Rep Candidate, Akinremi Jagaban Raises Alarm over Threat to His Life

The House of Representatives candidate for Ibadan North Federal constituency in Oyo state, Prince Musiliu Olaide Akinremi (Jagaban) on Saturday raised the alarm over threats to his life from a serving lawmaker in the State House of Assembly.
Akinremi, in a telephone conversation with journalists, pointedly accused a female lawmaker in the house of assembly of being the brain behind his current ordeal.
According to him, “it has been on for a while that some party elders and supporters privy to her clandestine moves to exterminate me or render me vegetative, have been warning me to be very careful of her antics.
“They (party leaders) went as far as telling me that she was in cahoot with a top law enforcement officer in the state to use judiciary to stop my candidature over an unfounded allegation but when that now fails, they resorted to other means of stopping me at all cost which I know God will never grant their wish over my life.
“As a believer that nothing happens without the consent of God, I keep waving it until this weekend when a top official of a Federal Government agency, who was approached if substitution of candidate’s name for National Assembly election in Ibadan North area of Oyo state was still possible (three weeks to the Presidential/National Assembly election) that I now realised that death is truly lurking.
“Unknowingly to the woman in question, the official she approached had had relationship with me for years outside the shore of Nigeria, where I had and still have considerable investments.
“The officer requested the particular constituency she was referring to in Oyo state and out of her folly, sorry desperation, she mentioned my name to him as a Rep candidate for Ibadan North. And the man probed her further and she claimed her name was initially submitted for the seat I am vying for, but changed the last minute in my favour.
“He said became so worried when she insisted that with just 20days, is it still possible to change my name that whatever it will cost, they are ready to make it happen.
“At that stage, I recall one of the elders’ statement that she was working on two possible fronts; to exterminate me or render me vegetative diabolically. And for your information, the said officer reportedly told me “why are you Yorubas so desperate and terrible that you can kill for ephemeral things (positions) that will surely go away with time?
“I wish to make it abundantly clear that I was never in contention with her. Her name was never submitted to the INEC. Records don’t lie. As a successful businessman with track records of service to humanity, I came home to contribute my quota to my fatherland, believing that our people need help to grow their businesses and make Ibadan a better place,” Akinremi added as he claimed all efforts to calm fraying nerves over his emergence was always met with brickwall with the said lawmaker.
Asked if had alerted the police and the department of state security services, Akinremi told the media not to worry, “because we are not sleeping over the matter.”

ONADEP Will Be Resuscitated, Makinde Assures Oke Ogun IndigenesĀ

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Oyo state, Engr Seyi Makinde has assured the people of Oke Ogun area of the state that he will resuscitate the defunct Oyo North Agricultural Development Programme (ONADEP) located in the area to further boost agricultural development in the state.
This, according to Makinde is coming on the heels of his determination to industrialise the region through its rich natural assets deposited in abundance.
Makinde made the declaration while addressing party members and residents of Saki town who came to listen to his manifesto at the rally held in front of Saki town hall.
Earlier, the campaign team had combed the five towns in Saki East; Sepeteri, Ago-Amodu, Oje-Owode, Ogbooro and Agbonle.
Makinde, while speaking on several reasons the people of the town needed to vote for PDP said “we have promised Oke-Ogun people of agricultural industrial revolution. On this I want to state here that if you vote for Seyi Makinde as governor of Oyo state and other candidates of PDP in Oyo state,Ā Oyo North Agricultural Development Programme (ONADEP) will be returned to set the ball rolling for agricultural revolution in Oke-Ogun.”
He added that by so doing, that step would spring economic revival in the region.
He assured them of state government leverage in rendering practical and sincere support to achieve that.
The PDP flagbearer also pledged the people of Saki that the abandoned Saki road project will also be completed by his administration.
On workers salary, Makinde reiterated that the salary arrears owed lecturers and staff of Oke Ogun Polytechnic running into several months will be cleared when he assumes office.
Makinde who reminded the people of his promise to provide potable water for Saki and its environment also used the opportunity to reiterate his commitment to the project.
Party leaders on the trip include, deputy gubernatorial candidate, Rauf Olaniyan, state party chairman, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, Alhaja Bose Adedibu, Senator Ayoola Agboola, Chief Jacob Adetoro and Chief Bayo Lawal,
The team alsoĀ proceeded to the Bagiā€™s Palace, where the second-in-command toĀ the Okere of Saki, High Chief GazaliĀ Adegoke hosted them and a topmost political leader in the town, Alhaji Tijani Mosah.
Alhaji Mosah who expressed his support for the PDP, thanked Makinde and his team for the call on him, and assured the team that he will do everything within his might to work for Makinde’s success.
High Chief Gazali urged the PDP campaign team to eschew violence, while wishing them well in the forthcoming elections.

