Ojoge-Daniel: Help, Sunday Igboho is After My Life, Untouchable for Police .It is not true -Igboho

A law firm, Lex Habitatio has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police over alleged police inability to bring to book, nefarious activities of an Ibadan-based ‘businessman’, Mr. Sunday Adeyemo (a.k.a. Igboho).
The firm in a letter signed by its senior counsel, Olamide Ayoola Omileye, acting on bahalf of DAMJAY Group of companies represented by Mr. Olawale Ojoge-Daniel, a complainant in the matter alleged as follows:-
“On the 28th November, 2018, a petition was written on behalf if our client to zone XI, Osogbo concerning alleged atrocities of Sunday Igboho in a landed property situated on Alao-Akaka way in Ibadan.
“Thereafter, our client’s petition was to have been allegedly frustrated by one ACP Shogunle in charge of Public Complaint Bureau, who allegedly made a call to Zone XI in order to rubbish and trivialize serious allegations of attempted murder and occasioning harm levied against Mr. Sunday Adeyemo (a.k.a. Sunday Igboho).
“Our major concerns are that until this moment, we have not received any reply to the last petition also emanating from the office of Barrister James Onyiorofe.
“Since ACP Sogunle allegedly put a call to Zone XI, our clients matter have been put on hold.
“Is Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a. Sunday Igboho above the law? Is this steps by the police not tantamount to endorsement of alleged crime by the police and encouragement of thuggery and hooliganism?
“Is zone XI too small to investigate a case of this nature? Why should a matter that occurred in the South West of Nigeria be taken to Abuja without allowing Zone XI to complete the investigation in part and then what is the essence of creating zonal commands?”
Reacting, Mr. Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) described the petition and the press conference addressed by Ojoge-Daniel as an attempt to give dog a bad name in order to hang it.
Mr. Sunday Igboho described all allegations raised in the petition as unfounded, declaring that the landed property in question was owned by him having bought it from the owner and fulfilled all financial requirements on the said property.
On the allegations that he was untouchable, he said there was no truth in it because “as a law abiding citizen and prominent businessman in Ibadan, I have nothing to hide from the police. The police are men who have respect for the rule of the law and would not dabble into the matter that was already before the court of law.’
Efforts to speak with the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude as at the time of filing this report was abortive.
Meanwhile, Ojoge-Daniel, the Public Relations Officer of
DAMJAY Group of companies had at a press conference on Tuesday alleged that Sunday Adeyemo Igboho was after his life, while decrying the passiveness and weakness of the police in upholding its civil duty of ensuring law and order over the activity of thugs on the company’s rightful property located at Akala road.
Ojoge-Daniel claimed that the company was aggrieved over a property it purchased in May 2018 as Sunday Igbhoho has made it difficult for the company to proceed with construction on the landed property.
According to Ojoge-Daniel, Igboho who has no relevant document claims to own the property has been ordering his thugs to ensure that no progress was made in constructing the filing station on the disputed land.
Ojoge-Daniel alleged that “the company’s workers have been facing serious “confrontations from Sunday Adeyemo Igboho’s thugs. The workers have their instruments seized and suffered physical assaults.”
He explained that his company carried out proper investigations before purchasing the property to ensure a legal ground to which it has the necessary documents which affirms its right and full ownership of the property.
Ojoge-Daniel said attempts to arrest Igboho has been futile as the latter has proven to be above the law while the police treats him with much reverence and becomes frightened at the sight of his thugs.
He alleged further: “He has been beating our workers. Eight policemen were deployed to the site and thugs beat them up.
“The Area command sent about 50 policemen, mobilized about 12 patrol vans, fully packed. Igboho just made a call to the CP, when he got to the scene, his boys started beating everybody. The police bolted away. He humiliated the police,” Ojoge-Daniel alleged further.
Ojoge-Daniel however confirned that Sunday Adeyemo Igboho paid N19million on the said property but didn’t complete payment before DAMJAY Group of companies
made full payment and attempts were made by the former owner to return Igboho’s part payment which he refused.

