The chief judge of Kogi state, Nasir Ajanah, is dead.
It was gathered that he died as a result of complications from COVID-19 infection at an isolation centre in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
Nigerian US-Based invents equipment capable of detecting Covid-19 infected lungs
A Nigerian US-based medical expert, Dr Samson Arigbamu has invented a
stethoscope equipped with components capable of immediately identify adventitious lung such as Covid-19 infected lungs that will immediately announce its findings.
Arigbamu disclosed on Sunday in a mail to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital that the stethoscope is in production at prototype and optimization stage, which the final product would commence by December, noting that however, the process could be expedited with resources from individuals, organizations or even the Nigerian government.
Dr Arigbamu have been living in the USA for about 22 years and currently the Director of Nursing at Future Care Lochearn, a 200 bed capacity health rehabilitation center in Baltimore Maryland.
He has been on employment of the company for 10 years, prior to that, he was a director of nursing at Manor Care Woodbridge in Baltimore Maryland for over 3 years. Also currently own and operate a private clinic called Upsurge Health Associate in Freeland, Maryland.
Dr Arigbamu maintained that the eventual production of the stethoscope would be a great achievement of pride to Nigeria government for a simple fact that a citizen of the country invented such critical medical equipment worthy of a USA patent, hence, soliciting support from Nigeria government.
Arigbamu explained that having worked in the healthcare field for over 20 years, he had seen healthcare providers including nurses, mid level providers and physicians struggle with identifying lung and heart sounds.
As a result, chest x-rays, EKGs and other cardiac interrogative tests are often ordered to identify adventitious lung and heart conditions.
He noted that clinical issue with these expensive tests and devices is that, they are incapable of identify adventitious sounds and providing immediate and accurate feedback, consequently, utilization of such devices often result in significant clinical and health issues for the patients as well as a waste of valuable resource.
According to him, “As a result of these challenges, in 2018 I started working on inventing a digital stethoscope that could identify lung and heart sounds, interpret the sounds and immediately announce its findings to the users. The stethoscope is also capable of integrating its data into electronic medical record.
“With such capabilities, it will enhance physical assessment vital to health care providers and novice users. It will also ensure opportunities for timely intervention and prevention of further health decline in patients.
“The stethoscope is also equipped with electronic medical record (EMR) integration capabilities (essential to telemedicine) in order improve care coordination and patient information portability.
“The project received a USA patent on June 2nd 2020 and is currently in prototype phase of production in the USA and Ukraine.
“The eventual production of the stethoscope would be a great achievement of pride to Nigeria for a simple fact that a citizen of the country invented such critical medical equipment worthy of a USA patent”.

A former Minister of Sports and Special Duty, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja has described the death of a former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi as a loss too many for him to comprehend.
Adedoja in a condolence message he personally signed on Saturday said, “since the announcement of the demise of our brother , Sen Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi, I havenāt found the appropriate words to describe the deep wound his death has placed in my heart.
“Politics apart, late Sen Ajimobi radiated peace among his close friends during his lifetime . My closeness and friendship with him dates back to the late 90s when we both expressed our interest in serving our country.
“Ever since three of us : Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala , Sen Ajimobi and I contested for the governorship election in 2007 under PDP, ANPP and AC respectively , with Otunba Akala emerging the governor of Oyo State my relationship with Egbon ( as I fondly called him) has transcended political divide prior to my return to the same political party with him before his painful death.
“A striking feature of Late Governor Ajimobiās life worth emulating by Nigerian leaders was his compassion for his family inspite of official responsibilities.
“Late Governor Ajimobi will forever be remembered in the political anals of Oyo State as an achiever , visionary and exemplary leader.
“Rest In Peace Egbon, May Almighty Allah grant comfort to your family and loved ones,” he prayed.
Olopoenia says Ajimobi’s achievements as Governor will be difficult to surpass

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state, Alhaji Abulrasheed Adebisi Olopoenia, has commiserated with the family of late immediate past governor of Oyo state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who died on Thursday.
Olopoenia, in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday, described the late former governor of the state as one of the prides of Ibadan and indeed Oyo state at large whose absence would be sorely missed.
According to the statement, “I see Ajimobi’s death as a personal loss because during his lifetime, he always made me proud due to his peculiar ways of doing things and his exploits both in the political scene and the business world.
“I recall in 2012, one year into his administration as governor of Oyo State, he invited me to his house through Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle despite knowing that I did not support his gubernatorial ambition.
“When I got to his house, I asked him why the invitation? that I did not support him during the election. It was at that point that he said because I had the guts to say it to his face, that we have become brothers henceforth.
“Ever since that meeting in 2012, he has been a very good man to me and giving series of support financial assistance inclusive. Not minding the fact that I do not belong to his political party.
“I started praying for him the moment I got to know about his admission into the hospital, but God knows why he chose to take him at this point in time. I wept profusely when I received the news of his demise.
“There is no doubt about the fact that Ajimobi’s antecedents in governance of Oyo state remain unprecedented which successive administrations in the state would have to strive hard to equal or surpass.
“If anyone says Ajimobi was not a good man, my reaction to that is that Ajimobi is like a talking drum which faces one person and backs the other.
“I therefore, join other mourners to sympathise with his immediate family, business associates, political allies as well as the entire people of Oyo state on this irreparable loss and also pray to the almighty Allah the gracious, merciful and the most beneficent to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss,” he concluded.