N30, 000 Minimum Wage for Oyo Workers a Done Deal – LanlehinĀ

The gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Oyo state, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, has assured workers in the state of his readiness to pay N30, 000 as minimum wage.
Lanlehin gave this assurance on Thursday, in Ibadan, the state capital, while interacting with members of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and its sister union, the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
Lanlehin who gave a detailed account of his proposed manifesto, itemised free and qualitative education, from primary to secondary school, and massive investment in tertiary education, establishment of functional and well stocked primary healthcare centres, reintroduction of farm settlements, wealth creation through the use of local contractors and artisans in project execution, sports development, employment generation, and women cum youth empowerment.
“We will run a people centred government, prioritising payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities, and giving our workers, the pride of place,” Lanlehin said.
The interaction afforded the Oyo State ADC governorship candidate the opportunity of answering questions, after his presentation; ranging from his plans for workers, and their welfare, as well as on improving the state’s revenue base.
“When salaries, pensions and gratuities are paid as and when due, the multiplier effect permeates the entire society, and the people are motivated to pay taxes. That way, the state’s revenue base improves.
When government blocks all loopholes, and stops all bogus contracts, Lanlehin added, there is money to improve the lives of our people.
“We will ensure our workers are in charge of revenue collection, as we’ll stop the use of consultants, who repatriate a sizeable portion of whatever they generate.
That way, they’ll know what the state generates, and will be better informed, especially when agitating for improved welfare,” Lanlehin explained.
“We trust with our intended style of openness, probity and accountability, labour will have less struggles to undertake during our regime,” he concluded.
The workers who expressed confidence in Lanlehin’s ability to turnaround the fortunes of the state, implored him to take to heart, all promises made.
On Lanlehin’s entourage was Chief Lowo Obisesan, Hon Wale Murphy, Architect Basiru Lawal, Hon Lanre Agoro and Chief (Mrs) Funmi Arulogun.
Also on Lanlehin’s team was Comrade Alamu Oloyede, a former Oyo State NLC Chairman, who is also an ADC Chieftain.
Oloyede, in his brief remarks appreciated Lanlehin for his integrity, saying he knows that with such a man in position of authority, “Oyo State and its workers were in for good times.”
Oyo State NLC Chairman, Comrade Abdulwaheed Olojede explained that the state labour centres elected to interrogate governorship candidates to ascertain their plans and programmes for workers, their manifesto for the state at large, and in order to participate as responsible members of the society in the political process, urging Lanlehin, and others who have so far participated to always prioritise the welfare of workers in all they do.

PDP’ll Create Wealth, Honour Traditional Rulers – MakindeĀ

The Peoples Democratic party (PDP) candidate in Oyo state, Engr. Seyi Makinde has assured the people of the state that his administration will create wealth to solve major security and economic problems militating against the much-desired development of the 43year-old Pacesetter state.
Makinde also assured traditional rulers that he would accord them their pride of place in his government.
Makinde stated this when the PDP campaign team visited the Afasegbejo of Igbeti, Oba Emmanuel Oyebisi, in his palace on Tuesday.
The campaign team on tour of 10 local governments in Oke-Ogun visited Olorunsogo, Irepo and Orelope local government areas.
Earlier, the team had been guests of the Chief Imam of Igbeti, Alhaji Olayiwola Yusuf at the town’s central mosque.
He said “Four years ago, I visited you soliciting for your votes to become governor of the state, this is God’s time and His time is the best.
” There is nothing I told you four years ago that is not still relevant today and the two vocal things were poverty in the land, after four years, it seems worse.
“The second thing I mentioned is theĀ  entitlement of traditional rulers in Oyo state, which is five percent of the allocation from the local government according to the constitution. The current administration did not do it four years ago and not even ready to do it.
” Today, you have tried the two options, you can attest to situation during PDP administration and when the other party assumed office. Their style is to feed fat first without considering the fate of the masses.
” We are here today to appeal to you to vote PDP government back to power in Oyo state. From our presidential candidate; Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his vice presidential candidate, Peter Obi, our senatorial candidate, house of representatives, myself as gubernatorial candidate and my deputy, Raufu Olaniyan and our candidate for State House of Assembly, kindly support us by convincing your people to vote for us and not sell their votes.
” It is very evident that people want PDP to return back to power, we will be grateful if you can support us to achieve this.”
In his response, Oba Oyebisi wished the PDP train success in their tour, intimating them that the people have their right to vote but urged them to eschew violence during their rally.
He then used the opportunity to request from the gubernatorial candidate if he wins the election to assist Igbeti town overcome some of its problems which include heavy investment in its marble industry, provision of potable water and establishment of a higher institution in the city.
Meanwhile, the deputyĀ  gubernatorial candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oyo state, Mr Raufu Olaniyan has debunked claim of rival political parties; All Progressives Congress (ADC) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) dominance in Oke-Ogun area of the state.
The party’s deputy governor who hails from Igboho said as against the claim by other parties that their stronghold is in the region, the rebranded PDP is now more united and home to the PDP.
He said “it is very glaring for all eyes to see. The camp of PDP continues to swell everyday and that’s a sign of growth in the party.
“PDP of yesterday is not the same as PDP of today in Oke-Ogun. Where is their strength in Oke-Ogun? Here in Irepo, the meeting place of ADC is now being used by PDP because the ADC in that unit are not more than five in numbers. And almost 300 people in PDP camp cannot leave a meeting place for just five people, so they have to leave.
“I can’t see a local government here where ADC has that strength more than PDP.”
On the chance of the party to win March 2 governorship election, Olaniyan added that “every politician that knows his onion knows that PDP is a party to beat. People should not look at PDP as that of old, this is a new PDP.
” God is so kind, our people have tried APC and now they are disappointed. The rate at which people are accepting PDP now is very high,” Olaniyan added.

