Stop Harassing ZLP Candidates, Nwanyanwu Warns Ajimobi

The National Chairman of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, on Tuesday decried what he described as unwarranted harassment of some candidates of the party in Ibadan, Oyo state capital by security agents.

The visibly enraged ZLP chairman who was in Ibadan for the mega rally, laid the blame at the doorstep of the state Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

Nwanyanwu who led members of the party’s National Working Committee and a leader of the party, former Governor Rashidi Ladoja to the rally, said: “I am aware that our candidate here, Otunba Rotimi Ajanaku, who is contesting the Ibadan South-West/North-West federal constituency is being harassed and threatened with arrest. We know why and who is behind it.

“It is not a crime that Ajanaku left the APC for another platform to seek his aspiration. He is a Nigerian who has right to aspire without being harassed.

“Let me use this opportunity to tell Gov. Abiola Ajimobi to stop harassing Ajanaku. We will hold him responsible if anything happens to Ajanaku before, during and after this general election,” he said.

Nwanyanwu called on IGP Mohammed Adamu to live by his promise, while urging him to caution his officers, particularly the CP’s from harassing Nigerians.

“To the IGP, we were all happy on your appointment. I was among the many Nigerians who congratulated you on the appointment. This was because we believe in your capability.

“In your acceptance speech, you promised to return professionalism to the police which make us believe it is not going to be business as usual. We hope you will adhere to this.

“I implore you to ensure that Nigerians enjoy their rights to aspire and vote for candidates of their choice,” he said.

He described the ZLP as a party to beat in the state, saying the party has all it takes to rejig the economy of the state.

Nwanyanwu said that the party had carefully chosen its candidates, saying they are people of proven integrity, sincerity and unquestionable antecedents.

“Before, Oyo state used to be between 1st to 5th position in West African Senior School Certificate Examinations but now roaming around 26th position.

“Also, LAUTECH used to be one of the best universities in the country until recently when this changed. All these are consequences of a bad government in the state. Only ZLP has all it takes to address these problem,” he said.

Earlier, Mr Wole Abisoye, the State Chairman, said the party which was formed a month ago had really grown to become the hope of the electorates in the state.

He described the party as one which makes promises and fulfill them, saying that was evident in the antecedents of their leader, former Gov. Rashidi Ladoja.

“Our leader is a specialist who uses a new and perceived small party to attain victory as well as greater achievements.

“Our governorship candidate is the only one who have undergone political tutelage among his co-contestants, ” he said.

Nwanyanwu presented the party’s flag to all candidates in the state among who are Alhaji Sharafadeen Alli, the governorship candidate, Ajanaku and many others.

The National Chairman of the Zenith Labour Party, Dan Nwanyanwu, former Governors of Ondo and Oyo states, Olusegun Mimiko and Rashidi Ladoja and supporters of the party across the federation will converge on Mapo hall Ibadan for the ‘historic 2019 mega rally’ of the party ahead general elections.

A press statement signed on Monday by the Oyo state Publicity Secretary of the ZLP, Olajide Olanipekun said all arrangements have been concluded to stage the rally in the ancient Mapo ground on Tuesday, beginning from 10am.

Olanipekun, a lawyer said apart from Nwanyanwu, Mimiko and Ladoja, other leaders and party’s National Working Committee members as well as the candidates for various elective offices in 2019 are also being expected.

He said the National Chairman will use the occasion to present flags to the gubernatorial candidates of the ZLP including Oyo state’s flagbearer, Sharafadeen Alli.

Olanipekun urged the party supporters to conduct themselves peacefully to show other political parties on how to organise hitch-free rally devoid of brigandage and hooliganism.

He reechoed the mandate of the ZLP anchored on good governance, equity, Justice and development, just as he listed other party chieftains coming to the rally, to include Chief Segun Odegbami (Ogun state), Yahaya Makama, Segun Jones, ThankGod Enahoro, Hassana El-Abdullahi, Eni Akinsola and Mrs. Onyemekara Chinyere.

Hope Rises for Traders as Akinremi Promises to Empower More People

Traders in Ibadan North will smile to the bank soon as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ibadan North federal constituency, Prince Olaide Musiliu Akinremi, aka Jagaban, said more women and youths would be empowered if he emerges as lawmaker to the House of Representatives in February 16 election.

Explaining that his constituents would enjoy impressive representation, Akinremi, while addressing his supporters across the federal constituency, assured that nothing would stop him when elected.