Rotimi Ajanaku Promises 50, 000 Pupils Instructional Materials

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and loyalist of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state has officially declared for the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Ibadan South West and Ibadan North West federal constituency.
Ajanaku said the decision to quit APC was due to injustice meted to him during the recent party primaries.
Ajanaku an entrepreneur vied for the Reps ticket against the current lawmaker, Saheed Fijabi a member of the APC, contesting for the third time.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday in Ibadan, Ajanaku said  ” It is on record that I attempted  clinching  the ticket for the House of Representatives , Ibadan North West/South West Federal Constituency twice  2011 and 2015. This year, I also vied for the ticket, but the incumbent member, Saheed  Fijabi was illegally declared winner in a controversial circumstance.”
He alleged that  “Twenty one (21) votes were added in favour of Fijabi by Mr Demola Seriki led electoral committee that supervised  the primary election held on October 4, 2018 at Lekan Salami stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.”
” In spite of my petition backed up with ample video evidences of the robbery, the powers that be  influenced  the Appeal panel’s judgement. The panel was compelled  to succumb to the intense pressure from the clique to disregard my appeal”
While declaring to contest under the ZLP, Ajanaku said , “Although it is a painful decision that needs to be taken, judging by my investment in the progrrssives  since the days of Alliance for Democracy(AD). Hoewever  i must save my political career from extinction. As an accomplished  entrepreneur, my livelihood is not  attached to politics, but i must consider the plight of my loyalists who have at different times put their lives on the line for my political pursuit. They should not labour in vain.”
He said Zenith Labour party became his last resort because of its leader and former Governor of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja who he described as the a political titan in Ibadan, Oyo state and Nigeria as a whole.
Speaking on his plans for the constituency, Ajanaku said he has been supporting people through his foundation and promised to continue his support for education, health and other developmental projects in his constituency
He maintained that ” As from 2019, I will be paying WAEC, NECO, and JAMB fees for secondary school students and also provide exercise books and instructional materials for about 50, 000 pupils in the constituency.

Party Chair Kelani Sues Okorocha’s-Inlaw over Nomination

The National Chairman of the Action Alliance (AA), Dr. Tunde Anifowose-Kelani on Friday challenged the controversial candidate of the party in Imo State and son in-law of Governor Rochas Okorocha, Mr. Uche Nwosu over his nomination as the governorship candidate of the party in the forthcoming election in the state.
In the suit no: FHC/ABJ/1555/2018, Kelani named Action Alliance as first, second and third defendants respectively and sought different prayers to quash Nwosu’s nomination.
Aside Nwosu, others joined as defendants are: the office of the Chief of Staff, Imo State and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Kelani in the case filed at a Federal High Court in Abuja, argued that Nwosu was never a member of the party and therefore cannot be allowed to fly the ticket of the party in 2019.
Kelani who spoke with newsmen in Abuja on Saturday said among his prayers was that the purported nomination and submission of the name of Nwosu who is not a member of first defendant as a gubernatorial candidate of the party in 2019 in Imo state, cannot stand.
It would be recalled that Kelani, recently advised Nwosu to do the needful, if he really wanted to contest on the platform of the party.
He further declared that the party has rules and regulations guiding its operation, adding that in order to become a registered member, there are due process such person must follow.
Kelani noted that instead of Uche to do the needful, he turned his deaf ears to the advise, thereby the party had to approach a competent court of law with jurisdiction to ensure legal process.

2019: Adelabu, Makinde, Ayorinde Lock Down Ibadan as Guber Campaign Begins

THREE gubernatorial candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Mr. Bayo Adelabu, Seyi Makinde and Chief Bolaji Ayorinde, SAN respectively on Friday locked down the city of Ibadan, Oyo state as the gubernatorial campaign for the 2019 took off in the 42year-old Pacesetter state.

The state Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi supported by the state party executives officially showcased Adelabu to the public at an event tagged official presentation of Oyo APC candidates and symbolic presentation of party flag to the gubernatorial candidate, held at the State Party Secretariat, Oke Ado.

Ajimobi used the occasion to dispel the rumour that Adelabu was imposed on him, just as he boasted that all the APC candidates would win the 2019 elections.

At Makinde’s unveiling of the PDP running mate, Alhaji Rauf Olaniyan, held at the Premier Hotel, Ibadan, three former Ministers; Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, Mrs. Jumoke Akinjide and Elder Wole Oyelese including a Board of Trustees member, Dr. Saka Balogun, Senator Robert Koleoso and Alhaja Bose Adedibu spoke one after the other and expressed confidence that the PDP would take over power from the ruling APC in 2019.

Makinde said electorate are eagerly waiting for the PDP to bring back era of prosperity and abundant life for the masses through reinvigorated agricultural policy, social welfare for the youth, the elderly and vulnerable and more importantly, homegrown economic policies to make the state self-sufficient and vibrant to guarantee enough allocation locally as against ‘the current cap in hand to Abuja for federal allocation and bail out funds”.