Ajimobi’s Treatment of Oyo Workers, Unfair, Inhuman – Lanlehin

Oyo State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator Olufemi Lanlehin has decried what he termed the unfair and inhuman treatment of civil servants and retirees in the state by the Oyo State government, maintaining that such deliberate and willful actions, against an important segment of the society, do not bode well for productivity, staff motivation and societal harmony.

Lanlehin, in a press release by Lanre Ogundipe, Director, Media, Publicity and Protocol, Handshake Campaign Organisation (HCO), commenting on the backdrop of the three day warning strike declared by the Oyo State NLC/TUC, and the serial agitations by state owned tertiary institution workers, over months of unpaid salaries, as well as the deluge of debts owed in form of pensions and gratuities, wondered what Gov Abiola Ajimobi was now celebrating by thumping his chest to say “he is fulfilled.” What manner of fulfillment is that, Lanlehin asked?

It is to be recalled that the state workforce, under the aegis of the Public Service Joint Negotiating Council (PSJNC), had embarked on a three-day warning strike last week over what it termed non-implementation of the 2012-2016 promotion approved by the state government. The strike was declared owing to the failure of the state government to give the promotion financial backing since its approval last year. The Labour centers noted that the state government only issued promotion letters to a few workers, and then placed embargo on further issuance of promotion letters.

Lanlehin, berating the Oyo State government for issuing promotion letters to workers without adequate financial backing, and for stopping further promotions, argued that in line with the Oyo State APC led government’s tradition of consistently being against the people, the ruling party does not care if workers, who constitute a formidable constituency in the state, continue to be so treated with contempt. “Treating pensioners with disdain, to the point where the men and women, who had contributed their quota to the development of the state, were now forced to resort to litigation was very unfortunate,” Lanlehin lamented.

“What manner of government wakes up one day, and tells tertiary institutions to be self financing?” Lanlehin queried. Withdrawal of subventions to these institutions, coupled with the non-release of capital grants to them, Lanlehin averred, has all but stifled the institutions, leading to their inability to pay salaries of almost 27 months, in certain instances, and a dearth in physical infrastructure in the affected institutions.

Assuring Oyo State workers, both active and retired, that their own government, represented by the ADC, is almost here, and that by the grace of God, and their support, he is promising them a government which will listen to them, learn from them, and lead by their support, the Oyo State ADC governorship candidate intimated them that, “payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities, would be non-negotiable, and indeed, would be the centerpiece of his administration’s plans and policies,p.”

Lanlehin, added that from consultations with different category of workers in the state, the problems facing workers have been highlighted, and the solutions to be proffered are already known, and would in fact, be implemented once he gets the reins of power. He subsequently urged them to remain committed in carrying out their legitimate duties, promising that “in yet a little while, the good times will return”.

Akinremi Welcomes Ajimobi, APC chiefs to Bodija Market Today

The Candidate for the Ibadan North Federal House of Representatives under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Musiliu Olaide Akinremi (Jagaban) welcomes the Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Chairman of the party, Chief Akin Oke and all the leaders of the party in Ibadanland to Bodija international market today, Monday, January 21.

Prince Akinremi in a press statement said all arrangements have been concluded as the Governor and party executives at the state and Ibadan North, officially flag-off the campaign in the constituency at Bodija market by 11am.