Akinremi, who added that he has been assisting people through the little has inspired him to be doing though his Prince Akinremi Foundation (PAF), reiterated that he would establish the free vocational/skills acquisition centre, which is presently operating within the premises of PAF, in some other locations so as to make the facility easily accessible to the teeming youths in various residence.

This is just as he noted that through his representation of the constituency at the National Assembly, beneficiaries of other activities of his Foundation, in the areas of payment and disbursement of scholarships and bursaries to students of secondary schools and tertiary institutions, as well as soft credit facilities without repayment to market women and artisans, will be increased considerably, besides his positive contributions to national issues.

While urging people across the state to vote massively for APC come in the February 16th and March 2nd, 2019 general elections, Akinremi described the APC as the only party in the country whose leadership is led by men and women of integrity who are consistent achievers in the areas of the welfare and emancipation of humanity, adding that many of these leaders had addressed the people on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at the Mapo Hall, venue of the party’s Southwest campaign flag off.

Akinremi explained that the large heart and master planning potentials of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is the national leader of the party, is obvious to all including political rivals, and that the consistency in the defense of the rights of citizens by Comrade Adams Oshiomole, the party’s National Chairman, right from his leadership of the national body of Labour, 8 years as Edo state Governor and presently within the ruling APC, is known to all and sundry.

He further stated that “it is obvious that the outgoing Governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who is the party’s candidate for Oyo South Senatorial district, has over the last 7 years laid the foundation of a modern Oyo state, and that Oloye Adebayo Adelabu, the party’s governorship candidate is the best man that can take the state to the next level of improvement in the security of lives and property, education, sound health services, agriculture, solid road development and other infrastructures.”

Akinremi thereafter described critics of the Governor Ajimobi-led APC administration as few prejudiced and retrogressive set of people in the state, who he said are lovers of the kind of political doldrums the previous PDP administration plunged the state into, where all forms of insensitivities-mismanagement and squandering of resources and violence were the order of the day, to the extent that the state House of Assembly became an amusement park for hoodlums.

He, however, said that he was sure that the progressive-minded people of the state are ready to safeguard their future with their votes in support of the APC in the state through in the forthcoming general elections, “for the next level of adequate security in the state, through the Security Trust Fund (STF), renovation of public secondary schools, through Schools Governing Board (SGB), agriculture revolution through Oyo Agric, sound health services through the Health Endowment Scheme, creation of jobs and subsidized transportation for the ‘mekunus,’ through the Ajumose Shuttle, the state-owned transport system, world-class road developments and other infrastructures.”

Alaafin Endorses ZLP Candidate, Sharafadeen Alli

This poser follows a trending video clip which revealed the open endorsement of the candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Oyo state, Chief Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli by the Alaafin, three days ago.
Alaafin who spoke in parables was seen in the video clip when he hosted Alli in his palace, giving reasons why ZLP candidate could be trusted, even when the chips are down.
The permanent Chairman, Oyo state council of Obas and Chiefs, told his visitor: “Sharafa, you know what binds us. You and I know it.”
Turning his face towards the direction of Oyomesis (the kingmakers), Alaafin said, “Oyomesi, I will explain to you. He knows what binds us together. One can be in government and not responsible. He may be lacking in Omoluabi. But Sharafa is a reliable son with quality and all traits of Omoluabi behaviour in his blood.
“Sharafa is many things to me. He loves Alaafin so dearly and exhibited it on many occasions in the past. I have no doubt recommending him to you, the Oyomesis,” Alaafin said in Yoruba language.
Alaafin who narrated a particular incidence of the past and the mediatory roles Alli played, said “I didn’t forget those moments in my life and he might have forgotten what he did, but it was a defining moment for me.
“From that day, Sharafa had received the blessings of the ancestors and it is just starting afresh today because what he is looking for, God will grant him.
“He understands what I am saying, the same way I do. He is a wonderful guy imbued with wisdom,” the monarch added.
Alaafin who offered prayer from Ifa copus for Sharafadeen Alli’s ambition, said “you will excel and succeed in this great task.
Alaafin said he had no regrets with the prayers he offered to Alli from the bottom of his heart, stressing that his past and more importantly, Alli’s love for him when it mattered, made him to do so.
Recalling the gun attack on Alli by suspected and yet-to-be apprehended assailants at the palace of Olubadan in 2018, Alaafin said it was a mystery that the ZLP gubernatorial Candidate escaped death, though by the whiskers.
He queried comments in certain quarters that Alli planned the gun attack, saying only a mad man would cause another person to shoot him, to make political score.
Alaafin told the ZLP entourage to be cautious and engage in issues based campaign and dwell more on what they want to do differently to make life more abundant for the people of the state.
Earlier, Alli had said he was in the palace to pay homage and avail the monarch of his programmes for the people of the state if given the chance as the next Governor of the state.

