly beloved mother, Mama Abigail Makinde early yesterday.

“Although, this is God’s will ordained in His laws and indeed a sad reality of life.

At such moment like this, we are left with no alternative but to bow to Almighty’s will and seek His mercy and blessing for our dear departed Mama.

“May God in His infinite mercy grant you and the family the endurance to bear this loss. Amen”, the release concluded.

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose has commiserated with the Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde over the death of his mother, Abigail Omojolagbe Makinde.

In a statement on Thursday, by his Media Aide, Lere Olayinka, the former governor, said “even though Madam Abigail Makinde died at the age of 81, no matter how old, no one will desire to lose a beloved mother.”

“I commiserate with Governor Seyi Makinde and his family members over the death of Mama Abigail.

“Having just buried my late elder sister, who died recently, I understand how painful it is to lose a beloved one, not to talk of a mother.

“I feel the pains of the Makinde’s especially the governor and I can only pray that God will console them and grant them the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

“The Almighty God will continue to make the memories of Mama Abigail Sweet and Glorious and his soul will rest in peace,” Fayose said.

The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has been commended for the approving rehabilitation of the 45.3 kilometres Saki-Igboho road, in Oke-Ogun area of the state.

Giving the commendation was a freedom fighter and Ibadan-based businessman, Chief Sunday Adeyemo (Sunday Igboho) in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, on Thursday.

Adeyemo, who hails from Igboho in Orelope Local Government Area of Oyo state, noted that the move by the state government under the leadership of governor Seyi Makinde, is quite commendable adding that the development is an attestation to the fact that the governor is a man of his words as he had promised during his governorship campaign to ensure that every nooks and cranny of the state would witness overall development as soon as he becomes the governor.

He added that:”I am very sure when the rehabilitation work on the road is completed, it would further boost the economic ties between the two towns, part of which is agriculture of which prides the towns as two major hubs for food production in the state.

“Once again, I want to thank the governor and the entire members of the state executive council for considering the rehabilitation of the road. I am very sure that the people of the two towns who are direct beneficiaries of the road would make judicious use of it and would forever remain grateful to the present administration in the state” he said.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content and Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Oloye Teslim Folarin has commiserated with Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on the death of his mother.

Com. YSO Olaniyi, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the three-term Senator, quoted Folarin as saying in his condolence message that the death of Madam Abigail Omojolagbe Makinde as a glorious home call of an irreplaceable matriarch.

The Pacesetter News reports that Engr Seyi Makinde’s  died in the early hours of Thursday in Ibadan at the age of 80years plus.

“I wish to commiserate with Gov. Seyi Makinde and the entire family on the passage of their matriarch. The death of mama is indeed a great loss, not just to the Makinde family, but the entire state.

“We can all attest to the fact that mama lived a fulfilled and exemplary life and this is worthy of emulation,” the lawmaker said.

He added that the deceased would be greatly missed for her motherly role, timely advice, support and consistent prayer for the Makindes and the state at large.

Senator Folarin prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

The police have said that no member of the now-defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) will be a part of the newly constituted Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team.

Following a very intense protest that has lasted for days, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, dissolved the infamous subunit of the force, SARS.

Two days after disbanding SARS, the IGP set up a SWAT unit, however, this move did not go down well with those who had protested for the dissolution of the anti-robbery squad, causing them to change the mantra from #EndSARS to #EndSWAT.

The call for the disbanding of the new unit is hinged on the arguments suggesting that the decision to immediately replace SARS operatives with SWATis hasty and unpremeditated.

In a bid to throw more light on the new unit set up by the IGP, the police put out a statement via Twitter stating what their mandate will be, however, rather than refer to them as SWAT, police spokesman Frank Mba who put out the statement used the phrase ‘Tactical Team’.

It is unclear if the Police have changed the name of the newly constituted unit from SWAT to Tactical Team, but the spokesman said no operative of SARS will be included in the new team.

He also noted that the operations of the Tactical Team will be strictly intelligence-driven. Members of the new Tactical Team are also expected not to embark on routine patrols.

They are barred from the indiscriminate and unlawful search of phones, laptops, and other smart devices.

Mr. Mba’s communique also states that those who will be members of the new Tactical Team must be free of any pending disciplinary matter especially those that touch on misuse of firearms and abuse of human rights.

It adds that the new Tactical Team will only: “respond to robbery attacks, respond to scenes of weapon-related crimes, rescue operations, and special operations involving high profile crimes”.