Also, the State Chairman of the SDP, Chief Niyi Ajewole at the media briefing held at the state party Secretariat, Yemetu Ibadan, said the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Chief Ayorinde remained the candidate to beat in 2019, saying the purported adoption of PDP candidate by the SDP was “a fraud taken too far by some disgruntled elements in the party”.

Ajewole flanked by Ayorinde and other local government executives, said, “the national headquarters of the SDP made it abundantly clear that the party is not joining any coalition but forging ahead to contest and win the forthcoming general election. Our candidate is a reputable legal practitioner. He stands out and above any other candidate being paraded by any other political party in Oyo state”.

Ajimobi Installed as Oyo SWAN Grand Patron

The Comrade Niyi Alebiosu-led Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Oyo State Chapter on Thursday scored another first as it installed the state Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi as its grand patron.

 The governor was decorated by the State SWAN Chairman, Alebiosu  alongside other executives and  members of the association during a well attended event held at Lekan Salami Sports Complex.

Several other events were held at the same venue to commemorate the governor’s 69th birthday celebration.

Among those events were the final match of Oyo State Governor’s Cup as well as a novelty match between the State Executive Council and Oyo State House of Assembly.

Alebiosu, a Nigerian Tribune editorial staff, said the investiture of the governor was to appreciate his contributions to sports development in the state.

He said the governor has been very supportive to Shooting Stars Sport Club (3SC) and Crown Football Club of Ogbomoso both owned by the state government as well  Russia 2018 World Cup viewing centre set up by the governor

The SWAN Chairman also appreciated him for supporting the state contingent to the ongoing National Sports Festival in Abuja, where the contingents had secured several medals.

Meanwhile, players and management of 3SC also appreciated and honoured the governor for his unflinching support to the team.

Meanwhile the Brightsville College defeated Muslim Grammar School 5-4 in a penalty shoot out to emerge the 2018 winners of the governor’s cup.

Also, the State Executive Council team defeated Oyo State Assembly team 1-0 in a very exciting novelty match that saw the deputy governor as the goal keeper of the state executive team.

Ajimobi in his remark, said the series of activities to commemorate his 69th birthday would foster mutual understanding, love and peace.

The governor who expressed appreciation said that the better side would always emerge in competition be it sports or politics.

“For the past eight years, we have remained committed to peace and mutual relationship in the state. As you can see, our executives and lawmakers have exhibited so much love. 

“Peace and security have been the major hallmark of our administration and we would is one thing we stood for and we will continue to guarantee this,” he said.
He promised to continue to support sports development in the state, appreciating all for the honour bestowed on him.

Hundreds of residents who had earlier staged a walk round the metropolis in honour of the governor had thronged the stadium to commemorate with the governor.

The fun-filled event was attended by several prominent citizens of the state as well as party stalwarts.

2019: Anglican Church Decries State of the Nation, Calls for Revolution

The Bishop of Ibadan Diocese, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Revd Joseph Akinfenwa has decried the state of the nation and sought God’s face to cleanse the land.
Bishop Akinfenwa who described the current situation in the land with many people suffering in the midst of plenty, said the situation today in Nigeria was not only ridiculous but equally disappointing.
He then urged Nigerians to pray for a messiah in the 2019 general elections.
Bishop Akinfenwa who spoke to journalists after the international ordination service and licensing of Lay Readers at the All Souls’ Church Bodija Ibadan said, “Nigerians are disappointed. I am disappointed. This nation is recycling leaders. Those who are in particular group metamorphosed into another group and are telling us the same stories.
“All we need as Nigerians is to pray to God to give us security in the land and in 2019 elections and to make His judgement to bear because all the money they are using now to campaign, is it not our stolen money that they are using to bribe people to vote for them? We need to pray to God to bring down judgment.
“It is an injustice and a daylight robbery. And all we have to do is to pray for a messiah. We need a revolution. God should revolutionise this land. We are tired of the same people doing same thing all the time. God should send us a messiah that will safe us as a nation. It doesn’t matter the personality or a particular political party,” Akinfenwa added.
On the newly ordained ministers of God, the Bishop charged them to abide by the oath to serve God faithfully and diligently.
Akinfenwa reminded them that it wasn’t possible to make money in Anglican church, adding that “they are to go out and preach the gospel to the world. They must be obedient; make sacrifice, spend their personal money and be prepared to serve anywhere even in the rural areas where their services are most needed.
“If possible, they should be ready to die in the cause of service to the Lord because Jesus Christ promised us eternity. One of the hymns rendered earlier talked about dying for God’s sake and make heaven. They must preach holiness at all times. In doing that many souls will be won for the kingdom of God. They must also lead by example so that the congregation can follow,” Akinfenwa stressed.
The Bishop had earlier told the congregation that the new ministers, majority of who are Nigerians with three from the Chad mission, said they had been found to be living a godly life and were of sound learning.
Among the new ministers are Adebobola Adeleye; Ademola Adeniyi; Olakunle Kiyesi; Abiodun Lasebikan; Albert Olaniyi; Chianu Osadebe, Djepeule Mbaiondoun; Maba Nadjibeye, Nonyerem Udumaga; Olufemi Ogundimu, Kolapo Olayiwola and Ibukun Olarinmoye.