Akinremi Jagaban said the occasion which promises to be a mega campaign as Ibadan North local government, Aare Latosa LCDA and Irepodun LCDA are presently agog to host all APC members in Oyo State and beyond to stage campaign for all APC Candidates from President Muhammadu Buhari to Senator Abiola Ajimobi for (Oyo South candidate); Chief Adebayo Adelabu (for Governor); and himself, Prince Musiliu Olaide Akinremi for House of Representatives.

Akinremi also stated that Hon. Saheed Aderonmu and Umar Farouq Arisekola Alao will also be unveiled to the public as candidates contesting for State House of Assembly (Ibadan North Constituency Two) and Ibadan North Constituency One, respectively.

While calling on the party supporters and electorate from Ward 1-12 in Ibadan North Federal Constituency to troop out to welcome the August visitors in the month of January, Prince Akinremi also promised to make the constituency an envy of other constituencies in the state when elected.

He said his foundation, Prince Akinremi Foundation (PAF) located in Yemetu area of Ibadan had provided and still providing free vocational training for teeming youths, disbursed scholarship and bursary awards to students of secondary schools and tertiary institutions, as well as provision of soft credit without repayment to market women and artisans, through the Prince Akinremi Traders Empowerment Scheme (PATES).

Prince Akinremi thereafter assured the people of Ibadan constituency that asides the vibrant and impressive representation that he will render at the Green chamber of the National Assembly when elected, the projects and programmes he already have in stock for the people, will in no time, make the constituency a talk of the town, as well as a role model to others throughout the Pacesetter state, buttressing that his antecedents already speak for him.

CCII Drills Alao-Akala, Adelabu over Ibadan Agenda

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has drilled two gubernatorial candidates in Oyo state, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala of the Action Democratic Party and Chief Adebayo Adelabu of the ruling All Progressives Congress, to make commitments on Ibadan agenda if elected governor on March 2.
The CCII which is the umbrella body of all Ibadan sons and daughters at home and diaspora, had constituted a panel for its platform ‘Meet the Ibadan Electorate’ to know level of preparedness of gubernatorial and senatorial candidates vying in 2019 elections.
The panel set up by the President of the CCII, Chief Yemi Soladoye was led by a retired broadcaster, Alhaji Kola Bolomope with members like a captain of industry, Mr. Abiola Alli; a serving and retired Permanent Secretaries, Dr. Bashir Olanrewaju and Tajudeen Aremu, among others.
The Ibadan agenda aimed at growing the city and the state at large, according to Soladoye, was premised on furthering good governance and getting candidates prepared for the task of making the state capital restore its lost glories as ‘pacesetter in all development index in the country’.
Soladoye added, “we believe that there is direct correlation between the five elements of education, infrastructure, business, revolution, financial empowerment and job creation. To what extent does our next Governor understand this correlation?

“We will like to know what our governor will like to be remembered for after his tenure. The next Governor of Oyo state must have specific Ibadan agenda. Ibadan has 54% of the Oyo state electorate and some 3,000 polling booths.

“How do our politicians see the benefits and challenges embedded in the completion of the Ibadan circular road, the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail system, the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, the dry dock project and the Ibadan Kaduna rail system?,” Soladoye queried.

Akala who reeled out programmes on education, health, infrastructure, empowerment for youths and women and agriculture, also pledged to restore lost glory of the state and rule with the fear of God if given the chance once again, to build on the lofty projects he started few years ago.

Adelabu who recently disengaged from the Central Bank of Nigeria as the Deputy Governor promised to revitalise the state’s economy through financial re-engineering by building on the successes of the outgoing administration.

He laid bare his vision tagged next level to include security, agriculture/food security, housing, social infrastructure (health), education, transportation and environment.

The CCII had in its maiden edition few days ago, hosted a Senatorial candidate of the same party with Akala for Oyo south, Dr. Fola Akinosun, who assured the people of his readiness to actualise the agelong dream of making Ibadan a state.

Guber: I Can Swear on Oath that APC’ll Lose Oyo, Says Alao-Akala

A former governor of Oyo State and gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, has vowed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will lose the March 2 governorship election.

Alao-Akala said he was ready to make sacrifice like other opposition candidates to stop the APC at all cost in the forthcoming election.

Alao-Akala, who spoke on a live interview on Fresh FM radio monitored in Ibadan, said ā€œI can swear on oathā€ that APC would not retain the seat of government, promising that he and other opposition leaders would make the necessary sacrifice to stop the governing party.