My Plans for Amuwo-Odofin Constituency, by Alli-Macaulay

The House of Assembly candidate for Amuwo-Odofin constituency 1 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state, Hon. Mojisola Alli-Macaulay has unveiled her agenda for the people of the area if elected on March 2.
Alli-Macaulay, a journalist and former deputy leader of Amuwo-Odofin legislative council who represented Ward B1 in the council area, said women are natural multipliers and good at lobbying.
She therefore solicited the votes of the constituents to enable her deliver on a number of legislative agenda she has in stock for her people.
According to Alli-Macaulay, that there is nothing comparable to being an experienced legislator at the grassroot. Only an experienced grassroot legislator would know where the shoe pinches at the grassroot. I have been part of the business of making by-laws, for the local government, at least for a number of years. So, I was part of the enactment of all the bylaws which means I know most of the problems that affect the local government at that time, which is still pertinent up until this time.
“I am going to focus on the youths of my constituency. I see them as the most vulnerable elements of the society. The women, the children and the elderly, and as you know, that the business of legislation is making law but I will also go extra miles to consolidate on what’s on ground, in terms of lobbying dividends of democracy to the people of Amuwo-Odofin from top government establishments, and try to see how we can make the best of all these opportunities, to enrich and better the lives of our people, Alli-Macaulay said.
Speaking further, Alli-Macaulay said, “I will say that this is a very calculated opportunity that I would not take for granted. I will try my possible best to ensure that I give my all to my constituency. I will try as much as possible to lobby. Women are very good at lobbying. We try to make things happen. We are natural multipliers.
“Women will nurture anything you put into their care with absolute dedication, and you can trust me, that the best is what I will give. I would ensure that whatever gains that the local government or my constituency is enjoying at the moment, I will consolidate on it, I will improve on it, and I will see ways by which we can bring in goodies to all and sundries.
“All the people in my constituency will benefit from my stewardship in the Lagos Assembly and I make bold to say that no voter will regret casting their vote for me. I won’t discriminate against anyone no matter your religion, tribes or gender colouration. I wish to be the best lawmaker ever produced by Amuwo Odofin constituency 1,” the former councillor stressed.

Ladoja Insists Ajimobi’s Govt Lacks Human Face

A former Governor of Oyo state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja on Thursday insisted that the government of Governor Abiola Ajimobi lacked human face.
He said his condemnation of governance without human face was normal in a democracy.
The APC spokesman, Dr. AbdulAzeez Olatunde had on Wednesday said that two former governors of the State, Ladoja and Chief Adebayo Alao Akala were outdated politicians “who are not in tune with the principles of modern principle of governance”.

 

Olatunde had argued that the utterances of the duo in recent times showed that they are far behind in developmental politics.

But the Zenith Labour Party, in a press statement signed by its publicity secretary, Olajide Olanipekun, said the unnecessary outburst of the APC was borne out of frustration and ignorance.
He said ZLP leader, Ladoja, has never condemned Ajimobi personally but “the Government he is leading because of its lack of human face.”
ZLP asked the APC in the state “to keep quiet if the party does not have facts to bring forth in reply to statements credited to High Chief Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja on bad governance that Oyo state is experiencing now.
“ZLP observed that instead of coming up with issue based writeup and campaign, the APC in Oyo state resorted to personality attack on the person of the former governor and the leader of ZLP in the state due to successful launch of ZLP and the wide acceptance of the party that has signalled the end of APC misrule in Oyo State.
“Concerning the issue of allocation of land which APC is crying over, the question here is was there anytime the former governor Ladoja begged for a plot of land from Governor Ajimobi? The answer is capital NO! Even the controversy surrounding the allocation was clearly explained in the past when the matter was brought up by the Ajimobi government then.
“In the real sense, how can anybody equate the issue of one plot of land to performance in office for eight years of Ajimobi administration which was what Senator Ladoja has been talking about.
“Chief Ladoja legitimately applied to buy a plot of land adjoining his property in Bodija which he is ready to pay for, but the bill of payment is yet to be issued to him before Governor Ajimobi and APC went to town about giving him the plot of land free.
“APC should stop insulting the people of the state having forced hardship on them for eight years without any succour.
“What ZLP and her leader stand for is to return good governance to Oyo state where salaries and pensions will be paid promptly before the end of each month; where there will be 30 students per class with motivation for teachers which will move Oyo state education position to unit number instead of 26th position that APC Government relegated Oyo State to and massive employment of the youths as well as infrastructure turn around without hardship to people.
“Criticizing bad governance is hallmark of modern day democracy and should not be equated to personal attack on the actors in the Government, APC needs to learn this,” Olanipekun added.