2019: Akinremi, APC Ibadan North Rep Candidate Gets Traders’ Support

Traders in Oje market and suburbs in Ibadan North Local Government have vowed to vote enmasse for the House of Representative candidate in the constituency under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Olaide Musiliu Akinremi in 2019.

A chieftain of the APC in Ibadan North, Alhaji Ismail Ashipa recently tweeted on social media that electorate can no longer be taken for a ride as they have learnt that many politicians campaigning these days are trying to deceive them for another four years without any meaningful impact to make on the suffering masses.

Ashipa said, “in Ibadan North Local Council area for example, especially Oje axis, many traders and shop owners, seeing me wearing APC fez cap, won’t hesitate to remind me constantly that ” Oloye Ashipa, eyan dada ni yin o (you are a likeable person) but we will only vote for Prince Musiliu Akinremi and Umar Faruk Alao Arisekola; and no more.”

Ashipa’s tweet was corroborated on Thursday as a leading Islamic cleric in Ibadan North Local Government, Alfa Sulaiman Aduragbemi commended Akinremi (a.k.a. Jagaban) for establishing vocational centre in Yemetu Ibadan.

Aduragbemi in a chat with journalists said Prince Akinremi had through the centre and monthly allowance for a number of indigent students and payment of their annual school fees in institutions of higher learning, shown that “he is a man imbued with milk of human kindness.’

The cleric promised to rally the support of other Alfas, Imams and indeed great people in Ibadan North from across all the 12 wards in ensuring that Akinremi wins the February 16th, 2019 election into the Federal House of Representatives.

He said the candidate “is a self-made man who has been using his hard-earn wealth to touch people’s lives positively by providing vocational tools and lifeline for graduates of his “Prince Musiliu Olaide Akinremi Vocational Centre” in Yemetu area of Ibadan.

The cleric hinted that Prince Akinremi’s legendary support before aspiring to contest in the next election was remarkable because “for two years that I have been hearing of him, he has remained a pillar of support to many in Ibadan North, Ibadanland and Oyo state in general as his philanthropic gestures to the haves and have-nots in the society is second to none, especially among other candidates contesting against him in Ibadan North.

 

Adebayo Makes Case for Creative Economy at AMFEST Expo

The Director, KAM Africa, Mr. Kayode Adebayo has stressed the need to develop a creative economy in Nigeria through arts and music.

Adebayo disclosed this at the grand finale of African Music Festival, Culture and Arts Exposition (AMFEST EXPO) regional creativity business summit in Ibadan on Tuesday.

Adebayo, who is also the Project Director AMFEST EXPO said “no industry has the potential to engage the large population of the youths we have in Nigeria and Africa like the creative industry.

“Without it we will never enjoy peace in Africa; this young peoples’ energy must be channelled properly into economic activities that will develop them and their communities.

“We will be perfecting all the statistics, analytics, data and recommendations from the 4 months business summit. We will be submitting it officially to the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission, a commission responsible for policies and developmental initiatives for the Governors of the six south western states of Nigeria.

“We hope this will become a road map towards turning this region into a creative & economic power house in the African continent; a booming tourist industry can emerge from this, attracting investment and foreign exchange,” Adebayo said.

Dr Kolade Mosuro, Chief Executive Officer The Booksellers, while speaking on the topic  ‘A Possible Economy Built from Our Culture, in South Western Nigeria’ said “our uniqueness is what sparks curiosity among other nationals and it is what will make them want to give us their hard earned money to partake in who we are.”