The former governor was responding to a question on how the opposition parties split 68 per cent of the votes in 2015, paving the way for Governor Abiola Ajimobi to return as governor with 32 per cent of the total votes cast.

He stressed that there would not be a repeat of the division among opposition parties in the March 2 governorship election in the state, warning that voters would resist any attempt to rig the elections in the state.

The ADP candidate said the opposition parties could boast of better candidates in terms of experience and character, adding that though he would not be able to declare who the next governor would, it would, according to him, not certainly be the APC candidate.

ā€œI will not tell you what we are doing as opposition parties in Oyo State. But I want to tell you that what happened in 2015 when the opposition could not unite against the ruling APC will not repeat itself.

ā€œThat, I can assure you. I can even swear on oath that it will not happen. How we are going to ensure APC does not return, I wonā€™t give you the formula. Leave that to us.

ā€œOne thing I want to tell you is that, by the special grace of God, APC will not rule Oyo State in 2019. Whatever it will take, we will give. We are ready. We are on air, so I wonā€™t want to speak too much. The person that will be governor, we will know. But it is not going to be APC candidate,ā€ he said.

Alao-Akala promised to energise the economy of the state as he did during first coming as governor by engaging local contractors who will retain their profit in the state and consequently discourage capital flight.

He lamented the depth into which the state had sunk in education, health, workersā€™ welfare, promising to declare a state of emergency in the key sector while respecting traditional rulers are given a voice and treated with decency.

Asked to reflect on the events that surrounded his losing the 2011 election, particularly the delay in the release of the result from Ibadan South-West Local Govenrment Area of the state, he sad it was a sad experience that would not be allowed to be repeated.

ā€œThat will never happen again. It was a sad experience. As a matter of fact, anybody trying to rig election in Oyo State will not find it easy. Do you what happened in Turkey when they wanted to seize power there? We saw civilians climbing armoured tanks and daring the soldiers.

ā€œIn 2019, you will see voters climbing armoured tanks if they rig in Oyo State. We are fully ready. I know that the man governing Oyo State now will not like to set the state ablaze. If he wants to do that, we will help him put petrol. Nobody should rig. Let Oyo State people decide who governs them.

ā€œIt is not necessary it should be Alao-Akala. People should decide who governs them and in an attempt to rig, to bring military to harass the people of the state, we will know what to do when the time comes.

ā€œWe are not trying to threaten anybody. Nobody should think we are fools. We will not take it. And I mean it and we are ready. I have been in this game for a long time,ā€ he said.

Makinde Parleys LG Workers, Promises Better Deal

The Peoples Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate in Oyo state, Mr. Seyi Makinde on Friday parleyed local government workers with a promise to offset arrears of their salaries and other entitlements.Ā 

Makinde also pledged to pay workers salary between 27th and 28th of every month, in addition to regular payment of leave bonuses and monies due to the pensioners as and when due.

Makinde while addressing representatives of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Oyo state branch at its headquarters, MKO Abiola road, Ibadan, said having had the privilege of owning a business, he knows where shoe pinches workers.

He said ā€œThis government will not be like that of a ‘Constituted Authority’ but government for all the people. We will ensure that we share knowledge between members of the state executive and other stakeholders, that is the kind of government you should expect from May 29 this year.

ā€œThe current government cannot pay workers salary as at when due and the reason they gave is that there was no money. They claimed that they dedicated the total allocation from Abuja into the payment of salary. But we know it’s not true. Just like four years ago, I came with a message to tackle poverty headlong in our environment.

ā€œAnd four years on, the situation hasn’t changed. The issue of poverty is still very much with us, as a matter of fact, statistics available to us revealed that it has even gone worse. That message is still very germane. When we tackle poverty, we are expanding our economic productive base. Then, we will gradually move away from relying on federal allocation. And from our own estimation, weā€™ll probably get there in about 18 months, but I give you the assurance that in those in 18 months, we will still pay workers salary on the 27thĀ and 28th of every month.ā€

On local government autonomy, Makinde assured that his government will run an efficient and effective local government administration in the state.

ā€œI know there is a bill on local government autonomy. I will support it fully. And what you should expect from a PDP government, it will function the way it supposed to function.

ā€œWe will run a very transparent and accountable government and release whatever that is due to the local government. We won’t award contract on their behalf and perpetrate corruption at the state. I assure you once again, Local Government administration will function effectively and efficiently.ā€

Earlier, Senator Agboola who was a Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for eight years in Oyo state assured NULGE members of a repeat of the feat performed by the party the last time it was in power which has never been met.

The state chairman of NULGE in the state, Comrade Bayo Titilola-Sodo urged the PDP candidate to look into several plights of members of the union if voted into power.