Oyo APC organizes ‘Next Level’ Dance party Friday

Oyo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will on Friday, February 1, organize a programme tagged APC Youth Connect.

The spokesperson of the Oyo 2019 APC Campaign Organisation, Dr AbdulAzeez Olatunde said that the programme which is also known as ‘Next Level Dance Party’ will be a platform for the youth to interact with APC candidates in the state.

Dr Olatunde said that the programme will hold between 4pm and 10pm at the Agodi Garden, Ibadan, stressing that maximum security is guaranteed.

He noted that the specially designed youth interactive and entertainment programme is to create a relaxed atmosphere for interactions between APC candidates and the youth in the state, stating that only those dressed in a touch of APC colours and branding will be allowed access into the venue.

Dr Olatunde said that there will be many side attractions at the programme, stressing that there are also free gifts for the first 100 guests.

He explained that APC considers the youth as integral stakeholders in the development of the state and the country at large, adding that the APC led government in the state will not relent in its youth oriented programmes.

Ladoja says Alao-Akala was right over Sharafadeen Alli’s Competence, Experience

Former Governor Rashidi Ladoja of Oyo state and National Leader of the Zenith Labour Party on Wednesday said his erstwhile deputy and successor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala was right in describing their Secretary to the State Government, Sharafadeen Alli as “the most experienced to lead the rebirth of the state from May 29, 2019”.
Alao-Akala who was Ladoja’s deputy governor between 2003-2007, said on a Yoruba radio programme last weekend that of all the contenders for Agodi government house, Alli, who served as their SSG, was the most experienced.
Drawing inference from Alao-Akala’s remarks, Ladoja was quoted in a press statement by the party’s PRO, Olajide Olanipekun, saying: “the Zenith Labour Candidate, Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli truly remains the most competent, experienced and outstanding as attested to by Chief Dr. Adebayo Alao-Akala to be entrusted with the governance of the state.”
Alao-Akala is also seeking reelection under the platform of the Action Democratic Party (ADP).
The ZLP leader who addressed jubilant supporters and enthusiasts of the party who trooped out enmasse to meet him during the campaign tour of Ibarapaland comprising Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa East and Ibarapa North Local Governments, appealed to them to vote Alli and all ZLP candidates in the coming elections.
Chief Ladoja accompanied by Alli, ZLP Oyo South Senatorial candidate Chief Aderemi Olajide; Dr. Adebayo Adepoju candidate for Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency; Mr. Bimbo Adepoju candidate for Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency; Biliaminu Okesooto candidate for Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North state Constituency; and Sunday Atunwa candidate for Ibarapa East state Constituency, said ZLP remains the best alternative “to lead the state out of its current state of hopelessness, poverty and deprivation by the ruling class”.
Ladoja told the crowd in Igangan, Ibarapa North Local Government that if they want a purposeful government that will pay salaries and pensions promptly and return the standard of education with free and qualitative education to the state like they experienced during his regime, they should vote ZLP gubernatorial candidate.
He remarked that Alli was a thoroughbred administrator with track records as a former local Government chairman, SSG and Chief of Staff when he was Governor.
Alli who pledged not to let the people down, used the opportunity to highlight his plans for the state workforce, pensioners, and the repositioning of health, education and other infrastructures, to meet the needs of the people across the length and breadth of the state.
He was also quoted as promising support for the farmers, traders and the elderly. Alli also pledged to provide employment for unemployed graduates, with a commitment to the stoppage of demolition of people’s means of livelihood and illegal forceful takeover of people’s landed property under the guise of ‘overriding public interest’.