He also emphasized the need to be creative in packaging Africa’s content to make it worthy of commercial exchange as well as harnessing the youth energy in Nigeria into positive commercial activities.

Mr Ayo Alex Alao, the founder of TeachMe.ng and HowAfrica.com in his keynote speech highlighted various ways African content can sell and how culture as well as arts can significantly boost the nation’s economy.

“By embracing our essence as Nigerians and Africans without shame, with pride; only then can the world at large be curious enough to want to partake in what we have, then we can build wealth from their curiosity,” Alao said.

‘Yoruba Youths to Police: Having Sex in a Car?

Following the Nigeria Police statement that it is not a crime to have sex in one’s car, the Yoruba Youth Socio-cultural Association (YYSA) has said the police might be right ‘but doing so is against the norm.’

The police had on Tuesday said it could be considered a crime if one has sex with an underage; the car is parked in a religious institution when the act takes place, or both persons engaged in the sexual activities are of the same gender.

The Head, Police Public Complaints, Rapid Response Unit, Abayomi Shogunle had tweeted thus: “No. Sex in a car in a public place is not a crime in Nigeria provided the location is not a place of worship… If threatened with an arrest over the above, please report to the police.”

However, a press statement on Wednesday by the Secretary of the Yoruba youths, Olawale Ajao would not agree with the police position.

Ajao said, “in Africa, what distinguished us from people from other continents is our extremely rich cultural value.

“Mannerism in terms of value of secrecy; carrying out sexual activities without exposing yourselves to underaged children and general public.

“Permitting adults to be having sex in a car or public places will never do our society any good but harm.

“First, we must consider the little children that may be passing by when such sexual intercourse is going on.

“Second, Nigerians are so abusive when given that kind of privilege. It could be bastardized and every nook and cranny may later turn to sex joints,” he added.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Rejects Anozie as Oyo Ezeigbo

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation,  Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has called on Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, security agencies and the general public, not to accord Chief Alex Anozie, the  position of Ezeigbo of Ibadan and Oyo State. 
The organisation made the call in a letter addressed to the governor dated December 3, and copied the Olubadan of Ibadanland, the state Commissioner of Police,  the state Director of State Security Service (SSS),  the GOC, 2  Division, Nigeria Army, among others.
In the letter titled “Affirmation of a new executive of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Oyo State branch” signed by the Secretary-General of the organisation, Barrister Uche Okwukwu, and made available to journalists in Ibadan, the apex Igbo body, said it took the decision at its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Enugu.
According to the organisation, it is displeased with what it described as the purported claim and misrepresentation by Anozie as the head of the Igbos in Oyo State, stating that it only recognized the executive of the state branch of Ohanaeze Ndigbo led by Engr. Ndubuisi Okorie.
It stated further that Anozie frustrated all efforts made in the past by the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide to ensure that Ndigbo in Oyo State live in harmony and unity, urging him to return all the properties of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in his possession including but not limited to a hiace bus with him.

31years After, Agbekoya is Searching for Awolowo Replacement

Thirty-one years after the death of the late sage and foremost Yoruba leader, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Nigeria’s frontline farmers group and the first human rights organization in Nigeria, Agbekoya Farmers Association said it is currently searching for his replacement.

A press statement made available to the Pacesetter News by the National Publicity Secretary of Agbekoya, Chief Bandele Olatunji said the Yoruba people are still missing their leader till date.

He said the group would be celebrating its 80years Anniversary of its existence as the first farmer’s group in Nigeria.

Olatunji also stated that the Agbekoya has thrown its weight behind the statement made by the Ooni of Ife, Oonirisa Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, recently that the Yoruba’s are still searching for Awolowo’s replacement as the leader of Yoruba people.

He said the President General of Agbekoya (Worldwide), Chief Kamoru Okikiola re-echoed the statement that the Yoruba people are still searching for a replacement of Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who was the Premier of Defunct Western Region, and the leader of the Yoruba people, in his welcome address delivered by him at the 80th Anniversary Ceremony of Agbekoya Farmers Association and the book launch of a special book written by Chief Olatunji Bandele on the History and the Socio-economic contributions of Agbekoya to Yoruba land, which was launched by His Imperial Majesty, Oonirisa Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II Ooni of Ile-Ife, in his palace to commerate the 80th Year Anniversary of Agbekoya, last week-end.