Specifically, he appealed to Makinde to increase the only slot of Permanent Secretary the union has at the state civil service level, to to at least two slots.

2019: Ajimobi Solicits Support for Adelabu, Folarin, Others

Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has handed down a strong warning to leaders of the driversā€™ unions not to allow their members to be used by politicians to cause mayhem as political parties intensify campaigns for the 2019 elections.

He gave the admonition in Egbeda, as he leads the campaign train for the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and other candidates of the party in Egbeda/Ona Ara constituency, on Tuesday.

The governor was addressing leaders of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and rival Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), who also attended the massive rally.

Ajimobi warned that any member of both unions caught causing trouble during the APC or any of the political party’s campaign would be brought to justice.

The governor said, “We are warning the transport unions in Oyo State against infighting or inter-unions imbroglio. I am begging you to please let peace reign. But, if any of you foment trouble after this admonition, you will be suspended immediately.

“Not only that, you will face the full wrath of the constituted authority. Our administration enjoys the people’s support because of the prevailing peace across the state and we will not allow you to truncate it for any reason.

ā€œWe have performed well enough in the almost eight years that we have been in the saddle and we have earned the trust and support of the good people of Oyo State in the coming elections. You are also free to support us, but donā€™t attack anybody.ā€

The governor solicited the support of the people of Egbeda/Ona-Ara constituency for Adelabu as well as the APC Oyo Central Senatorial candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin and other candidates of the party in the 2019 elections.

Ajimobi said he was canvassing for the peopleā€™s votes based on record of unmatched achievements that he had so far recorded, in the areas of urbanization, peace and security, industrialization, healthcare, social welfare, education and job creation.

The governor added that the administration led by him had also revamped the agriculture sector, promoted the welfare of the workforce and had positively impacted the peopleā€™s standard of living.

Ajimobi said, “The APC settled for Adelabu as our gubernatorial candidate because of the sterling qualities we saw in him. This is not to say that other aspirants were not of first class brains like him.

ā€œWe are assuring you that he will not only sustain the good work we have laid a solid foundation for, he will consolidate on them for the good of our people. Iā€™m assuring you that he will not allow a recurrence of the brigandage that we stopped in 2011.

“If our choice will not deliver, he will not get there. But, having consulted widely Iā€™m assuring you that he will deliver on the campaign promises of good governance and accelerated development.

“Apart from the roads and physical projects that we have started and completed, Adelabu will finish ongoing projects when he takes over from me by the grace of God and support of all of you.ā€

The APC State Chairman, Chief Akin Oke, who raised the hands of all the candidates at the occasion, urged the people of the state to vote the partyā€™s candidates during the coming election.

Oke said Oyo State had never had it so good since the days of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, adding that the various people-oriented projects and policies have been introduced since 2011are positively affecting the people of the state.

He said, “We urge our people to continue to believe in our party in Oyo State and Nigeria in general. This is a party that has met the need of the people at an auspicious period in the area of peaceful living and growth in our living standard.

“Ajimobi has done what others could not do. He has achieved immensely in the face of national financial crisis occasioned by drop in the price of oil in the international market.

“This feat will be replicated by the coming governor in the person of Bayo Adelabu. Just keep faith with our party.”

Help, our candidates’ lives are under threat, Zenith Labour seeks police protection

The Oyo state Chapter of Zenith Labour Party on Tuesday raised the alarm that the lives of its candidates vying for seats in the February National Assembly and the March 2 state gubernatorial election are under threat.
The party’s secretary, Bimbo Adepoju and its Oyo south senatorial candidate, Remi Olajide Tuesday morning stormed the state police headquarters at Eleyele to deliver ‘Save Our Soul’ letter to the state police boss, Abiodun Odude.
ZLP in a letter signed by Adepoju who doubles as the party’s House of Representative candidate for Ido and Ibarapa East, said its candidates bill boards and posters were being destroyed at different locations daily.
The party stated, “we wish to report to your office the destruction of our party’s candidate bill boards and posters across Oyo state which is mostly rampant in Ibadan and their environs by our political opponents.
“We want the Commissioner to know that all our candidates’ banners and bill boards belong to advertisement practitioners (APCON) who have duly fulfilled their obligations with the Oyo State Government.
“ZLP as a political party is being confronted with a great task of stopping her aggrieved members from showing their displeasure on the consistent destruction of her candidate properties and threat posed on our members and candidates.
“In the light of the above, the party is highly soliciting for the support of your command in providing adequate security for lives and properties of our members, candidates from now and after the election.
“We assure your command of our members’ interest in the peace of Oyo state but there is limit to their patient if security cannot be guaranteed for their lives and properties,” the ZLP alleged in the petition.