Alaafin to Makinde: Why I Didn’t Wish You Well in 2015

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III on Tuesday disclosed why he didn’t wish Engr. Seyi Makinde well in the 2015 gubernatorial election.
Makinde was the gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party in the 2015 election. This time, his party picked one of Oba Adeyemi’s sons as the candidate for the House of Representatives in Oyo.
Curiously, the incumbent rep in Atiba/Afijio/Oyo East and Oyo West constituency is Alaafin’s son, Prince, Akeem Adeyemi. He is contesting for third term under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
The Alaafin who tasked Makinde to take his time and relay to the people of the state what changes he wants to make on the lives of the citizens of the state, also recalled what he told Makinde, four years ago.
Welcoming Makinde and PDP campaign team on tour of Oyo to his palace on Tuesday, the Alaafin urged him not to abuse anybody during the ongoing electioneering.
On the fact that he once told Makinde to allow the current governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi complete his second term four years ago, Alaafin said “it’s true that Makinde came to me and I said I want Ajimobi to do second term. I told him don’t worry yourself, I won’t vote for you and won’t pray for you.
“He asked me again and I said I won’t lie to you. Let him serve his eight years. Is that true or not?
If I travel to United States of America, Makinde will call me on phone and express appreciation through gifts. And Makinde was doing that times without number.
“Tell me a politician that does that? With this I am saying, I have not tell anybody in Oyo to either vote for Makinde or not.
“I told him to relax four years ago, apart from that, we have a relationship which is devoid of politics.
“Oyomesi, this man keeps to his words, if he tells Oyomesi that he is coming tomorrow evening, if he cannot make it, he will put a call through that its not possible again, apologise and fix another appointment, he won’t disappoint. It will be good If he can replicate that into politics.”
Makinde who had earlier spoken said he brought special greetings from the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who he said has promised to visit Oyo as president of Nigeria.
He further stated that “our campaign has started again, remembering that you told me something four years ago that where you advised that we go, God is already taking control in that path.
“I want to tell you that Makinde four years ago is now different. We are now matured, focused and engaging as a person and as a party. By the grace of God and your support, the new government will berth in Oyo state. A government that will obey the constitution on traditional rulers.
” I want to assure you that if there is any challenges on that, we will sit round the table with you to proffer solution to it.
“Finally, one of the things being said against me is that no one can call me to order, but I want to tell everyone is that Oba Adeyemi has always be doing that.”

ZLP will Address Mass Failure, Poor Salaries in Oyo, Says Ladoja

Former governor of Oyo State and leader of the Zenith Labour Party, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja on Tuesday said the ZLP will address mass failure by students in public schools and bad salaries to workers in the state.
Ladoja also frowned at an alleged flagrant disobedience of court orders and insensitivity to human feelings of the present administration led by Governor Abiola Ajimobi in the state.
Chief Ladoja made this observation when reacting to an accusation made against the Ajimobi-led government by the traders of Temidire Onipako market in Egbeda local government of the state.
The traders had alleged that despite the ruling of a court in their favour not to be disturbed in their market, the government has refused, claiming to have appealed the case.
Ladoja who was on a campaign tour of the state, said disobedience of court orders is not limited to their case just as inhuman treatment of all cadres of workers has been their trademark.
“Imagine a party that promised workers heaven and earth only to keep on accumulating backlog of salaries running to six, 10 months making the salary worthless at the end of the day as a result of indebtedness. Just last week, workers in state government-owned institutions stormed his office over unpaid salary arrears of between three to 18 months.”
Ladoja asserted that a teacher who for lack of money had to trek a long distance before getting to work will be tired and unhappy, how then do we expect good results from our children?
“You recollect we were in court over Olubadan tussle, a competent court of the state delivered judgement against them,yet,they have no respect for it, they are on appeal, you can now see that disobedience to the rule of law by Ajimobi is not limited to you,”Ladoja stressed.
He therefore assured the traders that the atmosphere is for them to trade legitimately in a ZLP led government in the state.
Chief Ladoja then presented the gubernatorial candidate and his running mate, Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli as well as Prince Kola Olabiyi respectively to the people.
He assured the teeming supporters who trooped out in large numbers that Sharafadeen Alli will lead a good, urbane and humane government that will ensure a rebirth of the state where lives will become more abundant for the masses.
The party leader equally presented the Senatorial candidate for the district, Abiola Olaniyan and the House of Representatives candidate, Mufutau Ogunremi for the February 16 general elections.