He recalled that Chief Awolowo was installed the Life patron of Agbekoya in 1957, after the death of Olubadan Abass Aleshinloye who was the first life Patron of Agbekoya.

Olatunji paid glorious tribute to Chief Awolowo as the premier of the Western Region, who realized the importance of Agriculture in food security, employment generation, foreign exchange earnings and poverty eradication; hence he mobilized the government resources to harness and harmonise the agricultural potentials of the region, and also encouraged Farmers to contribute their quota.

The President General of Agbekoya, Chief Okikiola, called on politicians and Yoruba leaders who want to step into the shoes of Chief Awolowo, to endeavor to emulate and embrace the leadership qualities and political ideology of the late sage.

He finally warned Southwest politicians and Yoruba Leaders who want to sell Yoruba people for their own political selfish interest during the 2019 elections to be careful, because Agbekoya is keenly watching them and we will not spare them this time around.

He said “Agbekoya is keenly watching and monitoring Southwest politicians, Yoruba leaders who want to sell Yoruba people for their own selfish political gains to desist from this unpatriotic act. Agbekoya is ready to defend the interest of Yoruba land and we are ready to deal accordingly with all these self acclaimed Yoruba Leaders.”

Strike: Ibadan Poly refuses to join

The lecturers in The Polytechnic Ibadan, were still in the classrooms carrying on with their academic activities when our correspondent visited the school which prides itself as the ‘Citadel of Academic Excellence’.
Pacesetter News also gathered that there was no union in place to mobilise members to join nationwide strike  by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) because of the court matter instituted against the former leadership by some aggrieved ASUP members.
The Chairman of the Non Academic Staff Union (NASU), Akande Ibrahim said activities in the institution was still in full throttle because there was no ASUP in place.
 
Also, the Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Soladoye Adewole reechoed the position of the Rector, Prof. Olatunde Fawole that the institution has zero tolerance for strike because of the support of the Oyo state government and the cooperation of the academic and non-academic staff of the institution to safeguard industrial harmony as testimonies for the growth rate of the institution among other state owned polytechnics in the country.

The Rector represented by the Deputy Rector and Chairman, graduation ceremony planning committee, Mr Augustine Bayo Oyeleke had made the remarks while briefing journalists last week on the activities lined up for the 32nd and 33rd graduation ceremony of the institution held at the Board of Studies Chamber, Central Administration building, The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

He said the institution’s unlimited transformation and growth in its core value of training young Nigerians in academic technological innovation was as a result of its ability to boycott many recent strikes embarked upon by higher institutions of learning in the state.

He said the management has zero tolerance for strikes these days.

 

Arowolo Quits Shooting Stars for Politics

Shootinging Stars Media Head, Jubril Arowolo has resigned his appointment with the club for active participation in politics.

Arowolo tendered his resignation letter on November 1, 2018 with a month notification to the management of the club on his desire to contest in 2019 general elections.

As such, the management has accepted the letter on the expiration of the period and wished him success in his new calling.

The club however, expressed appreciation for his selfless services in the course of his almost 15 years with the Oluyole Warriors.

Arowolo, a Combined Linguistics graduate, erudite broadcaster and pioneer indigenous TV Sports presenter, joined Shooting Stars under Chief Adegboye Onigbinde on January 15, 2014 from Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, Ibadan and held fort until his voluntary resignation.

Pacesetter News further gathered that “Arowolo Jubril Bimbola is to contest on the platform of Action Democratic Party, (ADP), from Ibadan North Constituency 1 for a seat in Oyo State House of Assembly in 2019.”