World Bank, CSDA Support Communities’ Growth in Oyo

The World Bank through the Community Project Management Committee (CPMC) in some communities of Oyo state have supported projects ranging from construction of bridges, health centres, classrooms and sinking of boreholes to lift their status and engender quality wellbeing for the people.
The benefitting areas are; Idi-Emi in Sepeteri, Saki East Local Government where the agency provided them with three motorised borehole and two motorised borehole at Isale-Odo Community, Irepodun Local government.
Also, the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) installed 500KVA transformer and extended electricity in Kishi area of the state.
It also completed a community hall, and made available two motorised borehole at Isale-Odo community, Irepodun Local Government, area of the state.

Others are: Bridges at Elegbo Community in Atiba Local Government, Sooro LCDA, Health Center at Surulere Community, Sakilap, Wewe LCDA, a Block of Science Laboratory at Community High School, Oosu, Ayigbiri, transformer and electrification also at Ayigbiri, 2Unit Motorised Borehole and Health Center at Surulere Community, Sakilap, Saki West Local Government, Examination Hall at Baptist Grammar School, Ajawa in Ogo Oluwa Local Government, bridges, installation of transformers, community hall, drainage, construction of roads at Anuoluwapo and Ogbere in Ona Ara local government areas of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

The General Manager of theĀ Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA)Ā Mr. Adewole Babatunde who led some select group of journalists to the spot of the projectsĀ implemented by the communities through the support of the Agency of the Oyo State Government, CSDA with the world Bank assisted fund across the state described the intervention as timely for the people of the affected areas.

Babatunde said many communities across the state have benefited from the gesture and the agency wish to do more for development of the rural communities in the state. He explained that usually, the communities set up a committee called CSDP, Ā headed by an elder in the community and appoints chairman, secretary and treasurer to oversee the project.
“What we does was to provide financial support for the communities. We asked them to provide 10 percent of the overall cost of the project and we raised the balance to fund the it. It is a counterpart funding by the Oyo state government and the World Bank to bring development to those rural communities.”
ChairmenĀ CPMC in various communities commended the state governments and the world bank for their supports in ensuring that development is spinning up in the rural communities.
The Secretary of CPMC in Sepeteri area of the state, Ā Nofisat Adebola said “Before this project was put in place, our people used to fetch water from a river called Akindi. The steam was contaminated because it is the same place our people dump refuse and defecate to, but since the intervention of CSDP, our problem has been resolved.
“The water project has resolved the issue of diseases contacted by the people through the conterminated water they were consuming but now, our people are now living a healthy life,” she said.
Another resident, Ā Mr. Kehinde Ojerinu, said “we suffered water a lot in this community, the water we consumed before CSDP come to our aids was full of germs due to the dirty and refuse our people dump to the stream. We now have quality water supply at our door step through the intervention of CSDP.
Also, another resident, Ā Mr. Tajudeen Ogummodede, Chairman Kajola Community in Idi-Emi, Sepeteri, Saki East local government area of the state said: “over 30 houses have been benefiting from this water project and our people are very happy to have this project in their midst because it has alleviated their suffering.”
To pastor Lawrence Bamgbopa, Chairman Saki-lap CPMC, the gesture was commendable. He said “we conveyed a meeting and we resolved that we need adequate Health Centre. Initially, we requested for three project which was an health center, electric poles and a motorised borehole, all these projects is amounting N10.2million which we only contributed N200,000 being the 10 percent of the total amount.
“We have a problem of an health center, the one we are using before was not adequate enough, and it’s location is very far and that is why the community requested for another one.
“We rented an apartment which serve as our health center before, and there is no enough space to admit patient because the place is not convenient compare to here.
“Our people have benefited immensely from these projects. Those who used to work along distance to receive treatment don’t go anymore before the health center is now close to them.
“As community, we contributed certain amount of money when ever we have a meeting for the maintainance and to repair these project when ever the needs arises.”

Akinremi, APC Rep candidate urges all to sustain lessons at Yuletide

The candidate of the Federal House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan North of Oyo state, Prince Musiliu Olaide Akinremi has urged all Nigerians to sustain lessons leanrt during the Yuletide through the year 2019.
In a special congratulatory message personally signed by Akinremi to felicitate all the citizens especially people of wards 1 to 12 in Ibadan North on Friday, the APC Rep candidate said the spirit of giving to the needy and less privileged in the society should be sustained by all and sundry for the world to be a better place to live.
He said caring and sharing as preached by Jesus Christ during Christmas if imbibed by all, would signpost a better society and make everyone to be his/her brother’s keeper.
According to Akinremi, “the Christmas and New year celebrations have come and gone. We thank God for the rare grace of being alive to witness the dawn of 2019. The lessons therein must be sustained for our country to be safer and peaceful for all of us.
“As a Democrat and Rep’s candidate in Ibadan North under the banner of our great party, APC, I wish to appeal to the electorate in Ibadan North to support my ambition in February 16th election. With my experience as an homegrown true-born of Ibadan (shon of the soil) and coupled with my international exposure, I know where shoe pinches our people and I will be a better Representative because my antecedents speak volume.