Rep Candidate, Akinremi Jagaban Raises Alarm over Threat to His Life

The House of Representatives candidate for Ibadan North Federal constituency in Oyo state, Prince Musiliu Olaide Akinremi (Jagaban) on Saturday raised the alarm over threats to his life from a serving lawmaker in the State House of Assembly.
Akinremi, in a telephone conversation with journalists, pointedly accused a female lawmaker in the house of assembly of being the brain behind his current ordeal.
According to him, “it has been on for a while that some party elders and supporters privy to her clandestine moves to exterminate me or render me vegetative, have been warning me to be very careful of her antics.
“They (party leaders) went as far as telling me that she was in cahoot with a top law enforcement officer in the state to use judiciary to stop my candidature over an unfounded allegation but when that now fails, they resorted to other means of stopping me at all cost which I know God will never grant their wish over my life.
“As a believer that nothing happens without the consent of God, I keep waving it until this weekend when a top official of a Federal Government agency, who was approached if substitution of candidate’s name for National Assembly election in Ibadan North area of Oyo state was still possible (three weeks to the Presidential/National Assembly election) that I now realised that death is truly lurking.
“Unknowingly to the woman in question, the official she approached had had relationship with me for years outside the shore of Nigeria, where I had and still have considerable investments.
“The officer requested the particular constituency she was referring to in Oyo state and out of her folly, sorry desperation, she mentioned my name to him as a Rep candidate for Ibadan North. And the man probed her further and she claimed her name was initially submitted for the seat I am vying for, but changed the last minute in my favour.
“He said became so worried when she insisted that with just 20days, is it still possible to change my name that whatever it will cost, they are ready to make it happen.
“At that stage, I recall one of the elders’ statement that she was working on two possible fronts; to exterminate me or render me vegetative diabolically. And for your information, the said officer reportedly told me “why are you Yorubas so desperate and terrible that you can kill for ephemeral things (positions) that will surely go away with time?
“I wish to make it abundantly clear that I was never in contention with her. Her name was never submitted to the INEC. Records don’t lie. As a successful businessman with track records of service to humanity, I came home to contribute my quota to my fatherland, believing that our people need help to grow their businesses and make Ibadan a better place,” Akinremi added as he claimed all efforts to calm fraying nerves over his emergence was always met with brickwall with the said lawmaker.
Asked if had alerted the police and the department of state security services, Akinremi told the media not to worry, “because we are not sleeping over the matter.”

ONADEP Will Be Resuscitated, Makinde Assures Oke Ogun Indigenes

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Oyo state, Engr Seyi Makinde has assured the people of Oke Ogun area of the state that he will resuscitate the defunct Oyo North Agricultural Development Programme (ONADEP) located in the area to further boost agricultural development in the state.
This, according to Makinde is coming on the heels of his determination to industrialise the region through its rich natural assets deposited in abundance.
Makinde made the declaration while addressing party members and residents of Saki town who came to listen to his manifesto at the rally held in front of Saki town hall.
Earlier, the campaign team had combed the five towns in Saki East; Sepeteri, Ago-Amodu, Oje-Owode, Ogbooro and Agbonle.
Makinde, while speaking on several reasons the people of the town needed to vote for PDP said “we have promised Oke-Ogun people of agricultural industrial revolution. On this I want to state here that if you vote for Seyi Makinde as governor of Oyo state and other candidates of PDP in Oyo state, Oyo North Agricultural Development Programme (ONADEP) will be returned to set the ball rolling for agricultural revolution in Oke-Ogun.”
He added that by so doing, that step would spring economic revival in the region.
He assured them of state government leverage in rendering practical and sincere support to achieve that.
The PDP flagbearer also pledged the people of Saki that the abandoned Saki road project will also be completed by his administration.
On workers salary, Makinde reiterated that the salary arrears owed lecturers and staff of Oke Ogun Polytechnic running into several months will be cleared when he assumes office.
Makinde who reminded the people of his promise to provide potable water for Saki and its environment also used the opportunity to reiterate his commitment to the project.
Party leaders on the trip include, deputy gubernatorial candidate, Rauf Olaniyan, state party chairman, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, Alhaja Bose Adedibu, Senator Ayoola Agboola, Chief Jacob Adetoro and Chief Bayo Lawal,
The team also proceeded to the Bagi’s Palace, where the second-in-command to the Okere of Saki, High Chief Gazali Adegoke hosted them and a topmost political leader in the town, Alhaji Tijani Mosah.
Alhaji Mosah who expressed his support for the PDP, thanked Makinde and his team for the call on him, and assured the team that he will do everything within his might to work for Makinde’s success.
High Chief Gazali urged the PDP campaign team to eschew violence, while wishing them well in the forthcoming elections.