A leading House of Representatives candidate for Ibadan North Local Government area of Oyo state under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Olaide Musiliu Akinremi has said that he established vocational training centre at Yemetu in Ibadan North local government as part of his philanthropic gestures to help the needy.
The candidate promised to leave unprecedented legacies in the constituency if elected as the National Assembly member in February, 2019 election.
Prince Akinremi, while on tour of Ibadan North local government wards to seek for the constituents’ votes, said he would pursue his primary functions of lawmaking business with vigour and ensure the sponsorship of bills and motions that have direct impact on the people of the local government, Ibadanland and Oyo state in general.
According to the APC chieftain, “since 1999 we have all witnessed what all the  past lawmakers from the constituency had been able to do for our people and there are still very many greater things to achieve to meet up with the growing rate and expansion taking place in Ibadan North.
“Ibadan North being the biggest local government in Oyo state in the area of population is in need of a selfless, committed and spirited individual who has excelled in private life and ready to bring his local and international experience to bear in turning things around for the better.
“I, Prince Olaide Musiliu Akinremi will not only facilitate federal government projects to grow our people and make their life better, I will use my personal emoluments to make our people smile and proud once again.
“For sometimes, I have set up vocational centres in Yemetu, Ibadan North local government area where our youths and women are being trained to learn computer, tailoring, hairdressing, barbing, modern cooking of foreign and local foods, make-up, among others. On graduation, we provide them with incentives to be self reliant. Scores of other indigent students scattered all over Ibadanland are being sponsored in higher institutions for them to excel and be the best they can in future,” Akinremi added
He assured that aside projects in the area of school constructions, potable water, solar energy and distribution of transformers to engender regular power supply for our people. He also pledged to institute a quarterly town hall meetings to meet our people and interface with them to know their pressing area of needs and empower them accordingly.
Prince Akinremi enjoined the people not to vote for those who had been deceiving them over the years but scrutinize programmes and sincerity of those coming to them to ask for their votes in 2019 because ‘once beaten is twice shy.’
He thereafter sought for their votes for him to win handsomely the 2019 elections, just as he begged them to also cast their votes for all APC candidates from President Muhammadu Buhari to Senator Abiola Ajimobi as Oyo South Senator, Chief Bayo Adelabu as the Governor and other house of assembly candidates of the APC in Ibadan North constituencies 1 and 2 and other constituencies in Oyo state.

THE Rector of The Polytechnic Ibadan, Prof. Olatunde Fawole has lauded the support of the Oyo state government and the cooperation of the academic and non-academic staff of the institution to safeguard industrial harmony as testimonies for the growth rate of the institution among other state owned polytechnics in the country.

The Rector represented by the Deputy Rector and Chairman, graduation ceremony planning committee, Mr Augustine Bayo Oyeleke made this known while briefing the press on the activities lined up for the 32nd and 33rd graduation ceremony of the institution held at the Board of Studies Chamber, Central Administration building, The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

He said the institution’s unlimited transformation and growth in its core value of training young Nigerians in academic technological innovation was as a result of its ability to boycott many recent strikes embarked upon by higher institutions of learning in the state.

Fawole then listed several achievements of the institution since its establishment in 1971 as being rated by the regulatory body for Polytechnic education in Nigeria, the National Board for Technical Education as the best stated owned polytechnic and rated fourth best polytechnic among over 112 polytechnics in Nigeria.

The graduation ceremony comes up on Friday 14th December, 2018 at the North Campus Sports Pavilion, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, by 10.00 a.m.

He noted that programmes slated for the ceremony will kick off with a Jumat and church services on Friday 7th December at the central Mosque of the institution by 2.00pm and service at The Lord’s Chapel of The Polytechnic, Ibadan by 10.00 a.m on Sunday 9th December, 2018.

The graduation lecture will be delivered by a leading authority on African history, Professor (Senator) Adebanji Akintoye on the theme “The great prospects of Nigeria’s Polytechnic graduates” on Thursday 13th December, 2018 at the North campus Assembly hall by 3.00 p.m.

At the ceremony, Fawole informed that National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), Post Graduate and Full Professional Diploma Certificates will be awarded to hundreds of graduating students while prizes will be presented to all students who have exceptionally excelled across programmes in addition to those who recorded best performance in other extra-curricular activities.

Fawole disclosed that “You will recall that The Polytechnic, Ibadan, stood out and did not participate in many of the strikes, three major things are responsible for this action. They are prudent management of resources by the management of the institution; cordial relationships, industrial harmony that is existing between the management and the unions, the intervention of the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi in responding to our requests and in particular, his interest in the peace, harmony and smooth running of the Polytechnic, Ibadan.

“All these put together have culminated into and from what you can see and feel. You will discover that there is peace, not a fragile one, peace, tranquillity and development, in the Polytechnic Ibadan. Above all, the kind of staff God has blessed the institution with, teaching and non-teaching, senior and junior they have all been being wonderful.”

Fawole said the graduation was an occasion to celebrate four major stakeholders of the institution as one of the country’s foremost citadel of learning and technological innovations.

He mentioned the stakeholders as “students, parents/guardians, staff/management and the proprietor of the institution. The successful students are to be celebrated for being complaint to the rules and regulations guiding their studentship and enduring the hustles and bustles of the academic environment, resulting into their being found worthy in learning and character.”