Ajimobi was the heart and soul of Oyo APC – Lamiju Akala

The Executive Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government Area, Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, has described the death of former Governor Abiola Ajimobi as a rude shock and a bitter pill to swallow.
The young Alao-Akala in a condolence statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, said Senator Ajimobi was his father, leader and benefactor.
Part of the statement reads:
āI am deeply shattered by the passing of His Excellency Abiola Ajimobi. He was a giant and respected Nigerian leader who brought profound insight, commitment, and moral fortitude to the governance of Oyo State during his 8years reign as Executive Governorā

Amosun consoles Ajimobi family
Former Governor of Ogun State and Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has commiserated with the family of Senator Abiola Ajimobi who passed away on Thursday.
In a letter addressed to the wife of Senator Ajimobi, Chief (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, Senator Amosun described Senator Ajimobi as a highly skilled and educated professional, who had a successful career in the private sector, culminating in his appointment as the Chief Executive of National Oil Corporation of Nigeria.
He noted that Senator Ajimobi distinguished himself in the service of Oyo State where he made history as the first to be elected Governor twice just as in the Senate where he served as a principal officer in the fifth Senate.

The demise of the former governor of Oyo State, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi has triggered a wave of shock and grief among leaders cutting across political spectrum, paying glowing tributes to the astute leader.
Among the personalities from the political fraternity pouring condolences in the late hours on Thursday, 25th of June, 2020 for the departed former governor of Oyo State, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi is a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party in Oyo State, Asiwaju Rotimi Ajanaku, who described the late governor as a political giant, towering intellectual and astute administrator as well as an articulate leader who made great impact in Oyo State.
“I’m deeply anguished by the demise of our extremely valued political leader, a seasoned political brain, sharp mind, astute strategist, exemplary parliamentarian, exceptional communicator and outstanding governor after much battling to return to life within the short time he contracted the terrible virus.
“We have lost a great man blessed with mental cleverness, a superb sense of humour and charisma. He was a proficient administrator by profession and an efficient politician by passion. The Chairman, Oyo Pacesetters Transport, Dare Adeleke has described the death of former government of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi as a great loss to the state.
Adeleke who says he is still reeling in shock over the death of the respected statesman said: “He was an Ibadan irredentist and my uncle that loved me with all his heart. We are from Oja ‘ba just as His Excellency, Gov Seyi Makinde. He will be greatly missed. A genuine and kindhearted man.” Adeleke stressed that Ajimobi definitely left his footprint in the sand of time.
In a statement issued in Ibadan, Adeleke said: “Ajimobi also noted that the late senator impacted in everyone who came in contact with him. “He was a great administrator and a gentleman who made hard work and discipline priority.”

Ajimobi: Sharafadeen Alli urges prayers for all Covid-19 victims

The governorship candidate of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in the 2019 general elections in Oyo State, Oloye Sharafadeen Alli has urged prayers for all the victims of Covid-19.
To this end, Alli who described the late immediate past governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi as a pride of Ibadan land, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole, also called for concerted efforts to halt further spread of the virus.
Alli said Ajimobi was a great achiever who contributed greatly to the development of Ibadan land, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
The former secretary to the state government in a statement he personally signed in Ibadan on Friday said despite their different political ideology, Ajimobi maintained brotherly relationship with all and sundary in Ibadan land.
Alli, who is a former Odu’a investment Chairman noted that the indelible achievements of Ajimobi in the state and beyond would continue to speak for his family.
He prayed that God in His infinite mercies forgive all his wrong doings, while urging the people to use Friday and Sunday services at their private worship centres to pray for an end to the further spread of coronavirus; quick recovery for the sick and forgiveness of sins of all departed ones.

Former Gov. Rashidi Ladoja and Alhaji Sharafadeen Alli, a former Secretary to the State Government have joined in mourning the death of former Gov. Abiola Ajimobi.
The duo in their separate statements made available to newsmen on Friday in Ibadan, described Ajimobi’s death as a great loss to the family, state and Nigeria.
Ladoja in his statement signed by his Media Aide, Alhaji Lanre Latinwo, described the death of the immediate past governor as a great to his family and the entire state.
The Ibadan high Chief said that the late Ajimobi contributed his quota to the development of the state and Nigeria.
“Late Abiola Ajimobi after a successful career at National Oil now Conoil PLC served as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for 4 years before serving as governor of the state for 8 years.” he said.
He expressed condolence to the people of the state and immediate family of late, praying God grant him eternal rest.
Also, Alli in his statement, described the death of the former Gov. Ajimobi as a great loss to the state and Nigeria.