N30, 000 Minimum Wage for Oyo Workers a Done Deal – Lanlehin

The gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Oyo state, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, has assured workers in the state of his readiness to pay N30, 000 as minimum wage.
Lanlehin gave this assurance on Thursday, in Ibadan, the state capital, while interacting with members of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and its sister union, the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
Lanlehin who gave a detailed account of his proposed manifesto, itemised free and qualitative education, from primary to secondary school, and massive investment in tertiary education, establishment of functional and well stocked primary healthcare centres, reintroduction of farm settlements, wealth creation through the use of local contractors and artisans in project execution, sports development, employment generation, and women cum youth empowerment.
“We will run a people centred government, prioritising payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities, and giving our workers, the pride of place,” Lanlehin said.
The interaction afforded the Oyo State ADC governorship candidate the opportunity of answering questions, after his presentation; ranging from his plans for workers, and their welfare, as well as on improving the state’s revenue base.
“When salaries, pensions and gratuities are paid as and when due, the multiplier effect permeates the entire society, and the people are motivated to pay taxes. That way, the state’s revenue base improves.
When government blocks all loopholes, and stops all bogus contracts, Lanlehin added, there is money to improve the lives of our people.
“We will ensure our workers are in charge of revenue collection, as we’ll stop the use of consultants, who repatriate a sizeable portion of whatever they generate.
That way, they’ll know what the state generates, and will be better informed, especially when agitating for improved welfare,” Lanlehin explained.
“We trust with our intended style of openness, probity and accountability, labour will have less struggles to undertake during our regime,” he concluded.
The workers who expressed confidence in Lanlehin’s ability to turnaround the fortunes of the state, implored him to take to heart, all promises made.
On Lanlehin’s entourage was Chief Lowo Obisesan, Hon Wale Murphy, Architect Basiru Lawal, Hon Lanre Agoro and Chief (Mrs) Funmi Arulogun.
Also on Lanlehin’s team was Comrade Alamu Oloyede, a former Oyo State NLC Chairman, who is also an ADC Chieftain.
Oloyede, in his brief remarks appreciated Lanlehin for his integrity, saying he knows that with such a man in position of authority, “Oyo State and its workers were in for good times.”
Oyo State NLC Chairman, Comrade Abdulwaheed Olojede explained that the state labour centres elected to interrogate governorship candidates to ascertain their plans and programmes for workers, their manifesto for the state at large, and in order to participate as responsible members of the society in the political process, urging Lanlehin, and others who have so far participated to always prioritise the welfare of workers in all they do.