Oyo Pensioners to Receive Monthly Pay Same Time With Those in Active Service, Says Alli

The gubernatorial candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Oyo state, Chief Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has lamented that many retirees from Oyo state are dying before receiving their gratuities because of the government’s alleged indifference to their plight.
Alli at a media parley on Friday in Ibadan also alleged that those expected to receive their monthly pensions were also being deprived of it, due to the insensitivity of those running the affairs of governance.
He explained that his party would soon make public, the statistics of people waiting to receive their gratuities but died along the line, because of their inability to purchase needed drugs for their health challenges.
Alli said the ZLP would sign a pact with labour leaders; their members and the pensioners, to rebuild their confidence ‘that hope is in the horizon for them from May, 2019 through a God-fearing administration under the Zenith Labour Party.
On the education sector, Alli, a former Secretary to the State Government lamented the rating of the state in public examinations especially West African Examinations Council (WAEC), recalling that under his boss, former Governor Rashidi Ladoja, Oyo state was occupying second or third positions between 2003-2007.
Similarly, he decried what befell Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso which was rated as the best state-run university in Nigeria and later, the fifth best institution in the country when the Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC) rated all institutions; Federal and states-owned during Ladoja’s administration.
Promising to revamp the health sector by repositing the primary health care centres to provide succour to the people across the 351wards of the state, Alli also said “our administration will take-off on three major areas of Education, Health and Agriculture” to restore their lost glories.
“After those major areas, we will move to the rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads especially in less cities and rural areas across Oyo state to ensure that agricultural products get to the city on time. We plan to generate massive employment for our youths and equip our women with vocational tools and seed monies for their businesses to thrive,” Alli promised.
On why he and Ladoja have been changing political parties, Alli said they were after good governance and abundant lives for the people of the state.
Said he, “Senator Ladoja has been saying it on both the electronic and print media interviews that he was after good governance. That’s basically the point and with the ZLP, the people of the state can now heave a sigh of relief. Their taps will run again. We will reintroduce 30pupils per class policy. Civil servants and the entire workforce will no longer be victimised. Retirees will get their gratuities as and when due and their monthly pensions will be paid same time with those in active service to grow our economy and make life better for the masses.
“We will run a people-oriented government and bring back our investments in the area of asphalt plant for quality roads; tractor assembly plants for agriculture. We are after a total rebirth of Oyo state and our institutions will work again. We have taken stocks and by the grace of God, we will not let the masses down. We are fully prepared for the task ahead, so help us God”, Alli added.

Lanlehin Welcomes 3,000 Decampees in Ogbomoso, Vow to RestoreĀ LAUTECH’s Glory

The gubernatorial candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo state, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin on Saturday welcomed decampees numbering about 3, 000 opposition members into the party in Ogbomosoland as he continued drive towards winning the 2019 race in the state.

Lanlehin during the campaign rally promised to revamp and restore the lost glory of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.

The Institution has been faced with financial and administrative challenges for the past seven and half years of the Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.

A release by Mr. Akeem Olatunji, the Director of Public Communication, New Media and Tertiary Institutions for Senator Olufemi Lanlehin Campaign Organization (SOLANCO) said the decampees were from the APC; the Peoples Democratic Party, Action Democratic Party and the Zenith Labour Party.

Olatunji said Lanlehin at a meeting with LAUTECH academic community stakeholders, frowned at the manner at which money spinning ventures like LAUTECH farm, LAUTECH Distance Learning Program, Pre-Degree Program and other initiatives designed to boost LAUTECH internally generated revenue were frustrated in a way that the once best state owned university has now becomes a shadow of itself.

While welcoming over 3000 defectors, he said Lanlehin admonished the people of Ogbomoso to vote enmass for the ADC, the only political party with human face that is poised to bring succour to the people of Oyo state.

He maintained that “the people of the state have been facing unnecessary hardship and suffering under the harsh and wicked government of the APC.

“The rally attracted party faithful and members of the public who came in large numbers to listen to the manifestoes of the ADC and its flag bearer, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin in 2019 governorship election,” Olatunji added.