A Tribute to My Leader & Benefactor, late Ajimobi By Teslim Folarin
The death of former Governor Abiola Adeyemi Ajimobi was met with shock and sadness throughout the country.
Senator Ajimobi was my very thoughtful first cousin, political leader and benefactor. I respect my egbon for his extraordinary intelligence and sincerity of purpose. When it comes to saying the truth he didnāt care whose ox was gored.
Ajimobi was truly a distinguished Senator of the federal republic of Nigeria. Between 2003 and 2007, I had a very robust collaboration with him to fight, defend and protect the popular interests of the people of Oyo State in the red chamber. Owing to his immense contributions in the hallowed chamber, the Nigerian Senate will undoubtedly set a day aside to honour our Distinguished late colleague, Senator Ajimobi.
Ajimobiās friends and foes know that he was a powerful strategist with high intelligence and the ability to read situations; a man of quality ideas and quick thinking no matter how complex the situation. Love him or hate him, he was fearless in the face of tough decisions with focus on excellence and best practices.
Senator Ajimobi served Oyo State and Nigeria with dedication, humility and honour, first as a Distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, next as unprecedented two-term Governor of the Pacesetter State and then Deputy National Chairman (South) doubled as Acting National Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The death of His Excellency Ajimobi has robbed the progressive family of its eloquent and exemplary leader. He will be sorely missed by the APC family, the people of Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
Though Ajimobi is no more, his legendary achievements as a public administrator live on. He was undoubtedly and universally acknowledged as the Architect of Modern Oyo State; his Koseleri records in the governance of Oyo State will be very difficult to match.
I salute our fallen leader for his qualitative services to Nigeria and the APC. We will eternally remember Mr. Constituted Authority for his hard work, dedication and commitment.

Ajimobi, What Went Wrong? |Bolaji Tunji
It was just like yesterday. He had received a call to come to Abuja. It was to discuss party matters. He was not sure of who would follow him. Because it was a private flight, he had limited options. He only went with his security aide.
He had told us earlier in our office in his Oluyole home that we would talk about the movement to Abuja since he had become the Deputy National Chairman. Our office had to shift to Abuja.
He was in his usual caftan and cap, always impeccably dressed even at home except when he does his exercise every morning in his blue track down and stripe blue Tee-shirt and branded cap. With his earpiece and phone in hand, he would walk round the building several times to exrcise.
āWe will leave by 2.00pmā, he said that fateful day. A special private flight had been arranged for him.
He radiated good health and we still marvelled that he still looked so good for his 70 years. As he left our wing of the house to the other side, a few of us in our usual manner trailed him. He spoke with a few people in the courtyard before he left to prepare for that trip. I never knew it was going to be the last time I would see him.
But in his usual organised manner, there was no pending issue. He had taken care of everything. He had signed all the letters of appointment for the peace and reconciliation committee.
I still canāt wrap my head round what happened. He was so healthy, he was neat, he took all the necessary precautions even while he sat with us in our open office he was always with his face mask, we always observe social distancing. We were always quick to give him hands sanitizer anytime he touched something. We were conscious of his age and did all we could to ensure safety. We had three spots where you had to wash hands before entering the premises. One at each of the main entrance gates and another by the entrance to our office. We observed all due protocols. So what happened? How did it happen? None of us was sick. So where did this come from? I am still trying to find answers.
He never wanted anything else after the general election. He only wanted to take a long, due rest after serving for 8 years without break. But another position was thrust on him. He never solicited for us and he did not want. But they convinced him to accept. I know because in his usual forthrightness, he narrated how it happened. He took the positions because he felt it would benefit his people. ā I have done my bit. There is nothing I set out to achieve that I did not, I cannot be governor again, but I cannot leave you peopleā, he would say.
But what went wrong? I am at a loss. I was so sure he would get up the sick bed. I was so sure because there were unfinished businesses. There were so many tasks that he had planned ahead to better the lot of the people. So I was convinced he would come to complete those tasks. I never knew it would end this way.
A legend is born with the death of a hero. You will forever remain in my heart, in our heart. I have learnt so much from you. You were a willing teacher. You would deliberately sit with us and tell us about life experiences. The idea was to learn from you. And we learnt. You would have been suprised if we had not learnt. As you were quick to point out, you never had an academic Ph.D, but you had Ph.D in experiences and what life had to teach.
I can go on and on reminiscing about you. About that other side that people never saw. That soft part of you that people never knew existed.
This is cathartic for me because I am still in shock. Am at a loss. Everything within a month.
Did we see this coming? No. Not this. Not that you would go so soon. Were there signs? Yes. From the most unlikeliest of sources. But not like this. Not to deathā¦Though the music stopped, the melody continues. You will forever be remembered.