PDP’ll Create Wealth, Honour Traditional Rulers – Makinde

The Peoples Democratic party (PDP) candidate in Oyo state, Engr. Seyi Makinde has assured the people of the state that his administration will create wealth to solve major security and economic problems militating against the much-desired development of the 43year-old Pacesetter state.
Makinde also assured traditional rulers that he would accord them their pride of place in his government.
Makinde stated this when the PDP campaign team visited the Afasegbejo of Igbeti, Oba Emmanuel Oyebisi, in his palace on Tuesday.
The campaign team on tour of 10 local governments in Oke-Ogun visited Olorunsogo, Irepo and Orelope local government areas.
Earlier, the team had been guests of the Chief Imam of Igbeti, Alhaji Olayiwola Yusuf at the town’s central mosque.
He said “Four years ago, I visited you soliciting for your votes to become governor of the state, this is God’s time and His time is the best.
” There is nothing I told you four years ago that is not still relevant today and the two vocal things were poverty in the land, after four years, it seems worse.
“The second thing I mentioned is the  entitlement of traditional rulers in Oyo state, which is five percent of the allocation from the local government according to the constitution. The current administration did not do it four years ago and not even ready to do it.
” Today, you have tried the two options, you can attest to situation during PDP administration and when the other party assumed office. Their style is to feed fat first without considering the fate of the masses.
” We are here today to appeal to you to vote PDP government back to power in Oyo state. From our presidential candidate; Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his vice presidential candidate, Peter Obi, our senatorial candidate, house of representatives, myself as gubernatorial candidate and my deputy, Raufu Olaniyan and our candidate for State House of Assembly, kindly support us by convincing your people to vote for us and not sell their votes.
” It is very evident that people want PDP to return back to power, we will be grateful if you can support us to achieve this.”
In his response, Oba Oyebisi wished the PDP train success in their tour, intimating them that the people have their right to vote but urged them to eschew violence during their rally.
He then used the opportunity to request from the gubernatorial candidate if he wins the election to assist Igbeti town overcome some of its problems which include heavy investment in its marble industry, provision of potable water and establishment of a higher institution in the city.
Meanwhile, the deputy  gubernatorial candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oyo state, Mr Raufu Olaniyan has debunked claim of rival political parties; All Progressives Congress (ADC) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) dominance in Oke-Ogun area of the state.
The party’s deputy governor who hails from Igboho said as against the claim by other parties that their stronghold is in the region, the rebranded PDP is now more united and home to the PDP.
He said “it is very glaring for all eyes to see. The camp of PDP continues to swell everyday and that’s a sign of growth in the party.
“PDP of yesterday is not the same as PDP of today in Oke-Ogun. Where is their strength in Oke-Ogun? Here in Irepo, the meeting place of ADC is now being used by PDP because the ADC in that unit are not more than five in numbers. And almost 300 people in PDP camp cannot leave a meeting place for just five people, so they have to leave.
“I can’t see a local government here where ADC has that strength more than PDP.”
On the chance of the party to win March 2 governorship election, Olaniyan added that “every politician that knows his onion knows that PDP is a party to beat. People should not look at PDP as that of old, this is a new PDP.
” God is so kind, our people have tried APC and now they are disappointed. The rate at which people are accepting PDP now is very high,” Olaniyan added.

Ajimobi’s Treatment of Oyo Workers, Unfair, Inhuman – Lanlehin

Oyo State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator Olufemi Lanlehin has decried what he termed the unfair and inhuman treatment of civil servants and retirees in the state by the Oyo State government, maintaining that such deliberate and willful actions, against an important segment of the society, do not bode well for productivity, staff motivation and societal harmony.

Lanlehin, in a press release by Lanre Ogundipe, Director, Media, Publicity and Protocol, Handshake Campaign Organisation (HCO), commenting on the backdrop of the three day warning strike declared by the Oyo State NLC/TUC, and the serial agitations by state owned tertiary institution workers, over months of unpaid salaries, as well as the deluge of debts owed in form of pensions and gratuities, wondered what Gov Abiola Ajimobi was now celebrating by thumping his chest to say “he is fulfilled.” What manner of fulfillment is that, Lanlehin asked?

It is to be recalled that the state workforce, under the aegis of the Public Service Joint Negotiating Council (PSJNC), had embarked on a three-day warning strike last week over what it termed non-implementation of the 2012-2016 promotion approved by the state government. The strike was declared owing to the failure of the state government to give the promotion financial backing since its approval last year. The Labour centers noted that the state government only issued promotion letters to a few workers, and then placed embargo on further issuance of promotion letters.

Lanlehin, berating the Oyo State government for issuing promotion letters to workers without adequate financial backing, and for stopping further promotions, argued that in line with the Oyo State APC led government’s tradition of consistently being against the people, the ruling party does not care if workers, who constitute a formidable constituency in the state, continue to be so treated with contempt. “Treating pensioners with disdain, to the point where the men and women, who had contributed their quota to the development of the state, were now forced to resort to litigation was very unfortunate,” Lanlehin lamented.

“What manner of government wakes up one day, and tells tertiary institutions to be self financing?” Lanlehin queried. Withdrawal of subventions to these institutions, coupled with the non-release of capital grants to them, Lanlehin averred, has all but stifled the institutions, leading to their inability to pay salaries of almost 27 months, in certain instances, and a dearth in physical infrastructure in the affected institutions.

Assuring Oyo State workers, both active and retired, that their own government, represented by the ADC, is almost here, and that by the grace of God, and their support, he is promising them a government which will listen to them, learn from them, and lead by their support, the Oyo State ADC governorship candidate intimated them that, “payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities, would be non-negotiable, and indeed, would be the centerpiece of his administration’s plans and policies,p.”

Lanlehin, added that from consultations with different category of workers in the state, the problems facing workers have been highlighted, and the solutions to be proffered are already known, and would in fact, be implemented once he gets the reins of power. He subsequently urged them to remain committed in carrying out their legitimate duties, promising that “in yet a little while, the good times will return”.
